You know what?
Iâm no longer holding Star Trek or Star Wars âaccountableâ for their clunky-looking sixties-and-seventies future technology.
Why?
Because the Enterprise is off on a years-long voyage through space. Thereâs no Verizon store, no Radio Shack, no Geek Squad out there. If the Klingons fire photon torpedoes and the bridge shakes and Spockâs head bangs against the fancy iPad72 touchscreen and cracks the glass, the shipâs toast. If Han Soloâs fingerprints get all over the starchart and the touch-calibration is off by half a centimeter, the Falcon is going right into a star. But if Mister Worf accidentally twists the command knob too hard and pops it off, he can just screw that thing right back on and it will keep working. Dust gets in there? Take it apart and clean it out. All the plugs are big and universal, all the power cells are functional and have a decent battery life, and nothing is built to expire in the next six months so you have to buy a new one.
That tech isnât anachronistic or suffering a bad case of Zeerustâitâs practical, effective, and it works. Apple tried launching its own space exploration craft, it had to come back for full repairs within three months, and then it had to be upgraded over the next two.
But this? This is just good, long-lasting, fully-functional, and reliable craftsmanship.
The actual real-life space shuttlesâ electronics looked pretty much like that for their entire lifespan and this is exactly why.
suddenly these moments make so much sense

Taika Waititi nails it. Every single time.

And this one:
Quick DDADDS thought:
So based on the strong emphasis on death we see in Damienâs route, Iâm guessing that his partner maybe didnât leave him before Lucienâs birth, (as many other fans believe,) but rather, maybe said partner died.
It makes sense that this did happen before Lucien was born since he never mentions another parent, though. I just think that anyone who could win Damianâs affections would likely not be cold-hearted &/or close-minded enough to dump Damien due to his transition based on how sensitive & loving a person Damien is.
Also, given that Damien mentions having experienced loss multiple times in his life, the widower theory seems to make sense. The only major problem I see with this is why said partner doesnât have an oil painting in Damienâs house while Damien, Lucien, and an unnamed greyhound-mix do, (unless these paintings were made recently, which is plausible based on how up-to-date Lucienâs painting is when compared to his current look/age.)
Side-note about these oil paintings: who is the greyhound-mix? We know that Lucien is deathly allergic to dogs, so it likely isnât a pet that lived in Damienâs house, at least not during Lucienâs lifetime. A childhood pet of Damienâs, perhaps? Who knows.
In any case, I think that itâs odd that most DDADDS fans seem to think Damienâs partner, (if there ever was one,) dumped Damien due to his transition rather than said partner dying based on the constant reminders of death we see in Damienâs route. Hell, Damien couldâve had Lucien as the result of a sperm donation pre-transition & never had a partner at all, we really donât know.
All we really know is that Damien raised Lucien alone, likely for the entirety of Lucienâs life, (or at least as long as Lucien can remember.) Still, if there was a partner/other parent before Lucien was born, I think this person most likely died rather than left. Just a thought, what do you guys think?
