Jade West & Beck Oliver
The Gang Debates Clone Fucking
It was a typical Friday, Beck was at home, just trying to unwind before another audition the following day. School was...well school. There wasn’t much he could do about the gossip mill and he just accepted it for what it was. Eventually someone else would take the spotlight. In the meantime, all he could really do was downplay it and just keep to himself. Easier said than done but not completely impossible.Â
He pushed himself up off the bed and sighed as he ran a hand through his hair and gave himself a quick once over. He had showered and changed, nothing fancy since he was just going to be in his RV but nonetheless he wanted to be more than a little presentable. Three knocks at the door made Beck hesitate, his eyes moving to the computer, sighing when he saw who it was. Unlocking the door, he opened it and smiled, stepping to the side to let Tori in. “My god you are a sight for sore eyes” he said as he let his arms drop around her, tucking into her back pockets before he kissed her once, stepping back inside, he shut and locked the door behind them.Â

Jade’s eye twitched slightly as Beck refused to tell her who he was suddenly dating. “Not important?! - who are you to say what is and what’s not important? it’s important to me!” she hissed, pointing her finger at him furiously. “So, who is it?“.
Although taken aback with rage, the look in Jade’s eyes showed equal signs of being in a state of complete disbelief. And listening to him, as he continued to ramble on about peace and happiness and whatever else she found to be complete bullshit, only exacerbated the feeling.Â
“Oh yeah?” she said sarcastically and inched closer. When she got close enough, the familiarity of his scent caused her, although unnoticeably, to hesitate for just a moment, before spitting out: “well I hope you’ve found a nice pathetic girl to be miserable with”. Jade then walked off while deciding that two can play this game.Â
Beck chuckled. “Her name is Tori Vega and unlike you I am not miserable with her. But hey you want to be miserable, you want to stay angry and hate the world? Knock yourself out. I am done watching you destroy yourself and me.” His voice was emotionless and cold as he shook his head. “Yes walk away. What you do best.” He scoffed and rubbed his eyes. “What the fuck ever.” He pushed himself off the wall and headed to his next class, whatever fallout came he would deal with. Though he doubted it would be anything seriously major. After all, he was, as far as he knew, the only person that wasn’t afraid of Jade and that didn’t change just because they were over, no, if anything it lessened the feeling more and more.Â
The next few weeks passed uneventfully, school, auditions and Tori were taking up most of Beck’s time which was just fine with him. The passing between school and auditions was just enough to keep him busy and Tori was his third way to pass the time. And he had been right unlike Jade there was never serious drama, never serious angst, so far the most “serious” fight had been silly things like where they should eat or what movies they should see. Simple. Easy. Yes, Beck liked it indeed.Â
Of course Sikowitz who had clearly missed the drama (or forgotten or just didn’t care honestly who knew) once more dragged Jade and Beck into another insufferable acting exercise. Beck kept himself as neutral as possible, as dead as he could manage in manner, face and tone.Â
jjadelynwest:
Jade’s eyebrows shot up as Beck started talking. As she saw it, he was the one who should tune down the bitchitude, considering he had been the one requesting her presence. Still, Jade kept up her, now somewhat bothered, but cool demeanor. “Get to the point” she asserted impatiently, crossing her arms over her chest. Although, in all honesty, there was nothing else she’d rather be doing with her time.
Jade found herself caught in a state between feeling like passing out and wanting to burn the school to the ground. He was seeing someone - had she heard him correctly? Yes, she definitely had. Her arms uncrossing, each lowered back down to her sides, she made her hands into tight fists - as if holding back from ripping each and every locker door from its hinges. From blatantly seeing Beck’s lips still moving, she knew he wasn’t done talking. But as the sound of her blood boiling literally filled her ears, she didn’t catch a single word he was saying. “Who?!” she exploded, her heart racing in her chest.
The loud ringing suddenly filling the hallway didn’t face her one bit; as she stood there, with daggers for eyes, demanding an answer.
