Some endings to books, stories, fanfics, etc. are actually devastating. Because what do you mean this character finally got their happy ending after fighting for their fucking life, enemies to lovers style or something, married to their former rival with three adorable children and living their best life “and then I woke up.” AH- BITCH????

CONTINUES TO SHOW VAGGIE HOW TO FIGHT. Carmilla took into consideration that Vaggie didn’t get comfortable fighting with long hair and decided to show her how to use certain aspects and show her how to fight without her hair getting in the way.

OKAY. Thank you to that ONE PERSON that asked me for this theory (I love you please don’t leave) because I was literally vibrating trying to hold it in.
For this one, we have one major piece of evidence.

So here’s where the theory comes into play. This is from the very first episode, where Annabel gaslight gatekeep girlboss Lee meets Lenore ignore instigate ignite Vandernacht (if I spelled it wrong please correct me) meet each other. This panel is exactly from when Annabel and Lenore first enter the academy.
The question is…
Why is the line through Lenore’s head?
We know that it’s common for art or anything of the kind to have a line resembling a heartbeat around the heart when dealing with a stressful and/or important situation. So why is it through her head? Wouldn’t it be through her heart?
Before I answer that, we have another piece of evidence. When Annabel manifested, the deans and professor maid doll informed the audience that she was a lady in white. This specter is a result of a bride being killed/betrayed on her wedding day. And we also know that Annabel, provided with context clues as well, was shot through the heart on her wedding day. Her cause of death, a heart shaped hole literally in her chest with a red crystal to symbolise her heart if it was there. Lenore also killed her past self (see my previous theory for that explanation) and began a new life as Leo, and use this identity to be with and marry Annabel. We see this intention when Lenore puts the sheet music for Annabel’s song she had requested, and the ring(box).
Lenore had a gun in her suitcase, her belongings when she arrived. BUT I am NOT saying that Lenore killed Annabel, but suggesting that Annabel was assassinated on their wedding day by someone close to them, either causing Lenore to shoot herself through the head out of grief from her dead fiancé, or spending her last moments desperately trying to save Annabel, after she was shot, from bleeding out and dying, then being shot in the head herself by the same person. This would be Lenore’s cause of death, and perhaps her specter may relate to this instead.
This would also have the symbolism of the saying/metaphor that heart and mind go hand in hand. As we see in many many episodes, Lenore mainly acts on impulse and emotion, heart. While Annabel thinks more things through and usually has a plan, mind, however this can be visa versa and switch between the both of them, seeing as they both have a sort of trading in controlling and hiding their emotions. While they are both sorta mentally ill while they were alive, Annabel has the heart while Lenore has the mind. This would trace back to Annabel being shot through the heart, and Lenore being shot through the head. Both of them dying on their wedding day, and living on together in the afterlife and possibly rebirth.

Lastly, I am not a fast pass user so I do not know what’s going on after the hiatus and I’m crying about have to wait for a month. Okay Okay this is SO good because I think this ties in with Duke's situation specifically. I was going to make about on how Lenore and Annabel Lee dies but this works too. My post about Duke talks about him being in the right situation to die during the Thalassophobia trial but not having the right emotion which is acceptance of his death. Now, with him being trapped in the wall, it seems like he has a close enough situation AND the right feeling.
And with Lenore being shot in the head theory feels like she is experiencing the same thing he felt. She feels that piercing shot in her head while running away from something. That something being the little orbs but think about the situation like this: She's running, panicked away from something before she meets her demise. The demise in her current situation could be nevermore academy.
This makes me think that both Lenore and Annabel were killed via assassination but Lenore caught on. I have the sneakiest feeling the Annabel was killed by her father too. It also makes sense with the phrase "Betrayed by the one who loves her above all else. Murdered."
Or this could tell that Lenore saw Annabel get shot, ran towards her and then was shot in the head.
If it would be Annabel's father, then that also means that he teamed up with Lenore's father. This theory feels like a stretch but the scenario is that Thaddeus (Lenore's father) finds out about Lenore's new identity. Tells Annabel's father who then might break the news to Annabel who's defiant and wants to go along with the marriage regardless and then they both get shot.
This got so long, I'm sorry about that but I needed to get this out anyway. I'm grateful for this post because it puts the info together eloquently.
Don’t ever apologise. But yes. That would also tie into it from Lenore and Annabel’s fathers basically teaming up to kill them because same sex marriage is illegal (at the time) and Lenore was supposedly dead after she set the house on fire. And Annabel’s father probably felt so betrayed by his daughter for wanting to marry Lenore despite her “lying” to her and being a woman. Lenore won Annabel’s heart fair and square. We also see that Annabel runs around the academy with both their engagement rings on her hands, hers on her right hand and Lenore’s on her left, which shows that the engagement was a success until the wedding day.
And you adding that it happened when Lenore was panicked or afraid when they first arrived made the connection that Lenore was afraid and panicked when Annabel was shot. Which happened likely during the veil walk, as Annabel was walking to the altar, she was shot straight to through the heart, likely by her father. Lenore sees this, is panicked and afraid, trying to save Annabel, runs for her, and her own father (which I’m highly confident of) shot her through the head. Choosing the head instead of the heart is again likely because of her going slightly insane and having mental health problems due to Theo’s death, her father wanted to be rid of her and saw her illness as weakness and disappointment.

