For several reasons:

It takes away a heroic figure who is Eastern European, which significantly contributes to the (arguably incorrect) reading that this book is about an East vs West dichotomy.

Slavic characters so rarely get to be good and heroic figures in English-language media beyond very bit parts.

It takes away the significance of him being mourned by people even when he is buried far from his homeland.

when (some orb-weaver?) spiders are hungrier they build/adjust their webs so the strands are more taut, meaning the web is more sensitive, and smaller prey than normal will make it vibrate (every bite counts when you're starving!). but ALSO: if you station a well-fed spider on a web that was built by an extremely hungry spider, that spider will go capture the kinds of tiny bugs that the looser web it would have built itself wouldn't have alerted it to. they outsource the decision-making for which prey to go after to their web! they just adjust the settings til they seem about right for the moment and then go along with whatever the web picks up. "the spider will eat whatever it's aware of, and it sets the bounds of its awareness by spinning different kinds of webs." that's so cool....

Yes! Because it's not a goal to be achieved, but a cycle!

Instead of seeing the house as clean/not clean, it helps a lot to see cleaning as a constant upkeep of your environment. Taking care of your home, and of yourself, is a good thing!

(still unlearning the guilt and anxiety associated with cleaning. it's an uphill battle.)

The concept of junebugging has really helped me when "following a list of defined tasks" is not working for my brain, and I want to highlight this part:

you’re done when you feel done, or you’re too bored to live, or it’s bedtime, or any number of other markers, you get to pick. (emphasis mine)

If you find yourself mid-cleaning and the energy suddenly runs out, you don't have to push yourself through it! If you're like me and your process is kind of chaotic you might need to shuffle things around a bit, so the cleaning chemicals are in a safer place or all the stuff that still needs to be put away is in one pile instead of several, but you can just... leave it like that. Because you did something and something is better than nothing.
