“I think it’s important for the average citizen to realize that laws only work when there is enforcement behind them,” she said.
It’s a maneuver that has shocked many in the disability rights community. Those who spoke with Stateline said they have not received answers from public officials about why the states are still pursuing the lawsuit after the Trump administration removed federal protections for gender dysphoria.
Ah. I'm going to try to explain this without getting too far into the social-justice weeds here:
it's because bigots are bigots
hope that helps.
This is the selfish argument for solidarity. It doesn't just help other people. If the disability community is already standing with the trans community (and vice versa), then neither community is "next" after one is attacked because they are already fighting together. If anti-racism activists and disability justice activists are already standing shoulder-to-shoulder, there's no place for an organization such as, say, the BBC, to lever in a wedge and pit marginalized people against one another.
A group of Republican-led states is pushing a lawsuit that could weaken a key federal disability rights protection.
Solidarity requires recognizing that you are not the most important person in the world, however, and a willingness to get the fuck over yourself. So. Yano.
Elect more women. #AOC
With the lack of SNAP benefits in the US hitting in a few days, welcome to No Snitch November. If you see somebody taking food? No you didn't. Taking formula? No you didn't. Taking diapers? No you didn't. When the government turns their back on our neighbors, it's our job to protect them.
"autistic people need instructions for every simple task" okay how about we talk about the neurotypicals not following clear instructions. what do you mean it didn't work the way you wanted, i gave you the instructions. oh you didn't follow them? you didn't see where i clearly indicated the directions you were supposed to follow for this task? and you're shocked it didn't turn out right? you decided to pull a Jared I'm 19 and go rogue? you're surprised the road less travelled isn't fucking paved because no one travels it? do you get off on this
nice try but that doesn't work on me. appreciate the attempt tho <3
It's whether or not it will work on everyone else, really.
the role of the person in the passenger seat is not only navigator but secretary as well. you have to type up the drivers messages to random ladies on facebook about cbd cream & google whether that billy joel song was the theme song for that show or not
you also have to provide a henchmans disdainful scowl at whoever the driver is flipping off in the target parking lot
other assorted roles may include
retrieval team for objects in the backseat
custodian of the parking garage tickets
"All clear my way"
en-route dining concierge

American friends: If you are so convicted to donate to food banks during the ending of SNAP benefits, as someone who worked in nonprofit, please know it is much more impactful to donate MONEY than it is to donate food. Food banks can order items in bulk and get them tax free, and it gives them the flexibility to order what they need.
Check on your neighbors, help each other out 🙏🏻
Someone may have already put this in the notes, but if you're donating money to a food bank, and they're a tax-deductible charity and your employer offers matching donations, please look into that! I completely forgot until this post came around that this was an option. I just went in and submitted my receipt, which automatically doubled the $100 I sent to my local food bank to $200. This will really stretch the amount of food that they are able to buy at no additional cost to you.
Where's that one video of the guy yelling "One dollar's worth of food, coming through!" as he pushes an enormous pallet of vegetables?
When I donated $50, the splash page informed me I had donated ?? FIVE HUNDRED (500) ?!?! MEALS???!!!
If you're not sure wher to donate, Feedingamerica.org will help find a local food bank or you can just donate to them directly. I donated $25 which translated to 250 meals.

VTM AU Clan remix: Tzmisce!
This one is dedicated to @tzimizce
The horror I'm trying to embody with this clan is one of entrapment, obsession, Isolation and power dynamics.
Disciplines: Vicissitude, Serpentis, Dominate, Animalism, Quietus, Auspex (Remember you only get 3)
Clan Curse 1: Home Soil
This clan curse works slightly differently than it sounds. The kindred must sleep in an area that is very special to it in some way. If they don't do this, then they auto fail their rouse check when waking and until they go to a special location and spend time there, all loss of willpower is doubled.
The lower the generation of the kindred, the less places "count" with higher generation Tzmisce being able to have places that are special to them in rather mundane ways.
For most younger Tzmisce it's usually only the top 2 or 3 places that are special to them. These are usually places they would die to protect or places that carry a very important place in your heart, places that are fundamentally "important". The apartment of your still living former lover, the location you were turned, the gravesite of your dead best friend, the spot you lost all of your former coterie, etc.
In addition, whenever you are at one of your special places, you get a +1 to all rolls. When you are away from one of your special places, you gain a -1 penalty to all rolls.
Clan Curse 2: Enforced Courtesy
For the clan Tzmisce, Courtesy is not a choice. The Tzmisce is bound to the common courtesy that their culture held in life. In their unlife, they must obey these courtesy tenants or else spend a willpower in order to ignore this requirement for a short time. This includes things such as providing a guest food and drink upon request, to being unable to enter a place if doing so would have been culturally frowned upon.
Compulsion: Hoarding
Every Tzmisce gains a handful of what are essentially special interests. About once a week a Tzmisce will gain the urge to collect, make or gain something relating to one of their special interests. Preferably this will be a physical item that can be touched or held, however in modern nights this is highly variable. Rarely, the compulsion will lead the Tzmisce to either seeking out someone relating to this special interest or else changing themselves or another person to better resemble some part of their special interest, whether it's physically changing something through fleshcraft or some type of life style change.
