Deadpool is surprised when Spider-Man defends him after he gets killed
He’s used to people using him as a human shield, or just leaving the altercation once it’s over, not waiting for him to come to
He’s surprised when he wakes after he dies for the first time while fighting with Spidey and the man is still there, sitting next to him
He leaves once Deadpool is up and talking again, but the gesture sticks with Wade
One time, Deadpool comes to while the fight is still happening. He wakes to see Spider-Man the angriest he’s ever been
He’s holding a guy up by the front of his shirt, eyes narrowed to slits. The guy is barely conscious, blood streaming from his nose and mouth, eyes black and bruised
“You killed him. Do you know what that means? You just murdered a man.”
Spidey’s voice is low and dangerous, a tone Deadpool has never heard from him before
“He’ll be fine, he’s Deadpool, Deadpool doesn’t, like, die, right?” The half-conscious man splutters, trying to pull away
“You— what? You think just because he comes back he doesn’t die?” Spider-Man’s voice raises until he’s shouting in this man’s face, “Did you see what you did to him? He felt that. He isn’t immune to pain you dickwad, he’s going to live and feel everything you put him through. You fucking killed him and he has to feel that.”
Spider-Man throws the man to the ground, “turn yourself in. And if you don’t, I swear to god, I will find you and put you through hell.”
“Piece of shit.” Spidey mutters under his breath, turning back to Deadpool
His eyes widen comically large when he sees Deadpool awake and realises that he saw the outburst
“You care…” Deadpool whispers, smiling
“You care… that’s the nicest thing anyone’s ever done for me,”
“If I don’t, will you talk to me like that?”