And there it was: the anger, rage and hatred. God, how could someone so young have so much of the three was beyond him. “Not important” he snapped as he gave a single shake of his head. He knew that there could never be peace or even a truce, no, such things were not thought of by someone like Jade. No, from now until school was out, he would just have to deal and do his best to keep Tori safe though how was beyond him he would do his best. It was the least he could do.Â
“I have moved on. I am with someone who makes me happy and who I don’t have to handle with kid gloves because the wrong word, look, hell just breathing could set her off, no, there’s none of that. It’s nice and calm and peaceful and it makes me happy. And I don’t care how mad you are and will continue to be, I don’t, like I said before, you want to stay angry with the world, that’s fine. Me? I’m choosing happiness and I hope you do too.”Â
He shrugged and brushed a hand through his hair. “I’m sorry that I couldn’t make you happy and I am sorry that you are so damn angry all the time even though I have no idea why. I hope you find peace and happiness somewhere along the way with someone because believe it or not you deserve it.” He knew she would never believe him but the words were out.Â

Not being able to stomach what was left of her granola bar, let alone the rest of her school day, Jade decided to skip her remaining classes and go home. What was the point of learning to read a map, when she couldn’t even navigate her own thoughts?Â
Putting her books from last period away, Jade felt her phone vibrate. Ignoring it, she grabbed her science book and put it in her bag. So far, this day had gone by marvelously compared to yesterdays. But as she was searching through her locker for a pack of gum she swiftly remembered having placed there last week, she got the sensation of eyes watching her. Turning around annoyed, she caught several students staring at her. Furrowing her eyebrows, clearly displeased, the students quickly turned away, acting casual. Still, Jade could tell they were whispering about her. Assuming they were gossiping about yesterdays turmoil, she rolled her eyes and started making her way to her next class; a sigh escaping her lips while doing so.Â
Striding down the long school hallway, she suddenly stopped dead in her tracks when the sound of an all-too-familiar voice caused her to momentarily feel feverish. After briefly considering to just continue walking, Jade decided against it and turned around. Walking a couple of meters in Becks direction, she had now closed off the massive gap between them.
“What?” she replied, acting seemingly unbothered.Â
Her cool demeanor was not what Beck was expecting at all. No, Jade was fire, anger, and rage-one of so many reasons Beck had tired from being with her. “First of all, turn the bitchitude off, it’s me and unlike the rest of the world you do not scare me.” It was true, even though he was probably minutes, if that, away from having his head torn from his body, he didn’t feel fear. He had no idea why and right about then he doubted it was important. Beck had no idea why she was being so calm...unless...she hadn’t seen the Slap.Â
Now it made sense, the only thing right about then that made any sense. “Okay here goes: I am seeing someone and it’s on the Slap. I doubt that you will listen to me because let’s face it that has never been your strong suit, but I am hoping for once in your life you will stop being so stubborn and listen when I say: leave it alone. Leave her alone, leave me alone, leave us alone. Now, we can’t escape each other since we all attend the same school and have some of the same classes but we can ignore each other. So let’s just do that, just ignore each other and go on with our lives.”Â
Most of the hallway had cleared out and Beck figured the bell must have been close to ringing. Sure enough, it sounded loud and piercing in his head, almost making him wince-but to do so would require closing his eyes and if she had a pair of scissors on hand he wanted to be ready. One could never tell when it came to Jade and that would double time for Beck. All he could do for the time being was hope she would take his words to heart and if not well...he would cross that bridge if he came to it.Â
jjadelynwest:
Fearing for their own wellbeing, students automatically cleared out of her way as Jade stormed down the hall and to the janitor’s closet. Ripping the door open and slamming it shut behind her, she paced back and forth; fuming as the occasional curse word escaped between heavy breaths. Regaining some coolness, she sat down on the floor and pulled out her choice of scissors for the day. Since childhood, Jade had always enjoyed being in dimly lit, small spaces. They calmed her. And thus, the janitor’s closet had become her go-to place for whenever she needed privacy while at school. Going at her first victim, an empty canister of what looked to previously had contained floor cleaner, she violently started cutting away - dissecting Becks words while doing so.Â