If a Tzmisce gains something relating to their special interest outside of them seeking it due to compulsion, they may roll a d10. If it lands on 10, they gain a willpower
Culture
The culture of the Tzmisce clan is highly varied. It's common for sire and childe to clash due to differences in culture. Sires often push their childer in ways other kindred do not due to the unique drawbacks that they face as a clan.
No two Tzmisce are the same. Do to the way their curses work, this is also a fact of life for the Tzmisce that their individual culture will very. Most Tzmisce tend to form groups with time. These may form coteries or not, and they may live together or not. It all depend on the individuals.
When these groups do live together, they tend to do so in an area with lots of space. Mansions, sprawling sewer systems, apartment complex that they worked together to gain ownership of. ETC
Part of why their culture is unique is due to how difficult it is for a Tzmisce to relocate, even at the worst and most dangerous of times.
Relocation requires the creation of a new special place, which can take time and is very hit or miss. It also requires them upending their hoard and transporting all of it to a new location. And for some, purposely seeking out a space to be "special" will inherently make that space less special, thus removing a level of control from that individual in regards to their ability to travel.
A good example would be a Tzmisce that wakes up in the night and then travels a few hours to a new location and just hangs out, tries to make friends, meet other kindred, etc. They have to work over weeks, months, or even years in order for them to naturally form a connection to some location in the area and only then can they start the process of moving.
Relocating across the world or country is often a bunch of small moves and can take decades. And the idea of trying to reach a specific location and viewing each of these moves as just one step can often lead to the location bonding to be more difficult, thus making the move harder or even impossible.
In those cases where a member of the clan is forced out of their domain / haven / whatever special place they are living, they face a unique and difficult situation.
They will be in a situation where they need to immediately relocate while bringing as much of their hoard with them. They will be constantly battling the loss of willpower, constantly fighting back apathy. They will grow hungrier easier, making them need to feed more and thus increasing the chance of them accidently killing someone (feeding and accidently killing someone is always a small risk in my AU).
When in this state it's easier to loss access to other special places as they are discovered and desecrated, ruining the special meaning they had for you.
An example would be a Tzmisce who lives in their childhood home. Another kindred becomes upset with them and sets the house ablaze. Depending on the Tzmisce, this could lead to that location no longer being special as all the specialness was tied to the memories built within the house and now that is gone.
It's also easier to lose comrades, to make enemies, etc as you work to survive night to night while working to find / make a new place for yourself to find special and set up for safety.
This is another reason that members of the Tzmisce clan to tend to clump together. They protect each other and form a bond over a space, making it special for each of them. It's also not rare for a non neonate to actively form a coterie with members from as many other clans as possible, as this allows the widest net of safety and connection in the area.
Many would view this as manipulative behavior while others may even view it as abusive. It very well can be, depending on the Tzmisce in question...
Thank you for reading! Feel free to ask questions of offer feedback! Remember that you can use #draggoau to look at the other entries! I'd also love if this gets shared around! My hope is to write my own vampire series that is deeply inspired by VTM so these writing practices are greatly helpful to me and are allowing me to flex my creative muscles :)
Yeah man, this wizard conference is such a drag. I just saw a guy clap his hands together and say "Hastened Networking" or something, and suddenly everyone in a 20 foot radius was holding a copy that dude's business card. Nobody even acknowledged the quality of his card, that's how common this is. I'm over here casting Handshake and level 2 Small Talk. I think I just heard "Power Word: Video Call" two groups over. I gotta get a new job.
YouTube is implementing an AI policy that tracks your watch history and determines your age with it. The only way to be able to continue watching the videos you want on YouTube if you've been falsley flagged as a minor by their AI is to give YouTube your government ID. This is being implemented in the US right now. It is essential to rage against this and put YouTube in the fucking ground if they continue with it—that may be the only way to make them backtrack. But damn isn't that hard to do when responding to this announcement with a polite but negative comment flags you for violating community guidelines and bans you from even posting it?
After I reblogged this, I did some looking, and found the policy update page that talks about the implementation of age verification.
It's called "Extending Protections to More US-Based Teens" and it goes into effect on August 13, 2025.
Google states that on that date, they'll begin rolling out "an age estimation model to determine if a US-based user is under the age of 18." No way AI can fuck that up, right?
This will occur "regardless of the birthdate you entered when creating your account." So, a 33-year-old like myself, despite putting my accurate birthdate, will still be subjected to this AI model and cannot opt out. Great.
And then they'll use the model to market shit to teenagers, because that's always gone well--wait, I'm sorry, they'll use it to "extend age-appropriate product experiences and protections to more teens (like enabling digital wellbeing tools and only showing non-personalized ads)." Right.
Google claims they've used this model elsewhere and it's worked well. (I'm assuming they're referring to the age verification roll out in response to the UK’s Online Safety Act.)
The model in question uses "a variety of signals" like "YouTube activity and longevity of the account." Well that's not vague at all.
