I miss when everyone on my dash listened to Welcome to Night Vale so there’s be a good chance that on any ole day someone would reblog a quote that would grab me by the throat and forcibly ascend me to a higher plane where I understood myself and the universe better and with more kindness but also a little spook
“The past is gone, and cannot harm you anymore. And while the future is fast coming for you, it always flinches first and settles in as the gentle present” are you kidding me this quote has propelled me through at least three emotional crises
“The desert seems vast, even endless. And yet scientists tell us that somewhere, even now, there is snow.” That quote literally got me through grieving my brother like WTNV goes HARD
A List of Some of My Favorite Quotes From This Insane Podcast:
"You are beautiful when you do beautiful things."
"The present tense of regret is indecision."
"We understand so much, but the sky behind those lights-- mostly void, partially stars-- that sky reminds us we don't understand even more."
"Be proud of your place in the Cosmos. It is small and yet it is."
"Believe in yourself. You are an ancient, absent god, discussed only rarely by literary scholars. So if you don't believe, no one will."
"Death is only the end if you assume the story is about you."
“Whisper a dangerous secret to someone you care about. Now they have the power to destroy you, but they won’t. That’s what love is.”
"Are we living a life that is safe from harm? Of course not. We never are. But that’s not the right question. The question is are we living a life that is worth the harm?"
"When we talk about teenagers, we adults often talk with an air of scorn, of expectation for disappointment. And this can make people who are presently teenagers feel very defensive. But what everyone should understand is that none of us are talking to the teenagers that exist now, but talking back to the teenager we ourselves once were – all stupid mistakes and lack of fear, and bodies that hadn’t yet begun to slump into a lasting nothing. Any teenager who exists now is incidental to the potent mix of nostalgia and shame with which we speak to our younger selves."
"We are not history yet. We are happening now. How miraculous is that?"
"Wednesday has been cancelled due to a scheduling error."
"We have nothing to fear except ourselves. We are unholy, awful people."
"A million dollars isn’t cool. You know what’s cool? A basilisk."
"There's nothing under your bed. There's nothing in your closet. Nothing waits in every darkness. Nothing is the most terrifying thing of all."
"The night sky is ten miles wide, eight miles deep, and floats three miles up. Its favourite food is grape jelly. It wants to be a drummer."
"Look to the sky. You will not find answers there, but you will certainly see what everyone is screaming about."
"Ignorance might not actually be bliss, but it is certainly less work."
"And now, a special report. Crocodiles: Can they eat your children? *YES.*"
"Lie down and look up at the ceiling and breathe with those curiously fragile lungs of yours and remind yourself: Don’t worry. Don’t worry. All is as it was meant to be. It was meant to be lonely and terrifying and unfair and fleeting. Don’t worry."
"As long as I’m reminding myself things, I’m a good person, worthy of love – both from myself and others."
"Guns don't kill people! It's impossible to be killed by a gun. We are all invincible to bullets and it's a miracle!"
"Everything is exciting! Particularly existence. Existence is the most thrilling fact of all."
"There is a monster under your bed. A monster at your window. A monster any place you imagine one. You project your monsters on the world."
"You miss 100% of the bank robberies you don't commit."
"I like my coffee like I like my nights. Dark, endless, and impossible to sleep through. "
"A friendly desert community where the sun is hot, the moon is beautiful, and mysterious lights pass overhead while we all pretend to sleep. Welcome to Night Vale."
"And now, the weather."
I discovered this podcast at the beginning of high school, and let me tell you, it rewired my synapses.
Not only was it my first experience with positive LGBT representation, it was the show I clung to when everything else went to shit. Whatever was going on in my life, I knew I had this show in my corner, making me laugh, making me cry, making me feel okay about my place in the universe.
I owe the creators of this podcast more than I could express.
"the lights over the Arby's" is such an intrinsically queer piece of writing that it hits me *hard* every time.
Jason's still weirdly colorful, Tim's still short, and Dick's still poofy, everything is perfectly in order.
I love that I'm calling Tim short but he's less than half an inch shorter than I am-
Anyway- it's 2:00 a.m. I'm tired. But I'm done. Goodnight- morning- thing-
Edit: Wow- okay- you guys- really like this one- A: thank you, you're all very nice. And B: I have more if you'd like to see them, they're not as fun as birds without all the belts and pouches, but Wally's in my opinion is sorta pretty and I haven't really redone Bart's but that seems pretty entertaining to mess around with. C: It's midnight. I don't know why, but it's midnight.
