Carcar drabble I wrote on my work laptop in the office instead of doing my actual work this morning after seeing this ask by @testarossa

It's Lando's fault, because of course it is.
He's on stage with Carlos and Alex, doing some sort of Q&A that Oscar had avoided because his merch shoot ran into the start. Also on stage is Oscar's sweatshirt that he left in the garage yesterday that Lando must have stolen, because when Oscar went looking, he couldn't find it. And now that Lando is wearing it on stage, that means that Oscar can't wear it for a few weeks or maybe ever or he'll be inundated by instagram reels about how he and Lando are secretly hooking up or whatever.
It's just like Lando, to not think about how his actions affect Oscar at all. Which is why Oscar texts him, just so he knows that Oscar knows.
Looking good mate
He watches them intently from where he's standing in the wings, waiting for Lando to turn and do some sort of semi-apologetic shrug. Which will probably make him more annoyed, because wearing his clothes is the exact kind of thing that Lando will think Oscar is insane for being mad about.
But instead, it's Carlos who reaches into his pocket for his phone and looks at the screen. Who turns his head to look right at Oscar, his gaze bewildered instead of contrite.
"Oh no," Oscar says. Actually out loud, because that's how dire the situation feels. He scrambles to pull his phone back out, hoping against hope that he has somehow misread the situation and not totally humiliated himself.
Even more Lando's fault: that Oscar has a text thread Carlos at all. Oscar had offhandedly mentioned his mum's upcoming trip to Spain with her new boyfriend and Lando had looked up from texting to insist that he ask Carlos for restaraunt recommendations. When Oscar had said yeah, haha, sure, fully intending to not do that since he and Carlos had exactly zero messages outside of group chats, Lando had rolled his eyes and said:
"I already told him you're texting, so if you don't it’ll be weird."
Oscar didn't want Carlos to get another reminder that Oscar was some sort of antisocial freak and/or recluse. So now, in his phone:
Hi Carlos my mum is going to Madrid and was looking for restararaunt recommendations, Lando said you might have some? I think she's staying near Salamanca.
And Carlos had responded, after Of course Oscar I am sure she will love it, with an actually extrememly useful list that Oscar had dutifully copy and pasted for his mother and texted Carlos back Thanks 🙂. All of this yesterday, all of this at the same time he had been texting Lando asking if he had seen his sweatshirt anywhere, so the conversations were next to each other.
So now, under the contact Carlos Sainz and the stupid Bitmoji that Carlos autopopulates his contact with, it reads
Oscar: Looking good mate
Oscar stares at the message and starts to frantically type Sorry meant for Lando because he's wearing my sweatshirt that he stole haha. Then he deletes that because it still sounds kind of gay. Before he can figure out what to actually say, he gets a message. He looks at the stage in horror, where he can see Carlos tucking his phone back into his pocket, smiling a little. Sort of...Oscar feels insane even thinking it, but pink. He stares back at his phone screen.
Carlos: Yourself as well 😉
It's a joke. It has to be. Oscar heads back to the McLaren garage so he can drown himself in his driver's room shower like a coward.
