Iām considering coming out to my family as non-binary, and so today I brought up the subject of non-binary gendering/transgendering with my Dad as a casual conversational topic. Heās told me that if somebody is born a boy then they āshould stay a fucking boyā and not trans to a girl or be a boy some days/girl other days/genderless other days.
I told him that I think gender identity should be something one can choose for themselves, and he says that nobody thinks like that and anybody who is trans/non-binary will just be shunned by every member of society they meet. He doesnāt think that people support n-b/t communities, because he doesnāt. He says to me that not staying oneās natural gender is wrong and against the point of being born a boy/girl.
Every person who reblogs this will have their URL written in a full-size writing book and when it is full I will show it to my father to illustrate to him the amount of people who believe that being non-binary is a valid gender identity.

tbh thatās actually the mindset that helped me a lot. i watched this video on optimistic nihilism by kurzesagt one day mid breakdown and it kind of changed my perspective a lot. before i knew it, i was a hell of a lot louder and more genuine. iām still an anxiety riddled mess, but itās more of an aftershock now, less shaking and stumbling over words to turn bright red mid conversation.

1-7/100 days of productivity
alright, i went inactive for a long time, but i want to get back into the swing of things. iām counting this past week of school as days of productivity, so this is now my seventh day of this. spent time with athena bear, redid notes for math, took new notes for drivers ed, and journaled today!

right, so iām shit at keeping up. iāve been productive i swear, just in a not so hot place mentally right now. iāve got no energy, so iām productive as much as i can but posting every day isnāt exactly in my wheel house. iām open to dm and talk and stuff too though.

I just realized how fucking disgusting it is that itās considered healthy and normal for teenage boys to eat everything ever yet teenage girls are obviously also growing but are fucking dieting all the time and shamed for eating while theyāre growing

- often when a teenager (male or female) puts on some fat itās in preparation for a growth spurt. Grownups know this.Ā
- teenagers grow in weird gawky ways, like a girlās hips will spread out and lookĀ āfatā until her legs get longer, or theyāll shoot up super tall and then slowly put on muscle and fat. Grownups know this.Ā
- itās very common for a womenās body weight to fluctuate plus or minus 5% with her menstrual cycle
but in the diet mentality all of these things are considered personal moral failures,Ā a failure of control, when controlling it is literally impossible.Ā I am so incredibly saddened by women who weigh themselves multiple times a week and fuss over ten freaking pounds when thatās well within the bounds of menstrual fluctuation + just-ate-lunch. Itās horrible.

Grown ups really do not know this. I tell this to parents at least once a week, your child is sleeping/moody/putting on weight because their body is preparing to more or less jump the Grand Canyon of maturation stages. Hormone changes start a full YEAR before first menses.
My own mother, who works in the medical field and has worked solely for OB/GYN for the last 16 years, gave me grief about all of those things. And she knew about hormone level changes and weight distribution changes and she STILL did it. Donāt think hard facts will outweigh societal norms. Keep talking about it until they canāt ignore the facts

ā¢ iām (attempting to) pick up new hobbies
and those are only a few things i could think of at the moment but iām feeling ready for this transformation. and itās ABOUT TIME too. finally. iām going to be able to offer myself what i shouldāve a long time ago: happiness. iām done being against myself, hurting myself, degrading myself, etc. plus when i move iām going to make such a cute study space ahajdksjs im so excited