The Secret To A Relatable Villain: An Illustrated Guide
@moonsp1r1t asked:
Do you have any advice for writing villain motivations, especially making them relatable?
A while ago, I made a realization that was life changing:
Villains can – and frequently do – have exactly the same motivations as heroes.
Think of them as the shadows, the inverted versions, of benevolent desires.
I’ll show you what I mean:
1. Love
(GIF source.)
The hero:
The hero wants love and validation, and earns it through their actions – namely, treating those they care about with support and value.
Examples: Megamind, Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice, Quasimodo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
(GIF source.)
The Villain:
The villain wants love and validation, and believes others owe it to them. They’ll frequently get enraged and violent when the objects of their affection deny them.
Examples: Tighten from Megamind, Severus Snape from Harry Potter, Frollo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Ross from Friends.
2. Power
(GIF source.)
The hero:
The hero wants power in order to gain agency and autonomy for themselves and/or promote justice and improve the lives of others.
Examples: T’Challa from Black Panther, Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones.
(GIF source.)
The villain:
The villain wants power in order to dominate others and to do what they want without consequence.
Examples: Killgrave from Jessica Jones.
3. Family
(GIF source.)
The hero:
The hero will do whatever it takes to protect their family, while abiding by a code of underlying morals that they will not violate.
Examples: Dean Winchester from Supernatural, Joyce Byers from Stranger Things, Marlon from Finding Nemo, the man and the boy from The Road.
The villain:
The villain will do whatever it takes to protect their family, including taking away their freedom, abusing them, or hurting and killing other innocent families.
(GIF source.)
Examples: Eddie’s mom from IT, John Winchester from Supernatural, Mother Gothel from Tangled, whoever Bruce Willis’ character in Looper was.
4. Safety
(GIF source.)
The hero:
The hero was raised in an abusive, violent environment. They’ll do whatever it takes to never have to experience that again, and to make sure others never have to suffer in the same way.
Examples: Finn and Rey from Star Wars, Katniss from Hunger Games.
(GIF source.)
The villain:
The villain was raised in an abusive, violent environment. They’ll do whatever it takes to never experience that again, including doing the exact same thing to other people.
Examples: That one dude from A Series of Unfortunate Events, Severus Snape (again.)
5. Justice
(GIF source.)
The hero:
The hero wants a remedy for injustice, and goes about it by attacking the source of the corruption or providing a platform for the truth to be told.
Examples: Every classic superhero, Robin Hood, The original trio from Star Wars, Aibileen, Minny, and Skeeter from The Help.
(GIF source.)
The villain:
The villain wants a remedy for injustice, and goes about it by hurting innocents to get an audience or power.
Examples: Killmonger from Black Panther, Magneto from X-Men.
The realization that evil or destructive people are human, and, essentially, want the same things as good people, is a realization that makes them easier to write in an identifiable way.
I hope this helps, and happy writing! <3
Tim Drake Fic Recs
Hey everyone! I recently hit a giant milestone with this blog which is staggering to me so I thought it would be fun to put together a fic rec of my favorite Tim Drake stories. That way you have more content to go to!
Here we go!
My absolute favorite:
Kodokuna Shojo: A Lonely Girl by C. R. Scott
Ignores the DCnU reboot A tale of two Robins wrapped up in an Asian-style horror story. Tim Drake goes to Japan for business, both for Wayne Enterprises and Batman Incorporated. However, when he returns to Gotham City, it’s Damian Wayne who discovers he brought along more from his trip overseas than just his luggage and mission report.
I love love love this story. Tim is written beautifully and it really explores his and Damian’s relationship. Not to mention I’m a sucker for ghost stories. It’s complete and short and sweet. Has Constantine in it at the end!!
Never A Hero by iesika
Sometimes, if a man is lucky, he gets a second chance to do the most important thing he’s never done.
Love this story too! Explores the idea that Ra’s Al Ghul brings Jack Drake back from the dead to lure Tim back to the League. Jack has to see what his son has become now that he no longer has the Robin mask.