After having gone through two empty canisters, one dust pan and a manual for something she hadn’t bothered looking into, Jade was still no way near having found the answers she so desperately sought. Maybe this really is it, she concluded, but quickly discarded the thought, not feeling ready for what that actually would mean. Biting the inside of her cheek, she checked the time on her phone. It was lunch time. And even though she wasn’t particularly hungry, for obvious reasons, she decided it wise to try and eat something anyway.Â
The Asphalt CafĂ© was painfully crowded when she arrived. And having had quite the day up till now, she did not have the patience to scour for an empty place to sit - so with her salad steadily balancing on her tray, she walked up to a somewhat secluded table surrounded by freshmen. “Beat it!” she barked, causing them all to scatter away instantly. Upon sitting down, she saw him. Or rather the back of him as he walked away. Firm footsteps increasing the distance between them yet again. Jade blinked as uncontrollable tears were starting to form in her eyes.Â
The rest of the day passed quickly, something Beck could only be too grateful for. The night went far better than he could have imagined and sitting in Sikowitz’s class he couldn’t stop his mind from wandering. If a first date could have gone better, Beck had no idea how such a thing was possible. No, everything had gone just perfect: perfect restaurant, perfect movie, perfect kiss good night. Yes, John Hughes himself couldn’t have penned a better night. He’s snapped back to the real world when Sikowitz starts the day’s lesson, thankfully Beck and Jade are spared from his exercise. The class ends and from there Beck and the rest of the class move on to their next class.Â
Everything came to ahead just before third period, right smack dab in the middle of the gossip section of the Slap page. “Beck and Jade are over, Beck moves on with...Tori Vega!” Beck wasn’t scared of Jade, never had been, never would be. But he knew her wrath and the last thing he wanted was for someone else to have to face it. He would have to intercept her and make himself bait, to give Tori a fair chance to put a healthy distance between her and Jade.Â
Soon as the bell rang, Beck was up and out of the classroom, his eyes wandering for both girls, he had texted Tori and told her to get out of the school, he would deal with Jade. Soon as he could find her...He leaned against his locker and waited, his leg dancing up and down. He heard her before he saw her, the sea of students parting to let her pass. Sighing, Beck shoved off the locker and stood in the middle of the hallway, devoid of most students, scattered to safer ground. He whistled once sharply. “Hey! Jade!” His voice rang out and he stayed still waiting.Â
jjadelynwest:
As the words coming out of Beck’s mouth hit her one by one - hard - Jade felt stunned. Frozen even. And although much of what he had said had not exactly surprised her, some things were new. And they were horrifying. Was this truly how he felt? And for how long had he been feeling this way? Chewing on each word thoroughly, her mind could not stop churning.
Watching Beck walk away at the sound of the bell, Jade found herself standing alone on the stage; fully aware that most of her fellow students were still eyeing her from their seats. And thus figuring they were hungry for more drama to fill their dull day-to-day lives. Still too stunned, however, Jade felt equally speechless as she did paralyzed. Something the usually quick-witted raven-haired only had experienced a handful of times in her life. “Yikes!-“ Sikowitz exclaimed, peering out through a gap in his fingers from shielding his face with his hands. Yet suddenly, as if the teacher had remembered there would be more coconuts waiting for him in the teachers’ lounge, he got to his feet and started clumsily making his way out through one of the open classroom windows.Â
As if Sikowitz leaving had been whatever clue the others needed, they all started to gather their things in a hurry and exited the classroom. Only Cat stayed behind. “j-jade?” the redhead tried, while cautiously approaching her friend. Upon not getting any response, she gave it another go; “uhm, i wasn’t sure if.. Uhm, i - i brought your bag!” Cat announced, holding Jades bag up to show her. Confident that this was what would turn Jades frown upside down.Â
Coming out of her daze, Jade snapped, “do not - touch - my things!”. Snatching her bag from Cat’s hands, she marched off - heading straight to the janitor’s closet.Â
The morning passed in a foggy haze, Beck was there but he wasn’t. His mind was on the morning in the class and by now word had gotten around like wildfire that for the third (and probably final time) Beck and Jade were over. It felt strange, kind of like phantom limb syndrome: the relationship was over but for some reason Beck’s mind wasn’t fully on board with the decision. He sat in class and tossed the words around, over and over, it had startled and kind of amazed him that he was able to say such things and a part of him hated himself for saying them, he had seen her face and it had been more than just shock and awe there. Still, it had to be done. Or so he kept telling himself.
