I just like the story behind this. On one hand, one piece of misinformation can easily be accepted as fact if it looks appealing enough. Raccoon skulls look more like what you would expect of an animal skull. Instead of the reality where wolf skulls are actually kind of ugly from the front. But this design is made unintentionally far greater because of this. These tattoos were all found under the #wolfskulltattoo tag on instagram
ok this is a poignant visual metaphor tho
Red coquette aesthetic in words:
Red lipstick stains on white collars
Pearls on necks and wrists with painted nails
Spilling words on pages in the curliest of writings
A knife in a purse
Wooden Matches and tapered candlesticks
Heels with frilly socks
Coke and skittles and lollipops and teeth rot
Touching your mouth
Thinking of her neck
Those heart shades that make your heart flutter
Low light and red leather books that smell old
Convertible cars and loose hair
Dark skin and bright eyes
Curly hair held with ribbons
Hands gripping and reaching
Roses in a glass soda bottle
A compact stuck inbetween couch cushions, long lost
That dress
The feel of satin on your face
Jazz floating in a window from a distant square
sapphic artists
just saw a post by @cowgirlhours about how the sapphic music scene is oversaturated by hayley kiyoko, girl in red and king princess and as someone who REALLY agrees i thought i'll mention some of my fave sapphic artists for the tl (only my faves because op already listed many great artists in the replies) :
raveena aurora: bisexual, she/her, american and indian ancestry. her music is so soothing and angelic, and her mvs are super diverse sapphic goodness, with warm colours and soft visuals. incorporates desi aesthetics with lo-fi and r&b. please watch her headaches mv (she romances hitomi mochizuki in it, yet another soft queen), it's like a sofia coppola film if the latter actually had good rep.
rina sayawama: pansexual, she/her, japanese born british. absolutely bomb sapphic pop discography if i may say so myself. just a long string of bops here keep scrolling. not a bad track on the sayawama album. i recommend cherry, bad friend and akasaka sad. ily queen pls collab with kim namjoon :(
janelle monae: pansexual (i think? correct me pls if wrong) she/they. pretty much one of the best voices in this goddamn industry, has a whole sci-fi extended universe of their own complete with an alter ego, and the music on those albums is psychedelic social commentary. their dirty computer ep is gold star from start to finish, i think my fave is i like that.
zolita: lesbian, she/her, german american. am super new to her music but i ADORE her aesthetic, she incorporates her witchcraft into her mvs and music motifs and she has some seksii ass bops. her immaculate conception ep said zoyalina rights. watch the holy mv, it has like, witchy cults and lesbians and a woodsy vibe.
victoria monet: bisexual, she/her. absolutely lush voice and sings of erotic experiences and sexuality which is v.v important for fellow queer and/or woc women especially when we are either absolutely desexualised in media as uwu cotton candy angels or fetishized by men. has collabed and worked with several pop artists. do yourself a favour and stream the jaguar ep, especially the title track and touch me (smutty sapphic song :*)
japanese breakfast (aka michelle zauner): bisexual, she/her, korean-american. mostly sings chill, vintage style whimsical indie numbers that remind me of coming of age films. REALLY loves bisexual lighting in her mvs. more subtle motifs about the queer experience in her songs than the other artists on this list.
phoebe bridgers: bisexual, she/her. you have probably heard of her but idc because i want her to compose the ost of my life, her music is HAUNTING, there is something very whimsical, light and otherworldly about her songs; dare i say camilla macaulay thinks she looks and sounds like this. i would could and should recommend the entire stranger in the alps ep, also killer + the sound. PLEASE listen to this song it's the very essence of dark academia meets an odd sort of tenderness???? idk.
kailee morgue: pansexual, she/her. initially started out as a cover artist. i think she is a practising witch too, like zolita. ok i actually really love her music, the medusa ep is the kind of effervescent punk rock i really vibe with, and i like how she subtly uses greek mythology in her lyrics. siren is my fave song of hers (mv is aesthetic af), and i've also seen medusa as a rec on many lists.
there are a 100+ other artists i'm pretty sure but these are the ones I really like, genre and content wise.
[ i've also listened to clairo, mxmtoon and mitski but tbh their music didn't really work for me. ]

bedtime is a very difficult.
oh to be a small mouse in a pastoral children’s novel who lives in a hollowed out tree stump and does nothing but collect dewdrops and sweep their doorstep with a feather
and carve one strawberry into slices like it’s a ham
you get it
To use acorn tops as bowls for the strawberry
octopuses die after they have sex for the first time by the way. and squidward just happens to still be alive and well.
