DOWNFALL DUO!!<3
My Cr4 character opinions in no particular order
1. Tyranny: An icon, very trope based but popular tropes are popular for a reason, would love to hear her narrate a history book. 10/10
2. Bolaire: Unused potential, very Talisan, the definition of an unreliable narrator. Would rather be a serial killer than trust people. Gay for Hal. I can see him being my favorite character but we aren't there yet for sure. 6/10
3. Kattigan: A whole vibe. Not much to say besides wolf cute. 7.5/10
4. Occtis: Another has blorbo potential character. A little too safe a play for me at the moment. Love reborns. Interesting, would love to see a harder lean into the undead aspects and why he/thaisha are close. My favorite portrayal of him is still definitely episode one. 6/10
5. Thaisha: I think she's played well, but I think she's also (in my personal opinion) a bit boring. A character I'd probably eat up in an animated show but as a live show there's so many I enjoyed more. Surprisingly good sleeper comedy that reminds me this is the player that dm'd misfits and magic. Would love if she gave me a hug but would hold a grudge if she was my mother. 6.5/10
6. Thimble: I just.. Don't like her. I don't have an emotional connection to the character, I don't know enough about her relationships with people, and I've never been a big fan of the midsummer night's dream type portrayal of hill folk. See why people like her though. 3.5/10
7. Hal: Very well executed character, most interesting in the context of how he relates to other charecter's. Top tier parent. Really don't care about the romantic relationship stuff with Thaisha, to me the least interesting story thread of both their characters. High key theatre kid in a low key way. 5/10.
8. Wick: At present my favorite. Him and Tyranny are my favorite duo. In a different genre than everyone else. Pulls off "ensemble cast chosen one" shockingly well. Bisexual disaster but can you blame him. Hard ship with Tyranny. Somehow very heartfelt and comedic at the same time. Definition of not quite there but has the spirit. Infectiously earnest. Hard to believe he's played by scanlan. 9/10
9. Julien: Like Thimble I get why people like him, I just don't. Maybe I'm just too ace. Still, Matt's enjoyment of Julien is enjoyable and the character development is well executed if slow paced. Maybe I'll like him later on in the series. Also, never enjoyed f*ckboys. Even in fiction it hits a personal point of discomfort. Too close to the real thing to not make me uncomfortable. (Why I could never enjoy Scanlan) 3/10
10. Murray: Weird spot of I don't click with Marisha's humor but I love the character. Complicated feelings about how her story commentates on the cultural discrimination and devaluing of the south. Not sure what age she's supposed to be. I'll be enjoying her character immensely and then rainbow skunk spray happens. Idk/10
11. I feel like I'm missing someone, but Azune: He's good, enjoyable. Think I would have liked him better if his story and development was more paced out. Watching people fake cry always feels weird. Deserves all the hugs. Go bag that king buddy. 7/10
12. OH RIGHT THE LION MAN/TEOR: He's cool. That's the extent of my feelings on him. Good onliners. 5/10
I forgot Valeus I see
8.5/10
Her, Tyranny, and Wiccander are my favorites. I love her storyline and how she's both very cool and very uncool at the same time. Love love her relationship with Pin

Tumbler has decided sprimkle is mature content. Heavens help us
Five random baking tips:
1. Mix sugar into your bread wash for extra carmelization
2. Use tempered egg or custard when making french toast to avoid the egg bits
3. Brown butter flavored whip cream is possible, just brown powdered milk on the stove top and mix it into your cream. No need to worry about emulsion
4. Lemon plus dairy desserts go bad quickly. Always make the day off
5. The crackle top on brownies comes from sugar content and how well it's dissolved. For an extra crackly top use concentrated simple syrup or let your granular sugar soak before turning on that mixer
Have fun.
Me: Yay, I've almost escaped ingrown nail purgatory
*A quarter of my nail falls off on the ingrown side*
Welp. Can't wait for that to be a problem in two weeks
If anyone wants to share tips that'd be great
“Haha remember when murder-hornets were gonna be a thing? What a nothingburger.”
Yes, because the Washington state government activated like a sleeper-cell and ruthlessly, systematically hunted them down and annihilated them.
“Y2K came to nothing amirite?”
Yes because an army of software engineers working around the clock, losing sleep, and busting ass till the last minute prevented it from happening.
“Remember the hole in the ozone layer?”
You mean the one that was fixed through rigorous world wide government action?
One of the root problems of our society is a refusal or inability by media to articulate that all those “it’s gonna be an apocalypse” disasters were not disasters because we collectively did something about them.
The good news is this is actually quite correctable. I maintain my firm belief that we as humans are capable of solving almost all of our problems, when we decide to do so.
And I still think that’s going to happen. I don’t know when or how, but I do know that abandoning hope won’t help bring it about.
And I refuse to let the cynics own a chunk of my heart.
