The Artemis II crew captured an impressive image of the Earth from 41,000 miles away this morning.
It is the first time since 1972 that human beings see an Earth in a growing phase in its entirety.
Find out where to watch the launch and continued mission coverage here!

Wait…why are busses depicted as a dangerous way to commute in American media?
I never really thought about it before but busses are one of the safest ways to commute to work I can imagine. I’m not ever worried when I take the train but if I had to pick which I’d feel more safe on it would be the bus.
I used to travel between towns late at night when I was a teenager/young adult woman and it would be straight up cozy and a nice way to end my day.
I think a bus feels safter to me because the driver is always right there in case something happens, while you’re kinda on your own on a train late at night.
So did you ever see Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Remember the plotline about the Red Car trolley being bought out and dismantled by Cloverleaf, and the villain's Big Reveal that they planned to demolish Toontown and put a highway through it, and people would use it because the Red Car trolley wasn't there to use anymore and so they'd be FORCED to buy a car?
That really happened, in the US. Only instead of the villain being an evil cartoon posing as a judge, the villain was General Motors and Ford and all the big car companies. They bought public transit lines and dismantled them. They lobbied congress to fund the interstate highway system and they CONTINUE to lobby the us govt to keep trains and public transit from having any money, while making sure the roads get lots of it. They are responsible not only for the dismantling of public transit but also the public's perception that public transit is bad and even dangerous.
American media thinks busses and trains are dangerous because the car companies have spent DECADES and billions of dollars on propaganda making sure Americans think that so they will continue to buy cars and not question how much roads and highways have destroyed the landscape.
people will really come into kink spaces and say you can't forcefem women like there wasn't a feature length movie about an elderly gay man forcefemming a woman as part of scheme to thwart an elaborate assassination attempt before the killer even determined their target
What... What movie is this.
ain't no way in hell this post even breaks 500
this is the Phoenix zoo, she's got plenty of outdoor space 👍
I'll also say she looks super healthy and happy in that video so she probably loves her cool concrete room #myconkrete
Like, did you not notice the door that leads outside?
Chris Eccleston on that shit let him talk!!!!
I do think Pokopia is a little bit cringe since it’s REALLY leaning into this Pikachu thing. Like, of course you can do a Pikachu sofa and a Pikachu plush to summon a Pikachu. We get it, it’s the mascot! Some of us are sick of seeing this guy 🙄
In Pokopia, they established that, in addition to climate change causing Pokémon to migrate out of their natural environments, the Pokémon are being released from the PC when the computer senses a viable habitat nearby.
So it's plausible that the Pokémon that normally can't natively be found in Kanto were not originally stored in the PC in Kanto, they were stored by a trainer in their home region but the computer sensed a suitable environment in Kanto and yeeted them there first.
(Which has to suck assuming humanity hasn't spent multiple generations in space. Like clearly this was NOT anyone's first priority and it shouldn't have been but can you imagine finally returning to Paldea ready to reunite with your beloved Happiny and it's not there because it's moved into the wreckage of the SS Anne?)
Thus we can also conclude that for Kanto Pokémon that aren't in the game, such as Goldeen or Beedrill, the environment was, for whatever reason, so fucked that it was beyond Ditto's ability to make a suitable habitat.
But according to the game humanity, with a few exceptions, wouldn't be able to bring their Pokémon to space.
So I think the real question is "which Pokémon got to go to space." My money's on Starmie
OH IM SORRY IS THAT NOT ENOUGH FOR YOU?
Met up with the god of the sea, and he told me I was doing a good job. RIP Odysseus, but I’m built different
people on tumblr might lack reading comprehension but reddit users are inventing new forms of media illiteracy i never thought were possible
tumblr is a great website because you can report nazis and violence rape threats and people doxxing you. and you have to write an entire essay explaining exactly what rules in their own tos it broke and why breaking the rules is against the rules. and staff will have a <5% chance of getting back to you only to say "yeah sorry. even if we dont agree with the exact content in the post, it's not against the rules and doesn't violate our tos according to our own internal decision. so we wont remove it"
and then they nuke countless trans women's entire blogs for "any reason or no reason at all"
"cigarette" implies the existence of a much larger "cigar"
i recovered by the time i hit post but when i first had this thought i had genuinely forgotten cigars exist
Seattle Central College is trying to close the only public wood tech college in the state of Washington, which is one of if not the only avenue into woodworking trades for people who usually aren't hired to be trained on-site: queer, trans, neurodivergent and disabled students, and women. Which is exactly what most of the students in the program are.
The reason according to the college is that they want to sell the building to fix the school's budget; they also claim the wood tech college has a severe budget deficit, but they've failed to follow through on any promises to try to fix that (including hiring a permanent dean, so the school has someone to advocate for them... which they haven't had in at least a decade).
The reason according to some students & staff is that Seattle College's VP has a grudge against the lead carpentry instructor & has been trying to get her program shut down for years to get rid of her.
Students are trying to make some noise about it, in hopes that the college backs down and they can work towards the long-term fixes Seattle College keeps failing to follow through on.
The future is unclear for one of the Puget Sound region’s only comprehensive training programs for carpentry and boatbuilding.
If you can sign this little petition & share this around, it'd help the school out a ton!
It shows the school they're going to get pushback, which has changed their mind about this in the past.
Save Wood Technology Center's 90 year Legacy
It would be really cool if we could help get this to 1k!
There are less than 200 students at the wood tech college, so makes a really big impact when anyone else signs and shows that people outside of just students really care about this.
There were like 230 signatures when I first posted this- I'm really grateful to everyone who's already helped out. It means a lot!
Finding out Hans Zimmer is a transphobe genuinely had me falling to my knees
Welp, that's nice to know.