I hate to disappoint the finest minds on tumblr but
Gallery of fake fans right here.
The presence of Squilliam Fancypants would suggest that “Squi-“ is simply a common prefix for octopus names, likely one with great cultural significance and meaning
his name is squilliam fancySON we are exposing TOO many fake fans tonight
squidward has only 6 tentacles. OCTOpuses have 8 (hence the prefix). the creator is a marine biologist, this isnt some rookie design mistake. literally anyone who has watched the show for 5 minutes would know this come on now yall….
you dont get to decide whether or not all the octopuses in the show’s lack of tentacles is or isnt a design choice when its already BEEN CONFIRMED BEFORE THAT HES AN OCTOPUS IN A MULTITUDE OF OFFICIAL MATERIALS. also, there are actual squids on the show:
Also where is everyone in the notes getting the idea that 8 tentacles=octopuses and 6 tentacles=squids. Squids don’t have 6 tentacles. Squids have 10 limbs, 2 of which are tentacles and 8 of which are legs that look like tentacles.
this started as an argument about squidward being an adult virgin
yeah but nobody is going to argue against that
Not to sound like an old fart here but my philosophy about video games is like. A kid living out in the middle of bumfuck nowhere with no internet access for miles should be able to purchase a game from walmart, take that game home, put it in their console, and play the whole game with all of its features and the only thing lack of internet affects is the inability to play online with others. Nothing else. They shouldn't be missing entire chunks of the game becuase they can't download a patch. The game shouldn't be borderline empty or unplayable without a patch.
Ok so I grew up in a place where I got signal in one room of my house. Internet equality is absolutely real and difficult to live without. My parents paid an arm and a leg for the slowest internet because that’s all that was offered in my area. I know this is a post about video games but do you know how hard it is for a family of 4 to all be in one room trying to work during a pandemic? We had to ration wifi for zooms. It’s not fair and rural areas deserve internet access.
Jurassic Park except they provide proper enrichment for the animals and they therefor don’t feel the need to hunt slow, small humans.
“We stuffed this pumpkin full of live goats for the T. rex watch him try to get them out with his little fingers.”
“Turns out the raptors are cage breakers, so we’ve gotten them a series of door handles to manipulate. Little guys just love it.”
"The Rexes are incredibly affectionate pack animals, so we were careful to breed multiples. Be sure to come during spring time to watch them go broody over anything even vaguely egg-shaped." "We put the Raptors through target training and now if they are bored, hungry, or just want a scratch under the chin they go to spot near the bars and ring a little bell for attention." "Imprinting after hatching was so common that we now have keepers under contract to care for the animals well into adulthood to prevent them from pining." "The Gallimimus turned out to be just giant Canada Geese, and so fear nothing. Their keeper regularly has to stop them from trying to attack fences, guests, feeding buckets, and the now traumatised pack of Ceratosaurs in the next paddock."
"We also fired Dr. Henry Wu."
I have questions for OP either about how big they think a pumpkin is or about how small they think goats are.
In a fictional genetic theme park, we play by Roger Rabbit rules. They’re however large they need to be to make my joke work.
I respect that. Question withdrawn.
FWIW this is a pumpkin I photographed while waiting in the line for the parking lot to get into the renn Faire last month and I’m pretty sure it would fit several goats comfortably
Also these:
and these
are pygmy goats.... you could probably fit twice as many in there. :-)
This is Sarah Grimké.
She was born to a rich plantation family in the American South during the time of slavery. She owned a slave, Hetty, a girl her parents gave her when she was a child. She was absolutely the sort of person whose racism you could justify as being ‘of her time’ and ‘just the way she was raised’.
And she cited the injustices she saw growing up on the plantation as the motivation for her becoming an abolitionist as an adult.
When she was a kid, she tried to give bible lessons to the slaves on her Dad’s plantation, and taught her own slave to read and write. As an adult, she and her sister campaigned for the end of slavery. When she found out that one of her brothers had raped one of his own slaves and gotten her pregnant three times, she welcomed her nephews into the family and paid for education for the two that wanted it.
This was a woman who was raised in a culture of slavery, looked around her as a child and said “hey, wait a minute, we’re all assholes!” and spent the rest of her life trying to put things right.
It absolutely was a choice.
This is something I’ve been forced to learn in the past two years. The world around me is turning into something I was raised to believe could only happen in history books, or maybe in other parts of the world that sort of belonged in history books.
