Thinking about how Christopher’s death was essentially a punishment for Grace since everyone else got their happy paired-up ending (cause for Matthew not being paired up is the happy ending). Like obviously there is so much more to Kit as a character and how his death affected everyone else, but in light of how happy endings usually look in CCs books it’s worth pointing out that the one character who is hated by large parts of the fandom and has committed an offence that would by many be considered to be irredeemable was robbed of it.

sometimes I think about that tlh group artwork that Cassandra Jean drew in like, 2013. I'm pretty sure it pre-dates the Midnight Heir, and a year later it got redone because CC changed some characters and discarded others. But the original is so fascinating to me because you can easily recognise half the characters but the other half you can't. and you have to wonder if Christopher is sitting in the grass having a chat with Charles Fairchild of all people or if that's a third Carstairs sibling that CC decided to get rid of or someone else we'll never be able to guess. and we will never really know who they are.
