EARNEST POSTING. while everyone is still working on new year’s resolutions i want to make sure everyone knows about the FREE serial reader app.
if you are trying to read more classics/public domain works but for whatever reason struggle with incorporating reading into your daily life, or you’re just intimidated by huge books, serial reader is a great tool to make reading more approachable. it works much like dracula daily in that it sends you one excerpt at a time (usually about 10-15 minutes of estimated reading time). awesome for commutes, lunch breaks, quick bedtime story, etc.
it’s very customizable. you can change fonts, themes, and you can even take notes and highlight. you can also sync with other reading apps like goodreads (no storygraph yet……. we can hope!). the base app is completely free, but there is a one-time optional upgrade fee of $2.99 USD if you want some extra features. this is all developed by one guy, so the money goes to supporting the creator - although i’m sure apple takes their cut 😑.
there are a ton of works to choose from, currently something like 800+.
you can now also add your own .epubs to break up your own books into daily serials! very cool, serial reader!
this was the best app i added last year so i just want to pass it on. happy reading! :)

“Ken wouldn’t do that to Barbie, it’s out of character!” Babes, that is the point.
Ken and his discovery of the patriarchy and the way it changes him is the exact same as what happens with adolescent boys. You have these guys who were so close to you, wether through friendship or family become people that they aren’t due to both peer pressure and the desire to hold power. Especially with the whole “podcast bro” thing he had going on in the Ken Dojo Casa House scene, Ken represents all the boys that lean into the patriarchy and change for the worst.
Ken was always so sweet, he was stupid and lovable and would do anything for Barbie. Then he got roped into toxic masculinity and all of a sudden he was cruel and pretentious. This is the same path that many of the guys I was friends with as a kid fell down. Barbie represents growing up as a woman and Ken represents growing up as a man.
PSA: bot comments are taking over ao3
The above examples have been provided with the authors' permission to demonstrate what these look like.
Basic rundown:
They are all 3 sentences long
Perfect grammar, capitalization, and punctuation
Like absolutely flawless English teacher-style writing with only a single exclamation mark, ever
No mentions whatsoever of character names, settings, situations, or anything that could be tied to the story
The usernames may be identical to people who exist on ao3, but the name is not clickable, and no profile is associated with it EXCEPT when you directly search for that name. What this means: the comments come from an unregistered (not logged in) reader, bots scrape the site for real usernames, attach that to the comment, and post
Please spread the word about this so authors can filter comments and report them accordingly
There has been some speculation about why this is happening at all, and the best guess is that this is a feature that AI-training story-scraping tools are implementing to try and make their browsing traffic look legitimate
I saw one clip of the Barbie movie on Kelly Clarkson and it’s Margot robbie and America Ferrara’s characters literally just staring at each other smiling and I already ship it
I got the Top 4.47% on this English Vocabulary test
I’m in the last 47.33%
I shouldn’t have taken that test
Am I fucking stupid LMAO
No way some of these words weren’t made up
excerpts from meddlesome little things, an alternate universe in which anakin never turns to the dark side and helps mace windu kill palpatine before order 66 happens.
with the death of the supreme chancellor, the galaxy is thrown into turmoil, and the jedi quickly realize that there is still work to be done. but anakin is now a single father following padme’s death, and the twins are proving to be even stronger in the force than he is. with the help of obi-wan, ahsoka, rex, and cody, anakin does his best to give luke and leia the life that padme would’ve wanted for them. but, as breha organa put it best: it takes a village.
meanwhile, in the far reaches of the galaxy, a young orphan named din djarin is learning what it means to be a mandalorian.

Whoops I’m once again obsessed with the Dangerous Dreams series by @trashquisitor-shirozora
lol I am in such a stressed-out blind rage today from insurance bullshit that I wrote up a glossary of health insurance terms (things like deductibles, premiums, and copays) because all the free guides online are unnecessarily complicated and the only way you can squeeze a dime out of these bullshit companies is to understand their overly-complicated policies. give em hell
This is a GREAT guide folks - it’s simple, straightforward, and deals well with the overly complicated alphabet soup of medical insurance. Knowing this stuff can prove REALLY helpful, and the examples used are a great resource.
POSTING THIS AGAIN!!!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!!!
