there is obviously nothing wrong with people making sanji out to be a pretty boy, but ngl, every time i see it in art or in fic there is a not insignificant part of me that wants to dig my heels in and insist that no, actually, i don’t think he should be a pretty boy at all! in fact, i kind of think he should be a little bit uggo!
btw the insistence of some ppl in making sanji out to be ONLY a pretty boy and ignoring his more masculine physical traits (most notably, his canonical body hair) is ABSOLUTELY related to the idea of ‘are you feminizing sanji because he makes an easy stand in for the (wo)man’s role in heteronormative brand yaoi’. he can’t fit into that (wo)man’s role if he isn’t a pretty boy, because we all know women HAVE to be pretty and hairless and not gross in any way, shape, or form, right?
also i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again: zoro would be way more into a sanji that looks like a dirtbag line cook than he would a sanji that’s conventionally attractive. zoro doesn’t want a pretty little bishie boi, he wants a guy that makes him look like he has questionable taste in men. because he does.
