The other night husband and I were watching a documentary about the yeti where they were doing DNA analysis of samples of supposed yeti fur, and every one of them came back as bears.
Anyway, the next night we watched a thing about some pig man who is supposed to live in Vermont. People said it had claws and a pig nose but walked upright like a man. Now, I happen to know that sideshows used to shave bears and present them as pig men. So every piece of evidence they gave of this monster sounds to me like a bear with mange.
So now the running joke in our house is that everything is bears. Aliens? Bears. Loch Ness monster? Bear. Every cryptozoological mystery is just a very crafty bear.
Bears. Theyāre everywhere. Be wary. Anyone or anything could be a bear.
oh shit
As the OP of this post, Iām going to threaten that if this gets to one million notes by the 10 year anniversary on 1 June 2026, one year from today, I will get a lower back tattoo of the loch ness bear monster.
Y'all know what to do Tumblr.

I hate I when I get an idea for a novel. Like oh no here starts the slow sad slip nā slide to dissapointment again.
You ever been 30,000 words and hundreds of research hours into a project when you realize hey wait a minute. I donāt like this. This is bad.
Ok adding to this though that even though it is extremely relatable, this is a KNOWN thing with professional writing. 10k is often referred to as "having a pot boiling" or "having a stew" - it's the point where you often see an idea coming together and it's exciting! But THEN... 30k-50k is the point where that fun has to start coming together. In theatre, it's usually week 3 of a 5 week rehearsal period where you have to stop talking about the play and really get it all up on its feet and cohesive. In art, it's committing to what are going to be the final visible layers of colour and texture, in sculpture the moment where you're truly at the point of no return with carving out the shape.
It usually feels really bad. Because this is the point it becomes real craft. It's so, so difficult to really be able to identify if it's truly not going to be anything or you're just in the hardest part of the process, and really the only way to know is to... write through it. Write it badly. Or, if you really can't, put it in a drawer and come back to it after a few months of breathing space. Remember, you can fix so much in the edit, but you can't fix nothing!
(I say, fully looking at my latest draft of my book and considering throwing it in the bin. But my editor said exactly this to me, so I'm passing it along.)
this is 100% true. I've written 6 complete novels at this point and every single time around the 40k mark I feel lost in the woods. Nothing seems to be working. I feel awful; I can't sleep. I keep going even though I'm convinced I'm going to fail. And then... It's like leaving a tunnel and getting back out in the sunshine. Stuff starts coalescing. Things that weren't working have obvious fixes. I "can write" again, except I was writing the whole time. It just felt hopeless in the moment. It's not. You just gotta get out of the woods.
Ah yes the Slough of Desponds. Professional author with 13 books, and this is normal for me as well. (Checking for tension issues usually helps!)
kitten Iāll be honest the finality of everything in this world haunts daddy like a second shadow
neil really fits this trend huh
I've never seen a more deserved cat slap
I love Mexico because a mexican content creator saw Emilia PƩrez, the truly atrocious way it handled mexican culture and the terrible issues of drug cartels killing and kidnapping people, and all the recognition it's getting, and she went "actually we SHOULD do something about this"
So now she's written, produced, choreographed, starred in, and directed a 30 min independent film that's basically what Emilia PƩrez looks like from a mexican perspective. It's full of French stereotypes including mimes and (fake) rats everywhere, the ghost of Marie Antoinette, and Ladybug and Chat Noir.
It's an enemies to lovers rom-com, a musical, both leads are trans actors, it has three original songs, and some very VERY bad French. It follows baguette heiress Johanne Sacreblu, whose family has been challenged to a duel by a prominent croissant-making family in order to prove which type of bread best represents France. So, Johanne must battle the croissant family's son, Agtugo, in a French-ness duel to prove that baguettes truly represent French culture better than croissants.
The entire film was made from start to finish in, I believe, under a week. It's on YouTube for anyone to watch, and there is talk of it potentially being shown in some movie theaters.
Moral of the story, don't mess with Mexicans, because they will hit back and they will be funnier and better organised than you XD
If anybody was curious here it is

Something to keep in mind as the next four years... happen.
There's gonna be a lot of propoganda. Hell there already is.
The thing to remember is that the point of propoganda is not to make you like something. I mean, if it does that too, then it's working double time, but that's ultimately not the primary objective.
The point is to make it look like whatever The Thing is, it will be the only thing that will continue on into the future
The point is compliance, and inspiring a lack of imagination.
The point is seeming so pervasive that nothing else can possibly exist.
This is why book bannings and censorship are really popular -- they prevent people from imagining alternatives to the current status quo. It is also why art starts being labeled "degenerate."
If every single building has a certain flag flying above it, then it creates the illusion that "buildings just have that flag. it's how it is." If every news story that talks about immigration is talking about an immigrant who is an alleged criminal, it creates the illusion that "immigrants are all criminals, that's just the way this country works." If every single movie shows a good guy military, then it creates the illusion that "the military is always the good guy, if they do bad things then it was still justified." You get the idea.
To this end, now is a FANTASTIC time to be sharing stories, both real and fictional, that show alternatives to a fashy status quo. Remind people that a better reality can exist outside of the hellscape we're entering, and not to comply in advance.
