Sending love to all my fellow older fans. I was living on my own and working a grown up job when I landed in this fandom. One Direction was not apart of my childhood and I did not grow up with them in the same way a lot of other people did. None of that changes the devastation I feel over Liam’s death. No, a piece of my childhood did not die, but a piece of my heart sure did.

i am the person i am today because of the experiences i had stanning 1D in my twenties. those formative years were shaped by the the memories and connections i made, people i met on and offline, the learning and self discovery i endured while loving them, their music, their bond—so much of it was through those boys.

liam was integral to that entire journey and always will be. that chapter in a lot of our lives may or may not have closed, but it is something that will continue to be carried with us as we keep growing older together because there was just nothing else like them. everything about them was so special. despite everything.

i cherish so much about that time in my life, about his contributions to it, his legacy as an artist. it feels like such a massive waste. liam was immensely talented and i only wish he had gotten the help he needed in order for people to keep seeing that. he deserved to get better as much as the people he hurt deserved to speak up.

let this be a lesson to hold onto one another, check on people you love, get help if you know you need it. hold yourself accountable when you mess up. you can start over. you can become a better you. feel everything you need to feel, process this however you need—it’s all valid and warranted. this is very shocking and complicated. it is confusing and heartbreaking.

take care of yourselves.

I hope everyone who was gleefully reveling in his downfall the last few weeks and rewriting his history within the group recognize it was their hands that pushed him. He was a flawed person for sure, but I always had time for him given how they were all manipulated and used while they were literal children.

I am not surprised, given that he has tried this exact thing before, but I am still sad.

I'll just add that it was a big deal also because everyone was literally begging for a Lairport 2.0 after the February flight, and we couldn't believe it had actually happened again. But also because of the immediately following events (at least this is what I remember rn), i.e. Their show in Gothenburg where Harry waved the AIMH flag; Louis wearing the "Future is now" t-shirt (which he will only wear one more time, for the gig in Helsinki, the one with the baby doll thrown on stage...); the "If God hated gays why Harry and Louis are cute together" fan sign shown on the jumbotron; Harry putting the balloon - inflated by Louis - under his t-shirt pretending to be pregnant; loads of cute interactions between them, you know normal mortal enemy stuff...

All these things and Lairport 2.0 happened the same day. A damn rollercoaster, like the whole of 2015.