Heart, Humble by Betty
Back then, all the boys his age had hero-worshipped costumed vigilantes. Jack supposes they still do.
I’m a sucker for anything with Tim and his dad trying to establish their relationship post the Robin reveal.
Lifelines by pikuxumi
Now complete! The Batfamily is one big mess. Richard intends to change that, but his time is running out. NO SLASH.
I know what you’re saying. Timmers! This isn’t a Tim story this is a Richard story. True, but Tim in this story is just so good. Honestly, this story is good for all batboy fans. Just such good bonding :)
The Impossible Journey by RavingNarniacAnarane
Note: Damian blames Drake. When Dick takes the opportunity to forge some brotherly bonding time, he didn’t expect it to turn so deadly. Following the mysterious disappearance of Tim’s uncle, the four bat boys (yes,Jason reluctantly included) find themselves taking a long plunge down towards the Earth’s core, and are left attempting to find a way back. And as Jason’s prefers: Alive.
Okay, shameless plug. I wrote this a few years ago. If you’re interested, here it is. (But like I said, I wrote it a few years ago)
UNFINISHED RECS *Warning, the following recs are not complete and some haven’t updated in a long time! Others are still on going! I recommend you check before reading if that’s something that bothers you!*
A Displaced Red Robin by dragonprincess1988
Tim gets transported to the cartoon Young Justice world, and he’s not sure he knows how to deal with it. Attention: If you want to know about Artemis or people from Tim’s world the final note on my profile is for you. Also, a special thank you to angel-gidget over at Tumblr, who made the wonderful cover art for this story.
I love this one. Really explores the difference between Young Justice and the Red Robin comics with Tim. Also some great bonding with Tim, Dick and Jason.
Broken Bonds by Alpha Male Wolf
Red Robin is captured by an unknown suspect and it’s up to the Bat-Family to get him back. Dick, Jason, Damian, Bruce, Stephanie, and many more team up. Can they pull together before it’s too late? And what does this man want with Tim anyway? Rated T for gore, torture, and swearing.
The bat fam team up to save Red Robin. Honestly very good. I’ve reread this a few times now.
The Birds Who Smile by Raberba Girl
“Dark Nights: Metal” AU where Bruce adopts three of the Robins who once belonged to the Batman Who Laughs.
*As of 15 December 2018, Chapters 1-10.2 have been mostly-edited. Everything after that has only received bare minimum proofreading.
I actually loved the Dark metal story run.So if you did, I think you may like this too. Lots of Daddy!Bats here. Watching Dick, Tim, Jason and Tim deal with the three former Batman Who Laughs robins who are actually themselves but younger. It’s complicated to explain. But I honestly can’t recommend this more.
Last but not least:
Fracture by wintersnight
Tim Drake has come into his own. He’s a soldier, a leader, a vigilante. Somehow, the Batfamily missed how far away he’d gotten.
**On a temporary hiatus**
This is the best thing to happen to pre-n52 Red Robin in my opinion. This shows Tim becomming his own hero and leaving the Batfamily without the Bats even realizing it till its too late. The rest of the story is the Bats trying to fix what they’ve done. I will warn there is some slash work in here!!
Alright! That’s it. I’m sure I love a lot more but these are the ones that stick with me the most. ALWAYS feel free to recommend fics to me!
Timothy Drake has gone from my least favorite BatBoy to one of my favorites, and I’ll tell you why. That boy has spent his life neglected, ignored, and forgotten, and what does he do? He looks out his bedroom window, spies a family that he likes, and says, “I want that.” And then he goes out and gets it. He throws himself into a situation where he might—and is!—rejected again and again, but he sticks with it, because these people need him. And this neglected little bean who just wants love FINDS and MAKES himself a family with these dysfunctional, reckless people who nevertheless have so much love to pour into him. BUT THEN everything just goes to heck, and this kid who has known so much abandonment is forced to deal with a father figure who willingly keeps around other kids who emotionally and physically(!!) damage him and who then seemingly UP AND DIES and no one will believe my small child when he says the father figure is still alive AND the big brother he’s always wanted, his childhood hero who he literally watched from afar his entire life, REPLACES him with the “real” son of his adopted father figure, a boy who can be a “real” brother to this big brother figure, and who takes EVERY OPPORTUNITY to remind my shy little peep of a boy that he doesn’t belong, he’s never really belonged, he never really WILL belong. AND STILL! And still he sticks around! He still hunts down their dad when no one believes him, he still serves alongside the man he considers his brother, he still sticks up for the once-dead homicidal man who literally STABBED him, and he tries to keep his place in this loud family of extroverted people who GO and DO and make spontaneous plans and he’s just this introverted little muffin who feels awkward and apart and just maybe wants to be invited to things sometimes and not be overlooked. In this essay I will—

Jason Todd Fic Recs That You Have Probably Have Not Read Before [Part 1]
just some fics! enjoy! :D
We’re not in crime alley anymore by Chimaera-Hero
When Bruce returned to the car that night, it was a nine-year-old holding the tire iron, not a young teen. Somehow, Jason Todd at nine was even more precocious than Jason Todd at 12. Bruce has his work cut out for him.