Finally, lunch. Thanks to classroom proximity he was able to get his lunch and an empty table as it started to slowly fill up. The emptiness was gone in just under two minutes. “BECK!” He sighed heavily and braced himself for the tornado that was Trina Vega. The sound of heels across the pavement before she just about crashed into him, straightening up a bit, Beck doing his best to pretend like she wasn’t there. Easier said than done. “So, rumor has it you are single.” Beck stayed quite and slowly worked on his sandwich, still doing his best to ignore her. “Because it just so happens that I am single too-I know, how someone like me is single is truly a crime. And as for you being single...well, talk about a crime of the century” she moved closer and Beck moved further away. “I will wear you down. Someday you will love me!” With that, she sprang up from the table and rushed off, nearly knocking Andre over as he made his way to the table, sitting next to Beck. The two shared a look, a shake of Beck’s head and a nod from Andre was all the communication the two needed.Â
Andre was quiet, focused on his food, Beck too, thought he paid no attention to what he was eating, it could have been sandpaper and it wouldn’t have mattered. His eyes drifted up wearily when he saw the back of her, all black, naturally, Andre was attempting to speak but Beck brushed it off. “It’s fine, I was done anyways” he said as he carried his tray away, dumping what remained of his food before he walked out of the quad and into the school. He leaned against his locker and sighed. Everything should have been easier, right? He and Jade were over. So why did life seem to still be difficult and close to impossible to deal with?Â
jjadelynwest:
Hearing the words coming out of his mouth, she narrowed her eyes before glaring wholeheartedly. The words, hitting a little too close to home, made Jade speculate if there was something more to his lines than just plain improv.  He wont go there, she thought, yet her tense posture told a different story.Â
“Oh so what? my father might be an asshole who’s never given a rat’s ass about me - but he still never deserved what you did to him”.Â
As Beck opened up the space between them, Jade realized she had been holding her breath, causing her to break eye contact for no more than a split second. She followed his eyes to the floor, anticipating what her ex would say next.  He went there.  Jades jaw dropped subtly.
“No. You don’t get to say that” she hissed, whatever issue regarding her imaginary seedlings long forgotten. “You were the one who walked out. You. Closed. That. Door”.Â
He shrugged. “You know what you can do to a closed door? Open it. But no, you didn’t even try. And you shut the door the first time.” God thinking back to sophomore year made him roll his eyes, how stupid that entire situation had been. “I just locked the door. You seem hellbent to stay angry and miserable and I am tired of being dragged into that misery. You want to keep living this way, that is your choice, but I made mine. I pick happiness. And you stopped being happy or making me happy a long time ago. So, stay angry, stay miserable and keep pushing people away. In the end, you will end up alone. But maybe you want that, I don’t know. All I know is I am exhausted and need to focus on taking care of myself because trying to take care of myself and you as well was too much.”Â
Saved by the bell he silently thought as he hopped off the stage, grabbing his backpack, he rushed out of the door, desperate to get away from his class and his past. He rushed inside the boy’s bathroom and locked himself inside the stall, still not completely sure if what had happened had happened. Sighing, he brushed a hand through his hair and waited a mere two minutes before he darted to his next class. He would be glad when he could put this day, this year, this school behind him and just be done with this time of his life.Â
jjadelynwest:
When Jade noticed what looked like Sikowitz seemingly snapping back into reality, she directed her focus at him. Although not for long, as this was not the day for trying to piece together yet another one of her nutty teacher’s stories. Instead, she found her eyes fixating on what looked to be a figurine of a small monkey fully-dressed in cowboy-attire, hanging from a string by the whiteboard behind Sikowitz. At the sound of the clap, she snapped back - not sure how long she had spaced out for, but certain nothing important had slipped her by. She watched as Sikowitz scoured the room with his eyes, knowing from experience that this meant the teacher had a task for them in mind. What he was plotting however, no one would ever be able to guess.
Jade’s eyes widened and she was sure she heard Cat gasp as Sikowitz had chosen his (un)lucky victims.  Great. This is just.. Great, she thought while begrudgingly making her way up onto the stage.
