It’s so sad that students are now relying so heavily on AI for writing essays because they’re missing out on the best part of writing an essay which is when you’re a few paragraphs in and you just reach that flow state where your thought process becomes one with the essay and you’re slamming the keys so hard that you’re on the verge of destroying your laptop. I used to get high off of that shit

Steve needed a job after the mall burned down and he got rejected from the family video by Keith. He bought a couple of joints from Eddie at a stupid party and they struck up a deal and an unlikely friendship.
Steve starts coming over to the trailer to pick up and falls head over heels for you, Eddie’s little sister. The dark curly hair, the sweet disposition without lacking attitude, god the little pyjama shorts you answer the door wearing.
And Steve is not subtle about it, when you answer the door he’ll smirk and lean on his arm against the door frame, bicep tensing, and he’ll throw in some teasing words. Call you gorgeous, pretty, sunshine, and you just look up at him with a raised eyebrow, skeptical squint, and amused smirk. “Hi, Steve.”
Sometimes he’ll start to lean down close to you and you just spin around and disappear faster than he can blink, sending a gust of the addicting smell of you into his face. Shouting out, “Eddie! Steve’s here!” as you disappear from the door.
Steve lets out a heavy sigh and lets himself in closing the door behind him. “You strike out again, Harrington?” Eddie asks teasingly as he appears from the hall. “Shut up.” Steve murmurs. Eddie just laughs and claps Steve on the shoulder, “You wanna smoke a joint man?” Steve shrugs, “Sure, why not.” “Y/N! We’re smoking, come on!”
Eddie and Steve went out on the front porch of the trailer and Eddie sat in the single chair leaving Steve to sit on the small bench, the one barely big enough for two people.
Eddie did this on purpose, you see, the only person who wanted you and Steve to get together more than Steve was Eddie.
Eddie loved you to death but you’d always been a lover girl, you had a sensitive heart, and a soul full of empathy.
And over the past few months of getting to know Steve, Eddie has seen that Steve is a lover boy at heart. Going on as many dates as he could and then venting to Eddie about how incompatible they all are. Steve was dating for love, not lust.
And after Steve met you for the first time, Eddie could see the chemistry between the two of you. He saw the way you let yourself be free around Steve, to be you.
You were usually so shy around new people, closed off but Steve was making you laugh. Making you smile more than Eddie thought he had seen you smile all week, he immediately made you feel comfortable.
You had, had some bad boyfriends in the past. Guys who would take advantage of your shy, quiet, kindness. Guys who would make you cry and cheat on you before even bothering to break up with you.
These guys learned their lesson though, Eddie made sure of that. But Eddie knew Steve was a good guy, and he was very, very clearly head over heels for you. Eddie could also tell that you liked Steve, so he wasn’t sure why you were so resistant to his advances.
You had put on your slippers before going out on the porch to smoke with Eddie and Steve. You stepped out and saw Eddie sitting in the one lawn chair and Steve sitting on the bench, the very small bench.
You pursed your lips but nonetheless rounded the small table giving Eddie a small smack upside the head on your way, you knew he was behind this. “Ow!” he exclaimed, “I give you free weed and this is how you repay me, abuse! Shame, I’m hurt, sister.” Eddie said dramatically. “Shut up, drama queen.” You said with no bite in your words, a smile gracing your face.
You sat on the bench next to Steve, thighs already barely brushing. You could feel the heat radiating from his body where your thighs and shoulders were close. You heard Steve inhale a little sharper when you settled in next to him and chose to ignore it.
Eddie lit the first joint and started the rotation.
You did like Steve, I mean what was not to like. He was handsome, he had great hair, pretty eyes, he was kind, he made you feel like you could be yourself around him, your brother loved him, he obviously liked you. But there was that nagging voice in your head, after two failed relationships and coming from a broken home it was hard. It was hard to believe in love that wasn’t platonic.
It was even harder to believe that Steve Harrington, former ‘King’ Steve, captain of the Hawkins high basketball team liked you. But he did.
But you both went to the same school, he seemed different now, but you were there when Tommy H. was his best friend. When they would call your brother a freak either to his face or behind his back. In sophomore year you saw what him and his former friends spray painted on the movie theatre, ‘Nancy ‘the slut’ Wheeler’. You had seen the cruelties he was capable of and didn’t think you could handle being on the other end of them when he decided he didn’t like you anymore.