GUYS GUYS WAIT I HAVE AN IDEA ??
So we know Lenore went kinda coocoo from Theo’s death from the tree, she was in a wheelchair, panic attacks all that stuff. Then Ms Gaslight Gatekeeper Girlboss shows up, they fall in love, Annabel leaves.
HERES THE GOOD STUFF
We know Lenore cut her hair and everything to become a man so she could stay with Annabel and marry her. SHE SET HER HOUSE ON FIRE WITH THE ETHER THE NURSES AND MAIDS WERE USING TO “CALM HER DOWN” OR BASICALLY KNOCK HER OUT OR DRUG HER.
I did my research for the lovely guy Edgar Allen Poe and his poem for Lenore, and figured out that Lenore, in the poem, had died from tuberculosis. What’s tuberculosis? A disease that affects your lungs, and that can only be transmitted through the air. I did more research and found the possible causes of tuberculosis, one is FIRE. The smoke can infect your lungs and you can develop tuberculosis. what did Lenore do? Set her house on FIRE.
But that’s not it.
What if Lenore’s specter is not base on her actual death, which could have possibly been from illness or being shot through the head on their wedding day (go ahead and ask me about that theory), but it is supposed to relate or be based around her metaphorical death. THE DEATH OF LENORE BEFORE MEETING ANNABEL AND THE REBIRTH OF HER AS LEO AND/OR LENORE THAT HAD A CAUSE AND WILL TO LIVE BECAUSE OF ANNABEL.
I see the shadow from the top left on Lenore’s face as the shadow of her past, the Lenore from before. Whom was dark and lonely and sad, all that. And the bottom right light as the light a new brightness of her new life. Her freedom.
AND
I think her specter will be related to the fire half. With a little more research, I found a Celtic/Gaelic goddess of fire by the name of Brighid, Hephaestus who’s also a god of fire, a dragon related specter due to the fire relation. But if we take the shot through the head-mental illness route, the Fay/fae of the British Isles or otherwise changlelings, whom are associated with mental disorders/illnesses, and due to Lenore taking up a new identity.

Imagine the school like. teasing annabel about her crush (because let's be honest here she is being way more obvious than Lenore) and she's vehemently trying to pretend she's not in love with lenore (while looking like a tomato mind you) and one half of the school is trying to wingman her and the other half is trying to argue that too much has happened annabel went too far and the entire school ends up having a massive shipping war and the deans are unable to stop it so even they join in and it's like that one episode of amphibia where the town splits over a love triangle and sre like breaking windows and attacking people in their territory and the misfits are in their silly little observatory hiding out and keeping everyone away from Lenore who is just on the floor of the observatory like
Guys 1 week left till we get to see Lenore being angry at Annabel and Annabel being too distracted by how hot her wife is to notice that she’s getting divorced
The way I can clearly picture this in my head is hilarious