With task in hand, and Sikowitz taking his seat (or rather, crouching down on the floor next to the stage), she turned, allowing her to face Beck directly. Jade couldn’t deny that under different circumstances, this improv challenge would’ve been perfect for her - but as of right now, she’d rather be anywhere else. However, being a firm believer in professionalism, she allows herself one deep breath before forcing her mind into character. Â
“My father was a respectable man.. How could you?! And my seedlings.. my poor seedlings”
If there was one thing Beck had learned it was acting could be tharaputic, it could make you confront your demons, maybe not as directly or as head on as in “the real world” but it was worth trying. Not like he had much of a choice with Sikowitz and the rest of the class waiting. Even though Beck had steeled himself as best he could before he was up on the stage, he felt a pang and he had no idea why. He did his best to ignore it and focus on the assignment at hand. The sooner they finished, the sooner they could get off the stage and about their day.Â
Jade started them off and Beck hesitated for a minute, turning the words in his head before he started speaking. “Respectable? The rare times you speak of him it is never in a positive light. Judgmental? Cold? Closed-Off? Shall I continue? You act as if you two have some wonderful father and daughter bond! HA! You couldn’t hate him anymore if you tried! And whether you want to admit it or not it makes you hate yourself, just a little.”Â
Without realizing it, Beck had closed the gap between them, subtle enough, and he moved back, just as subtly, his eyes on hers. “As for your seedlings, I cannot speak for that is your issue and I have nothing to do with it.” He shrugged and shuffled his feet as he looked down for a minute and up again. “I don’t have much of anything to do with you now, you made sure of that not so long ago.” He stopped again and gave his head a shake as he sighed.Â
jjadelynwest:
Having gone straight home prior to the weekend and locked herself in her room, jade emerged feeling comfortably numb this Monday morning. Although somewhat sleep-deprived, she felt pleased with now having four new short stories under her belt. Even better was the fact that this had left little room to ponder her recent breakup.Â
After spending some time getting ready, she was soon out the door and on her way to Hollywood Arts for her first class of the day; which on Monday mornings (of all mornings) consisted of Mr. Sikowitz’s first period improv class.
Arriving at school earlier than usual, she was among the first students to enter the classroom. Without hesitation, she claimed a chair closest to the windows and sat down. Sikowitz, although physically present, was clearly somewhere else entirely - and so she whipped out her notebook and started to scribble absentmindedly; trying to block out her surroundings entirely while doing so. And so she successfully did until a slight thunk, followed by a familiar voice could be heard next to her.  “Whatchu writing?”.  Lifting her gaze, jade met the redhead’s innocently inquisitive expression. However, her focus shifted automatically when, straight across the room from her, another set of eyes grabbed her attention.Â
Momentarily locking eyes with her ex-boyfriend, she glowered slightly, before turning her focus back to her notebook. “Nothing anymore”, she answered while bitterly crossing out what was already written on the page.
Beck let his mind wander about why he was getting the evil eye since he hadn’t been the one to have ended them for the briefest moment before he brushed it off. Who cared? Not him, not anymore. He sent off a few more texts before tucking the phone away, Monday be damned he had a wonderful night ahead of him and that would get him through the rest of the day. The bell rang and the last few stragglers came in, taking their seats, though Sikowitz was still gone, lost in his own mind for the time being.Â
Finally, he faced the class and went on about how over the weekend he had gone to a see a magic show and somehow ended up in Mexico. Aliens could also have been involved. Naturally, no one knew what to make of the story and the class remained in silence until he finished the half-story/half-rant. Beck briefly wondered if he had had another bad coconut and this was part of the ramifications or if Sikowitz was just being Sikowitz, it truly could have gone either way.Â
Finally, he stopped speaking and abruptly clapped his hands together. His eyes were, for lack of a better word, dancing, and Beck wished he had just skipped, consequences be damned. “Beck, Jade, up here” he said as he nodded to the stage. Yep. Definitely should have skipped. Word got around fast and it seemed as if all the oxygen in the room had been sucked out. Beck moved first, dragging himself up to his feet and to the stage. Best to get whatever was coming over with. “Now, while I was in Mexico I was reintroduced to telenovas which are far more entertaining than our US couterparts. Everything is so...extra! And that is what I want from you two, drama and pain and anger and passion! I want all of that to the max and then some! Action!” Beck wondered if Sikowitz got off on torturing his students or if this was just bad luck.Â