The more I see this happening–and the more I learn about the past and how hard people did fight to stop Hitler from initially rising to power, or to point out the humanity of slaves–the more apparent it becomes that we have always had these choices, and they’ve always been the same.
And we’re always going to have genuinely appealing opportunities to make the worst possible choices again, no matter how much more modern the world appears.
George Washington owned slaves right? Most of the founding fathers did, and in grade school, to smooth over that abuse of humanity by an American hero, we as children were told “Yes, George Washington did own slaves but he freed them when he died.” And you infer that he didn’t like slavery but it was an economic necessity.
And then you’re in your mid twenties watching a food show on Netflix and you learn that because Pennsylvania was a Quaker colony, they led the nation in emancipation and if an enslaved person was in Philadelphia for more than six months, they automatically became freed. And the young nation’s early capital was in Philadelphia, where Washington brought his household of enslaved people with him. And he took them back to Virginia every five months for a time so as to start that clock over and keep them enslaved.
There’s a trend with historians to want so badly to maintain the prestige of George Washington and an exceptional and morally pristine figure. And true, there are many instances in his writing where he sounds like his opinion on slavery as an institution is turning and that he knew slavery was wrong. But his actions. He literally had to do absolutely nothing to free his household staff, and took great pains to keep them enslaved.
It’s important to remember that too. That there were people in positions of enormous power, who know what they’re doing is wrong, and choose to do it anyway.
Do not let anyone tell you his teeth were made of wood.
“Look. (Grownups skip this paragraph.) I’m not about to tell you this book has a tragic ending, I already said in the very first line how it was my favorite in all the world. But there’s a lot of bad stuff coming up. There’s death coming up, and you better understand this: some of the wrong people die. Be ready for it.”
— William Goldman, The Princess Bride
So apparently, over the summer, Quibi (the shortest-lasting streaming service ever lmao) did a quarantine project called “Home Movie: The Princess Bride” where a bunch of celebrities recreated The Princess Bride in tiny chunks at home.
And like there was no permanent cast, all these celebrities seem to have gotten a scene or part of a scene to do (i’m not sure exactly, I did not ever watch Quibi and thus haven’t seen this yet), and then they just… recreated it as best they could. At home. Under quarantine.
So like, you had Jennifer Garner in a blanket cape playing Princess Buttercup AND the Booing Old Woman with a crowd comprised entirely of stuffed animals:
Or Taika Waititi paying Westley off a badly-drawn Inigo on a piece of cardboard held in front of someone’s face:
And it’s all just delightful.
But my absolute favorite part of this thing that I’ve sadly never seen but assume is probably absolutely hilarious and a treasure and I want to find it some day and watch the whole thing… is that Carey Elwes is in it.
As Prince Fucking Humperdink.
I didn’t realize ;-;
Okay I reblogged this before BUT the visual contrast between the first scene and the second one is fantastic. The first sets Peter’s vibrantly multicolored suit up against the black & white colors of the reactor; the second does the same thing, but switches the palettes. Now the background is in reds and blues and Miles’ suit is the black and white. And he still catches the eye in a screen full of moving parts. THIS MOVIE, GUYS.
It’s Miles standing out against the colors of the original Spider Man.
this remains a masterclass in How to Make a Comic Book Movie
And he looks
Fabulous
The man has the legs for it honestly
WORK IT KING!!!
we stan a legend
reblogging for the last part (and also he DOES have the legs for it)
that story is total bullshit and has no source. not one interview with mark bryan mentions this supposed workplace harassment situation. he literally just started wearing skirts and heels because he likes them, its not that deep.
can we stop acting like men need some kind of “gotcha” reason to wear dresses and skirts?? constantly trying to make up some kind of justification for a guy wearing a skirt just helps uphold the shitty idea that clothes are gendered and that people like mark bryan are some kind of mystical outlier for literally just wearing the clothes they want to wear
He actually stated in this interview (2020 in the Süddeutsche Zeitung) that he began wearing high heels because he got bored of wearing suits/ formal clothing.
He said that a friend commented on his legs which would look great in skirts so he decided to give it a try. That’s the whole story.
Mark Bryan ist Ingenieur, bekommt wegen seiner Instagram-Auftritte aber auch Anfragen für Model-Jobs. Über High Heels und Kleidernormen.
This website makes me insane
Tumblr makes my head hurt. He still looks fantastic though.