something to mend by butterflysky
When someone sits across from Jason, he hardly notices he’s so absorbed in the pages before him. But he notices when a hand reaches for the sugar next to him, and then he looks up, and he’s so shocked he can’t think of a single thing to say.
“Jason,” Bruce says evenly. Jason just stares.
(Or: Bruce and Jason attempt to mend their relationship in the immediate aftermath of Under the Red Hood, one meeting at a time.)
Jason Todd is not your Big Brother by starknjarvis
Jason isn't part of the Wayne family. No one told his siblings that.
Grave Danger by starknjarvis
Jason wakes up in a coffin. His comms are down, and he's surrounded by dark and silence.
...The comms are not down for Batman. He can hear every scream.
Homecoming by Ionaperidot
Your son’s grave. It’s been disturbed.”
In which people actually notice when Jason breaks out of his grave, and Bruce finds him before Talia does.
Reclaiming Innocence by MurtaghMonzanson (WIP)
Jason Todd was kidnapped at nine-years-old and given two options. Work for his keep, or be forced to to work for his keep.
His life was not pleasant, but Jason was nothing if not a fighter, and dammit if was he going to let the hell around him kill who he was as a person. Or his dreams of growing up and going to college.
Those dreams suddenly came a little more into focus, when his idiot of a pimp accidentally tried to rent him to Bruce Wayne. Poor bastard could have never guessed he was the Batman himself. Heck, not even Jason figured that out, at first. And Batman had practically adopted him.
Bird by Bird by laceymcbain
Bullets, knives, a three story fall, even a fucking crowbar hadn't managed to keep Jason down permanently, but Dick Grayson (and the rest of his "family") was going to kill him with kindness.
From the Alley by bluebein
Jason Todd stumbles upon something bizarre when looting for scraps one night, thus changing the course of several lives.
life if well lived by CaptainOzone
Jason wakes up from a time-travel mishap to find Thomas and Martha Wayne hovering over him.
Just another day in the life, right?
...Not quite.
The Most Important Thing by Ionaperidot
"He pulls off his stupid helmet, and then the domino mask beneath it.
Which is when Dick loses his grip on the support beams and falls, just barely escaping a broken ankle, and his dead baby brother points a gun at his head."
Jason is alive, and the only thing that matters is bringing him home.
Hide The Bullet by WorkingChemistry
Jason’s lost his teammates, shot the Penguin, and lost his family. He’s got nothing left. He didn’t ask to be brought back; he was happier when he was dead. There’s only one way to fix everything.
Tim and Dick disagree.
Not All Kidnappings Are Bad by Cdelphiki
While out on patrol one night, Bruce encounters a kidnapping attempt. A pretty routine night, unfortunately.
When the victim in question happens to be a 9-year-old Jason Todd, however, Bruce finds himself getting a little too attached to a child he just met. Was it okay to kidnap a child right off the street and keep him?
If He Had Come by bronwe_iris
Jason Todd has been a prisoner of the Joker for nine months. Then, against all odds and all hope, Batman rescues Jason and brings him back to Wayne Manor to recover. But has Batman come too late to save what is left of Jason? (AU of the Arkham Knight video game)

In 1990, the high school dropout rate for Dolly Parton's hometown of Sevierville, Tennessee was at 34% (Research shows that most kids make up their minds in fifth/sixth grade not to graduate). That year, all fifth and sixth graders from Sevierville were invited by Parton to attend an assembly at Dollywood. They were asked to pick a buddy, and if both students completed high school, Dolly Parton would personally hand them each a $500 check on their graduation day. As a result, the dropout rate for those classes fell to 6%, and has generally retained that average to this day.