When ZDNet reached out, "a YouTube representative stressed that the age-estimation model 'does not collect any new information not already associated with the account'"--which is true... unless your account is anonymous. To revert an account wrongfully flagged as underage, you have to upload a government issued ID, selfie, or credit card. Which defeats the purpose of an anonymous account.
Like the op, I tried to voice my displeasure at the further encroachment of artificial intelligence onto internet platforms. And like op, my reply "failed to post."
What I want to know is what about the above reply or mine
violates community policy? Or does Google just have AI content filters set up to ping key phrases? This is particularly grating when community policy specifically prohibits spam comments and shit like this
makes it through but comments that disagree with policy decisions are automatically flagged as inappropriate.
Regardless, this is fucking bunk, on three levels.
Firstly, what a child consumes on the internet is not the responsibility of the internet--or its users. It is the responsibility of the parent of that child.
Parental controls exist not just on televisions, but on phones and computers as well. Not only is it available via the hardware we're using to access the platform, it's also already available on the fucking platform.
Secondly, with this AI age verification rollout, Google is telling its consumers that they get to decide what we consume. That we as consumers are not in control of our experience and that we clearly do not know what is in our own best interests.
This is a violation of the concept of consumer sovereignty.
Thirdly, this model is more or less the implementation of Google's own privatized version of KOSA. Which, as we've discussed ad nauseam here on Tumblr and on the internet at-large, is largely the first step toward internet censorship.
I don't think I need to remind anyone that censorship is bad. For lots of reasons.
And look, I know we're all tired. There are Things Happening and they just keep fucking happening. I know it's a lot.
But you and me? We're the boss in this situation. No company should ever feel comfortable enough to dictate what its consumers can and cannot access. Companies work for us. Without consumers, companies cease to exist. So we have a lot more power than it feels like we do in this situation.
For better or worse, Google and YouTube are part of the ecosystem of information on the internet. And access to information is important. The freedom to access information is a right that we must protect at all costs, regardless of the age of the person accessing that information.
So take a deep breath. And keep yelling at them about this.
You can:
Spam their social media.
Call their customer service line (1-650-253-0000).
File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
(Politely) Yell at your local news media--if local news covers it, there's a chance that national news might.
Sign this petition (or another like it).
And if you're sick of Google's bullshit, you can also just... stop. Stop using their services. And let them know that's why you're leaving.
There are alternatives to Google services:
Proton has a VPN, email service, and also has a drive, similar to Google's, as well as a docs feature similar to Google docs.
Ellipsus is an alternative to Google docs.
Obsidian is another.
There's also Dropbox Paper.
LibreOffice is an alternative to the Google suite/Microsoft Office suite and storage is local to your device rather than the cloud.
DuckDuckGo is a great alternative to Google search, with an easy opt-out for AI features.
Firefox is a good alternative browser for Chrome.
Twitch, Vimeo and DailyMotion, are viable alternatives for YouTube, depending on what you use it for.
There is, unfortunately, no perfect solution. Google has a monopoly on many of the services it offers, including video-sharing.
But that's another great reason to contact your reps! If you want to keep using YouTube and other Google products, or you don't want other companies to follow Google's lead, go yell at your representatives about it. They have the power to demand action on a state and federal level to protect their constituents.
Call and demand they protect their constituents from predatory business practices (which demanding an ID or credit card, when they have a history of data breaches, most certainly is). Tell your reps that it's against your freedom as a consumer for Google to decide what is and is not appropriate for its consumers to consume, and nowhere in the Constitution does it say that Google is arbiter of our access to information. And let them know that their action or lack thereof will directly impact your voting decisions during the next election.
The only way we can get companies like Google to stop doing stupid shit like this is to get loud about it and to stop using their services.

For the curious, here are the links I used in my attempted reply:
This one is from 2021, when they were sued for allegedly selling user data to third parties: https://www.tampabay.com/news/2021/05/07/google-selling-users-personal-data-despite-promise-federal-court-lawsuit-claims/
This is from today (08/08/25) about user data being compromised, and has been confirmed by Google itself: https://www.forbes.com/sites/daveywinder/2025/08/08/google-confirms-it-has-been-hacked---user-data-stolen/
This sucks but how in the world is Youtube preventing parents from just showing their IDs anyway? As a parent if my kid’s account got flagged I would just present my ID and a lot of parents would try the same. We shouldn’t have to present our IDs at all but how in the fuck do they stop parents from just doing that? I’m assuming this is more about advertising than “safety”.
At this point I give up on data breaches, they’re not going to maliciously target my kid. The fact I have avoided presenting my ID to anyone until now (my state already requires age verification to view porn, that’s what VPNs are for), this forces a lot of people’s hands. What am I going to do, tell a kid they can’t use YT? My kid’s been educated about algorithmic and ad targeting but that only goes so far. Plus, as said, I don’t like a company telling me what my kid can watch.
Particularly because if that worked then I assume the kids who *do not bring it up to their parents* are more likely to be living in oppressive and abusive households. I’m sure that’s great. I’m sure no company preys on the mental health of its users via advertising or algorithms.