What you didn’t see was Steve breaking up with Tommy and Carol and then going back to the movie theatre to clean off the spray paint. You didn’t see the way Steve looked at you with stars in his eyes every-time you spoke. All you saw was your doubt, and your fear of being burned again.
Honestly you weren’t sure your fragile heart could take much of any real hurt anymore and Steve Harrington would cut deep on the decline. Because you did really like Steve, he was funny and sweet and he always complimented you every time he saw you, he said it like he meant it.
With two joints down between you, you were now pleasantly buzzed. Tension releasing from your body, unrelenting anxiety leaving you. As your body loosened and you became more comfortable, more of you pressed against Steve, your thigh pressed fully to his, shoulders brushing.
“Damn, dry mouths a bitch, I’m gonna get a drink. Do you guys want anything?” Eddie piped up standing from his chair. You told him what you wanted from the fridge and Steve did the same. Eddie disappeared into the trailer and a comfortable silence fell.
The sun was almost set and the chill in the air started biting. You shivered a tiny bit and leaned into Steve. Not even thinking about it as you wrapped your arm around Steve’s, hugging it to you for warmth. Your hand that wasn’t wrapped around his arm came to hold his hand.
“You, getting cold, sunshine?” You let out a burr, and nodded. “Do you wanna go inside?” “Not yet, I like sitting out here, and the sun set is pretty.” Steve nodded in agreement.
It was silent for a few moments before Steve spoke. “Why don’t you wanna go out with me?” He didn’t sound accusing, just curious, maybe a little sad. You couldn’t help the furrow of your brows and the down turn of your lips. “You’ve never asked.” You said quietly, it was a weak excuse, you knew what he really meant.
He sighed through his nose and your frown deepened. “You know what I mean.”
It was silent again. “I’m scared.” “Of me?” “Not really… I’m scared of getting hurt, by you.” Steve looked at you with a deep frown and hurt in his eyes, you refused to meet his gaze keeping your eyes on the skyline.
“I would never hurt you.” “You don’t know that, Steve. Say we did go on a date, say we got in a relationship, say I fall in love with you, then what? You’ll get tired of me, think I'm too much, and then where does that leave me?”
There was a heavy pause and you continued, gentler this time. “When I love someone, I love them with everything I have, and I don’t think I could handle loving you and then losing you Steve.” Your eyes had welled with tears and as you blinked one fell.
Steve turned your face to look at up at him, “That’s not gonna happen, you’re amazing Y/N, you’re honestly, all I can fucking think about. I’m crazy about you, and I want to love you with everything I have. I wish you could see yourself the way I see you, because there is no one, no one, else like you. You’re so funny and unique and loving, and you care so much about your family, and you’re drop dead gorgeous, but honestly that’s one of the least interesting things about you.” Your chin wobbled and a few more tears escaped. “That’s really what you think?”
He wiped the tears that fell, “That’s what I know. I mean come on why do you think I come over here so often? I’m definitely not getting rid of a pound of weed every two days.” You get out a watery giggle at that. “But after not seeing you for two days I feel stir crazy, I’m so, head over heels for you Y/N. I wanna know everything about you, how you think, how you feel, how you want to be loved. I want everything with you.”
You took a deep shaky breath trying to compose yourself. “How do you know you won’t feel differently one day?”
“You can never know for sure, but I’m pretty damn sure about you.” He tucked a few strands of curly hair behind your ear and leaned into you, inviting, not pushing. You accepted and rose to press your lips to his. You released Steve’s arm, palms coming to rest on his chest. Steve’s now free’d hand comes up to cup the back of your neck, deepening the kiss.
You both pulled back for air, foreheads pressed together. “God, you have no idea how badly I’ve wanted to kiss you.” Steve said, quiet and a little breathless. “I think I have some idea.” You brought your lips to his again, getting lost in each other.
Eddie watched from the kitchen window and gave himself a high five. “Mission lover girl, lover boy accomplished.” He smiled to himself and then grimaced, turning away from the sight of the two of you eating each other’s faces.
A/N: idk i feel like this is garbage but i kinda wanna write more when they’re in a relationship. lmk if you’re interested!
