Road-side flowers
Small specks of colour Dotting lonely, winding roads. They’re Her gift to Her Brother, Who wanders these highways. “Thank you” notes for all He’s Done for Her over the Ages. She picks bright colours, Knowing they’ll grab His attention The next time He passes through. She kisses each flower, Giving them the strength to grow Along rocky barren road-sides.
He does see them. They’re there on the edges of every road. Her little “thank you” notes brighten his day. The road is not always friendly, And sometimes it is lonely. The splashes of colour against greenish-grey Tell Him that He is loved, and never alone. Some he stops to pick, Wreathing them in His hair. More He picks to give to His charges— Those whom He delivers to His Sister’s care.
When She greets His charges, She sees the flowers She made Him And smiles, knowing He got Her message. When it is time for Spring to return, She hugs Her beloved Brother, And together, They wander on the roads.

and im always saying this
thinking about that one wordless calvin and hobbes sunday strip thats just calvins dad ditching his work to go play in the snow... its going to make me cry
ohhhh my god
”#I LOVE that the comic keeps the lens on Calvin’s dad to the degree of not even showing Calvin’s excited face when his dad surprises him, #You can see the joy and excitement of the moment in his pose and reflected in his dad’s expression, #it’s a great little artistic decision, #I realized what gets me about it it’s the hat covering his dad’s head and hair so the dad just looks like Calvin. #you don’t HAVE to show Calvin! You already see him in the dad becoming a kid for a moment you only have to draw that once”

To Mercury, the Beggar-Prince
O Wandering Minister, O Lord of Luck, O Councillor to the Lost
We rejoice to see your twinkling eye upon us
We scan the skies at night to catch you peeking over the horizon
We play the Game of Games in your honor
We sing the Song of Our People, and know that you sing with us We give freely our favor to the beggar, so that you need not favor the thief
Road-keeper, way-finder, stealer of secrets and maker of keys
We share, laugh, dance, and dice in your name
Our table is your table, our fire is your fire,
When we are without food, O Mercury, fill our bellies with laughter
When we are without fire, warm us by the bodies of our kin
When we are without wine, dull our minds with the solace of sleep
Give us your blessings, that the world be less cruel
Give us your kindness, to carry forth this blessing to others
Prince of Beggars! King of Thieves! Lord of Masks!
Hail!
it is important to cling to wonder btw
many people grow up and forget what it feels like to be a child. we must remember this. we have to remember what a joy it is to play. to learn. to build connections. to grow. to experience. we must hold onto the things that awe us. we are changed by what we love
