the thing is shane represses SO MUCH of himself so that he can have this one thing he loves, so he can be the best hockey player. he restricts food, fights his sexual desires, shoves himself into his own closet. pleasure dom ilya focusing on a reward system rather than punishments makes so much sense here because (a) it’s incentive for shane to be good because he likes being good, in fact he needs to be the best (b) it forces him to accept things he might not otherwise allow himself to have or even want, which can be soft and sweet and freeing, but can also feel like a punishment if he’s in a certain kind of self-flagellating headspace.
like let’s say the team lost, but shane scored their only goal. it’s not good enough, shane feels like shit, like he should’ve worked harder to make up for the rest of the team playing like shit. but instead ilya rewards him for scoring the only goal, for outperforming the rest of his team. i’m thinking kind of like the trophy room vibe, except shane has trouble accepting that he’s good, that he deserves to feel good. maybe ilya makes him repeat things like “i carried an entire team by myself,” or “my hockey skills have bewitched the only player in the league more talented than me” (no way in hell shane’s saying that, ilya’s just being a little shit). maybe shane doesn’t get to come until ilya feels he’s said it with enough conviction
or a softer scenario where shane’s distracted and grumpy and tense so ilya pins him to the couch and lays on top of him giving him that lovely deep pressure he loves and bites and kisses his neck until shane’s all loose and purring and he slips into subspace, where he stops fighting it and lets ilya make him feel good. i think ilya just loves making shane feel. whether it’s pleasure or pain or whatever he loves that shane not only trusts him, he’s desperate for him, he needs to be good
Yes yes, exactly. I am eating this up with a spoon. I think it works so well for Shane. There’s something about how disciplined he is that makes me want to see him get rewarded (beyond just success in hockey). Like, I love the idea of Ilya rewarding him with orgasms for sticking to his workout routine. And of course Shane would do the workout anyway, but isn’t it nice to know there’s a reward at the end? I also looove Ilya making Shane admit that he's been good and that he deserves to feel good.
And it’s so good for Ilya too. I think he loves giving Shane pleasure and seeing how he makes Shane’s body feel good, especially as a reprieve from all the pain they put their bodies through during the season. And you hinted at this a little too: I think it could help break Ilya out of his I’m not good enough for him; I’ll never be good enough for him thought spiral to see how every touch he gives Shane just brings more and more pleasure.
Basically, Shane loves being good, and he's good at being good, and Ilya loves rewarding him for being good, yay yippee forever.