Happy Smallpox Eradication Day
i havent actually seen anyone make real food for their miis it's all been prescription drugs and cigarettes and bees or a combination of those
I spent 3.5 hours on a chocolate truffle?
money is such an underrated accessibility option.
like people want to think any disabled person who is after money is morally suspect some way, because they're not asking for "treatments" or "accommodations" like a lot of our issues can be fixed way more easily with money. can't drive? paying for a taxi is often one of the more accessible alternatives. can't cook? you can pay more to have prepared food delivered to you. food restrictions? that food straight up costs more money. can't clean? you can pay for someone to do that. house inaccessible? having (lots) of money can help with that, you get the gist.
having money won't make us abled. it also won't stop our symptoms from being distressing, painful, or debilitating. but there's a huge gap in experience between the average poor disabled person and someone who's actually wealthy. you can buy your way out of some of the difficult situations most disabled people are left to rot in. wanting money, needing money, asking for money is pretty natural when it's such a useful tool. why get so weird about disabled people wanting money like i'm pretty sure everyone wants money anyway
I think that the answer to the question “why don’t children like doing homework” is “because homework sucks” rather than “because this current generation of children are unthinking soulless husks with minds rotted by technology incapable of comprehending beauty”
Yeah.
I think the world would benefit deeply from less blind hatred of children
They need to make single people cans.
I made a pot of pasta with three types of canned veggies and tragically had to throw half of it out because I didn't have the freezer space or the stomach capacity to finish it before it went bad.
If I had like.. Quarter cup cans or something, I could have avoided so much food waste. :(((
Idk.
Also I think tiny cans would be silly
I am going to lose my mind if one more fake Palestine fundraiser appears in my messages. The scams have actually gotten kinda out of control
I have received hundreds of scam Palestine fundraiser messages over the last two-three months
Copy and pastes of the same texts, the same pleas, the same profile pics, shuffled in a randomizer wheel.
Heck, I can't even find news on palestine because mostly(though not entirely fake) fundraiser posts have clogged my feed up so heavily. Sometimes I'll check for new posts and there won't be even 1 in 50 posts about actual news or updates.
There's even fake vetting lists and fake vetting profiles.
Tumbler should fix it, but I'm not placing any pennies on it happening.
If someone has recommendations for current events blogs and genuine vetting I can follow, they will go much appreciated
I will keep this very very light in spoilers.
Zootopia 2 heard the zootopia criticism and went, welp, time to talk indepth about systemic racism and teach people how to protect themselves from the police when the police force is obstructing justice
(minor spoilers under cut)
I am the type of person who will happily spend 50+ dollars on a good vegetable peeler. I put months of research into almost everything I buy(excluding emergency/groceries).
And let me tell you, the decline of brand loyalty is earned.
My obsession with peanut butter cups has only been stopped by the simple lack of good peanut butter cups. Reeses cups have become sickly sweet and chalky, unreal cups have lost their beautiful snap and dripping filling, Justin's quality control has fallen to the wayside..
Lunchables were my school meal of choice, and then they had to change the recipe to the point of inedibility. My favorite boba tea place? Prices up more than 40 percent, the pastries so doughy and gross I can't even swallow them. Lays: burnt and chewy?? Canada dry changed their ginger intensity and got sweeter. Even calypso lemonade has lost it's smooth mouth feel and bright flavor, tasting closer to country time than a melted snow cone.
About 2 years back? I bought a pair of gloves for a family member of neiman marcus. So of course, they arrived uncushioned, rattling around in the box without even a proper baggie and I kid you not, SCOTCHTAPED TOGETHER.
My favorite clothing brands have forsaken me. Tums have forsaken me. My safe foods have forsaken me. Even douglas has forsaken me in my never ending quest to drown in stuffed animals. KITCHENAID FORSOOK ME.
I don't really have a point to this. I'm just mad.
It feels like I'm being mocked every time I see a news article talking about consumer spending habits.
Idk.

Coffee specifically "likes" to be grown on mountains near the equator. I don't think most fantasy stories incorporate equators at all, much less crops that grow specifically on humid mountains with temperate temperatures.
It's really difficult to automate the process of picking the coffee cherries, so most coffee harvesting is done by hand. Since this is, again, happening on a steep mountain slope, this is pretty arduous labor.
One website I read said that harvesting coffee is 10x harder than harvesting grapes for wine, and I 100% believe them.
Once those cherries are picked, they still need to dry in the sun and subsequently turned into coffee, a process that has multiple steps and also requires a lot of labor.
If not everyone can drink wine or eat refined white flour in your setting - if not everyone can wear finespun fabrics with indigo dyes - then not everyone should be drinking coffee.
The amount of backbreaking labor still that goes into coffee to this day means that we shouldn't be flippant with the way we treat it. People in the Global North are just allowed to act like it's cheap bc we exploit the Global South. If everyone involved with the production of coffee was paid fairly and allowed to work in ways that didn't break their bodies, coffee would be a luxury product. 100%.
And you can get around that in your setting with magic or whatever - Between Two Fires is set in the plague. There's not enough people left to make wine. Demons use necromancy to perform a wine harvest + make wine that has bits of corpses falling off and getting mixed in. You could do something similar with coffee.
But yeah, thinking about this kind of stuff is good for your setting in general.
Yeah. The thing about fantasy is most of this stuff is so easily fixable. You can have wind or plant or telekinetic mages or bird assistants drastically reduce the labor. You can create a fictional humid geothermal oasis where the coffee grows. You can make up a fictional equivalent to coffee that everyone knows is basically coffee. You can introduce subsidiaries or have common folk enjoy lower grades.
Which says all the more about the fact that people don't. There's so little interest and respect for history/craft, so prevalent the exploitation, that authors genuinely don't think about it or can't be bothered.
Everything the worldbuilder adds is the worldbuilder's choice to add.