Shortly after the success of The Buddy Program, Parton learned in dealing with teachers from the school district that problems in education often begin during first grade when kids are at different developmental levels. That year The Dollywood Foundation paid the salaries for additional teachers assistants in every first grade class for the next 2 years, under the agreement that if the program worked, the school system would effectively adopt and fund the program after the trial period.
During the same period, Parton founded the Imagination Library in 1995: The idea being that children from her rural hometown and low-income families often start school at a disadvantage and as a result, will be unfairly compared to their peers for the rest of their lives, effectively encouraging them not to pursue higher education. The objective of the Imagination library was that every child in Sevier County would receive one book, every month, mailed and addressed to the child, from the day they were born until the day they started kindergarten, 100% free of charge. What began as a hometown initiative now serves children in all 50 states, Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom, mailing thousands of free books to children around the world monthly.
On March 1, 2018 Parton donated her 100 millionth book at the Library of Congress: a copy of "Coat of Many Colors" dedicated to her father, who never learned to read or write.
Happy Birthday Dolly Parton!
My siblings and I received a book a month from Dolly Parton from the time we were born to age five or six. I am so unbelievably grateful to this woman, you have no idea. Local hero.
I offer you: TimKon shenanigans that went wrong-

HEY YOU YEAH YOU
DO YOU LIKE FAKE MARRIAGE STORIES?
DO YOU LIKE SPIES??
DO YOU LIKE SMOL CHILDREN WITH PSYCHIC POWERS???
THEN SIT THE FUCK DOWN CAUSE I HAVE A NEW MANGA FOR YOU
MEET SPY X FAMILY
THE MAN IS AGENT TWILIGHT, A SPY WHO HAS DISCARDED EVERYTHING ABOUT HIS PAST IN OrDER TO WORK FOR THE COUNTRY OF WESTALIS IN OPPOSITION TO THE COUNTRY OF OSTANIA
KINDA COLD WAR-ISH
HE KICKS ASS, HAS ALL THE GADGETS AND CAN CREATE MISSION IMPOSSIBLE-LIKE FACE-CHANGING MASKS
HE’S THE KINDA GUY YOU REALLY DON’T WANNA FUCK AROUND WITH
FOR HIS NEXT JOB HE’S GOTTA TAKE OUT A POLITICIAN WHO ONLY COMES OUT IN PUBLIC FOR HIS SON’S ELITE SCHOOL REUNIONS
AND TO INFILTRATE THAT AGENT TWILIGHT IS GONNA NEED
*DRUM THE FUCKING ROLLS*
TO ADOPT A KID!
THIS IS ANYA
SHE SMOL
SHE CUTE
SHE A RUNAWAY CHILD FROM AN UNDERGROUND EXPERIMENT THAT GAVE HER THE POWER TO READ PEOPLE’S THOUGHTS
SHE MAY HAVE HORNS, ANTENNAE OR JUST A BOW, I’M NOT SURE
SHE LEARNS TWILIGHT IS A SPY AND TRICKS HIM INTO ADOPTING HER AND THUS BEGINS THE FAKE!PARENT AND CHILD SHENANIGANS WITH A HEALTHY DOSE OF CUTE BONDING
CAN YOU FEEL THE DIABETES YET
BUT THE SCHOOL ALSO REQUIRES MEETINGS TO BE WITH BOTH PARENTS, SO TWILIGHT NEEDS TO FIND A WIFE
THUS ENTERS YORU BRIAR
SHE’S A 27-YEAR-OLD OFFICE WALLFLOWER
SHE’S AN ORPHAN WHO RAISED HER YOUNGER BROTHER ON HER OWN
SHE STICKS HER LEGGY UP REAL FAR
SHE’S ALSO A HITWOMAN UNDER THE CODENAME “THORN PRINCESS” WHO ESPECIALIZES IN KILLING LOADS OF PEOPLE WITH HUGE NEEDLES AND CAN PUNCH YOU SO HARD YOU’LL THANK HER
(SHE’S STRONGER THAN TWILIGHT TOO)
