hi! this might be a really weird question but i was wondering if you know what happened to hannah aka haikyukulele/hazelfern. i’m relatively new-ish to the free! fandom and have read their fics a million times. i noticed that they offhandedly mentioned being sick in their fic notes then shortly after they stopped being active. they didn’t really say anything either, like no “not posting anymore guys, bye!” sort of announcement and i genuinely started to worry. fan artists aren’t obligated to stay on social media ofc and no one has to explain why, but i just hope they’re doing well and i apologize in advance for asking you about another person in your ask box. the free! fandom is more lowkey these days so i wasn’t quite sure who else to ask. this isn’t a “where are the fic updates?!!!?” message, i swear. just concerned.

I’m so sorry, but unfortunately we aren’t really in contact anymore. We broke up in 2017, and haven’t been in touch since.

I know they got married and moved across the country sometime around 2020, so if I had to guess they probably drifted away from the fandom/fanfic community when they did that big life change.

I wish I had a better answer for you!

I hope you enjoy the Free! fandom though - I remember having a good time when I was into it :)

So on Instagram there’s this amazing stop motion project called “Ruff Ruff Danger Dogs” and it’s by this group called Apartment D

This is literally kid me’s dream. Like if this was around when I was in like middle school I would have fixated so hard my brain would have exploded

It’s a really neat idea and I hope it goes ahead

I think they’re currently trying to get it funded in kickstarter and based on the group’s other works it’ll be AMAZING

It took two whole days but it's done. The concept is simple: AI generated art, sent to a company who does paint by number kits, and then completed by an amateur. It's an interesting thought experiment - at what point is it truly art? Is it ever art, because it's AI generated? Is it ever art, because it's paint by numbers? Is it always art, because it elicits a response from the viewer?

genuinely one of the worst things that’s happened to television in the last few years (exacerbated by streaming services) is death of Filler. going from 20 episodes to 8 because “we didn’t really need that episode where the main characters went to the beach right? it had no long lasting effect” but we DID!!! we needed to see how they act without the Big Bad Plot and to establish the dynamics between the characters and lay in the sun (do they forget sunscreen? how do they react to a thieving seagull? do they get buried in the sand or do they do the burying?). the plot isn’t everything. the action doesn’t hit as hard without the quiet moments. give us character development and our little scenes back
