very telling that even if youâre not allowed to view content related to self harm/suicide/eating disorders due to not giving up your ID on the uk internet you will still be shown relentless ads for weight loss drugs and fad diets showing unrealistic/AI generated bodies and unhealthy methods and time frames for weight loss that can only be achieved by starvation. oh and also so so many gambling ads. relentless ads for gacha and gambling services. almost like itâs not actually about protecting kids at all or something
unfortunately very true. Doing Better does not always mean never being upset or never being triggered or never having trouble. often Doing Better means experiencing those things and being able to keep going/cope healthily/move on. if youâre in a bubble with no sensation, if youâre numbing yourself out, thatâs not what recovering really is. it wonât help you have a happier life itâll just make your world smaller and smaller until you canât fit anywhere anymore. gotta learn to make peace with the hard stuff too, thatâs the only way to keep going

I just had an argument with someone who was like âwhy would we settle for food stamps when we could have universal basic income?â
And itâs just like. People need food right now you know.
Iâve said it before and Iâll say it again. Hippie church moms donating quinoa chips to my local food bank have done more for me materially than any internet idealist ever has.
People get pissed at me for being a pragmatist in my political ideals but Iâve been in the position where I was out of food right now.
And who helped me with that? Not people calling for some nebulous revolution. Not people telling me that the system was useless. Not people preaching at me to grow my own food. It was a church food bank partially funded by the state of Texas that some southern hippies donated a bunch of Whole Foods nonsense to.
And you know what? Iâm sick and tired of defeatism. What can we get done right now, huh? Are you gonna accept something a bit better to help people right now or are you waiting for your perfect utopia to come to you?
Yeah, UBI is better than the quinoa chips. Sure. But right now the quinoa chips are stopping people from going hungry and if all we can do is get the food bank quinoa chips to more people, then I say so be it. Thatâs something. Iâll almost always take baby steps over nothing.
We can do both. We NEED to do both. You need to feed the hungry NOW and once you've fed them, you need to demand they never have an opportunity to starve again
Just because you did something wrong in the past doesnât mean you canât advocate against it now. It doesnât make you a hypocrite. You just grew. Donât let people use your past to invalidate your current mindset.
Bruh. This needs to be a mandatory post on everybodyâs blog. Y'all really be pullin out decade old receipts like woah.
Either you want people to grow and change or you want people to stay evil villains soyou can feel superior as you shame them.