WHEN SHE LIES TO HER BROTHER ABOUT HAVING A BOYFRIEND TO GET HIM OFF HER BACK, HER BROTHER INSISTS IN MEETING THE MAN PERSONALLY AND WILL EVEN REJECT A JOB PROMOTION UNTIL THEY MEET
AND SO THESE TWO CASUALLY MEET AND WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM ANYA, WHO FINDS OUT YORU IS A HITWOMAN AND REALIZES HAVING A SPY AND A HITWOMAN FOR PARENTS WOULD BE ENTERTAINING AS ALL HELL, THEY DECIDE TO FAKE A RELATIONSHIP TO HELP EACH OTHER’S GOALS
TWILIGHT WILL PRETEND TO BE YORU’S BOYFRIEND TO GET HER BROTHER OFF HER BACK
YORU WILL PRETEND TO BE TWILIGHT’S WIFE SO ANYA CAN GET IN THE ELITE SCHOOL
BUT BECAUSE THE POLITICAL CLIMATE IS SO HEAVY WITH SUSPICION AND PEOPLE ARE BEING FALSELY ACCUSED TO BEING SPIES ALL THE TIME, THEY DECIDE TO FAKE-MARRY FOR REAL, JUST TO APPEAR LIKE A NORMAL COUPLE AND THROW SUSPICION OFF THEM AND THEIR RESPECTIVE SECRET JOBS
BUT JUST UNTIL THEY MEET THEIR GOALS RIGHT GUYS
THERE’S DEFINITELY NOT GONNA BE ANY REAL FEELINGS DEVELOPING OR ANYTHING RIGHT GUYS
YES THAT IS A GRENADE PIN TWILIGHT USED AS A WEDDING RING GUYS
AND YOU KNOW WHAT THE ACTUAL, GREATEST THING IS? NOBODY KNOWS THE OTHER PARTY’S SECRET
TWILIGHT DOESN’T KNOW YORU IS A HITWOMAN
YORU DOESN’T KNOW TWILIGHT IS A SPY
NOBODY KNOWS ANYA IS PSYCHIC
ANYA KNOWS EVERYTHING BUT PRETENDS NOT TO SO SHE CAN HAVE A FAMILY
IT’S SUCH A STUPID, HILARIOUS CLUSTERFUCK THAT WILL BLOW UP IN GOD KNOWS WHICH WAY AND I CAN’T FUCKING WAIT FOR IT

AND I HOPE THIS POST WILL CONVINCE MORE PEOPLE TO READ IT AND KEEP IT RUNNING FOR MANY YEARS TO COME
How Fans see Batfamily: THE found family of comics, a large and diverse team of individuals bonding over their shared trauma, loss, goals and ideals, full of wonderful interactions.
How DC sees Batfamily: Batman’s glorified SWAT Team, they lose to make the villain look better before Batman beats him.
How Fans see Dick Grayson: One of the most well-connected and developed characters, charming, sexy, inspiring, pillar of DC Universe in his own right.
How DC sees Dick Grayson: Should never be allowed to stop being Robin, Batman’s KID sidekick. Now he makes Batman look old.
How Fans see Barbara Gordon: Oracle - a badass disabled genius who became the backbone of the superhero community.
How DC sees Barbara Gordon: Batgirl - a sexy redhead in tight spandex there for men to drool over. It’s an important role only she and she alone can and must hold at all costs.
How Fans see Jason Todd: A tragic figure who suffered so much and now lashes out but there is still love in him and he just wants someone to accept it. Also, a lovable dork.
How DC sees Jason Todd: We turned shit into gold when he gave him guns, now we can steal Punisher fans from Marvel.
How Fans see Tim Drake: In a way he may be the only one to understand how much Batman needs Robin. He redefined what Robin is and took the identity out of Dick’s shadow.
How DC sees Tim Drake: Too smart, steals Batman’s spotlight. Not edgy, we don’t know how to sell that.
How Fans see Stephanie Brown: Despite her own tragic past she is the ray of sunshine and optimism in the Batfamily and also the first to challenge Bruce when he gets his head up his own ass again.
How DC sees Stephanie Brown: Tim Drake’s girlfriend. That’s it. That’s all she was, that’s all she is, that’s all she will EVER be.
How Fans see Cassandra Cain: And incredibly complex character, with fighting skills and moral code surpassing even Batman, true paragon yet struggling with her own demons that make her so much more interesting.
How DC sees Cassandra Cain: A mistake.
How Fans see Damian Wayne: He uses his arrogance to hide his guilt, trauma and insecurities, the best thing about him is to watch him learning to trust other people and grow.
How DC sees Damian Wayne: The only true heir of Batman, superior to everyone else because he is his only real child, blood is thicker than water, as such he is a walking perfection who does not need to grow or reach to people for he has no weakness and is second only to his father at everything.
How Fans see DC: God, they’re wasting so much potential. But maybe if we keep showing Batfam our love they’ll finally see what storytelling gold they’re sitting on.
How DC sees Fans: Cattle. Sheep. Who cares what they want? they don’t matter. Making what we want is the only thing that matters. if fans disagree, fuck them! They’re gonna buy it anyway!

This is the perfect summarise.
TIM DRAKE’S CANONICAL ORIGIN - No fanon, no misconceptions, just what’s on the page. “BATMAN NEEDS ROBIN.”
When it comes to Tim’s origin and general backstory, there’s been a LOT of misconceptions and misinformation spread about it, that either change the vibe, or the entire events in-general.
So as Tim as a character means a lot to me. I thought it’d be good post to make a big post explaining Tim’s origin as best and clear as I can, as most people don’t have access to his original origin to be able to see for themselves.
It essentially goes like this:

Can I offer some character analysis on this Fitzfriday?
The moment that always gets me in the movie (with regards to Eugene) is the way he reacts to seeing the Stabbingtons in the prison.
There’s a moment of confusion there, which immediately switches to anger (and I’m pretty sure this is the only time we see Eugene genuinely angry in the movie). And it’s interesting to think what must be going on in his head, because he doesn’t have as much information as the viewer does. He knows that the Stabbintons somehow knew about Rapunzel’s magic hair, that they were planning on kidnapping her and selling her for that power, and that they got the better of him and were in all likelihood going after her next. But now they’re here and she’s not, and he’s understandably pretty ticked off, but what’s interesting is his priority when he demands answers.
He doesn’t say, “Where is she?” or “What did you do with her?” His first priority is the security leak. This is in all likelihood simply because the Stabbingtons are not that dangerous. Every time they turn up as antagonists in the show, the heroes are always handicapped in some way; no weapons, hopelessly outnumbered, literally locked in a cell. (One can only imagine what would happen if they went after Eugene one day when he had a good night’s sleep, a sword, and plenty of room to hand them their own asses. It would probably be funny.)
Anyway, point is, Eugene knows how wildly incompetent the Stabbingtons are, and he’s seen Rapunzel easily handle much more dangerous enemies, and her not being here is indicative not of her being safe, but at least of the most obvious danger not being a thing. He’s certainly got no reason to believe Gothel and the Stabbingtons teamed up.
And once he concludes Gothel is involved, he goes through a whole other shift in facial expression:
It’s not that he wasn’t worried before, but the Stabbingtons are at least a clear and obvious danger, the kind Rapunzel would know to run from. The thing that interests me is how he immediately registers Gothel as a danger. He doesn’t know anything about the Flower or her using Rapunzel beyond what he might have conjectured, and in fact as far as he knows she’s her actual mother, but he instantly recognizes her as the worse option (and one that Rapunzel might go with willingly). I think he knew, or at least guessed, that Gothel would try to relocate Rapunzel now that the secret was out (even if the only person who knew everything was on his way to the gallows), thus, “Let’s see how fast you can run,” and “I thought I’d never see you again!”
The question for me is at what point did he realize that Rapunzel’s home life was not great? Part of me thinks pretty early on:
But another part of me thinks not until the campfire scene:
In reality it was probably a gradual realization. I don’t think it fully sunk in for him that Rapunzel had literally never been outside before until the campfire scene, but I think he started picking up red flags a long time before that. Definitely as early as leaving the tower, but aside from the fact he was still serving his own interests at that point, he probably wasn’t sure that early. He grew up in an orphanage, and probably doesn’t really know what a healthy parent/child relationship looks like, although obviously he is eventually able to arrive at the conclusion of “not fucking this”.
