Anyone responding to a creator's shipping boundary with a sudden influx of queerplatonic ships that are portrayed suspiciously just like amatonormative romantic relationships, put AO3 down for a second and listen to those of us in QPRs

Our relationship dynamics are not a substitute for romance and they're not inherently devoid of aspects a creator might be uncomfortable with being shown (like physical intimacy and flirting)

We can tell when a ship is written as queerplatonic in this soulless way where someone's trying to get around a creator boundary they don't actually have to follow* or around a character's aroacespec identity. They come across as conformative and allo-coded because queerplatonic as a term is used to mean 'a romantic dynamic where they aren't actually together or where there's no actual attraction'

*a creator boundary cannot and should not dictate what a community member does outside of their field of view, and it shouldn't encourage them to expand their field of view beyond what's reasonable in order to police their community - you are a person, you have free will! You can even block that creator in advance on your fan accounts!

Queerplatonic relationships are queer and so non-normative. They bend and defy the rules of what's typical and expected. They are broad and devoid of expectations unless you want to create them. They're things like touch or affection because you just want to know that person better; to learn how they'd react and to exist with them. They're things like telling each other things nobody else will know because you've committed yourselves to being there without the expectation for anything but the same in return. They're being able to place each building block that forms your dynamic and take it away on your own terms as a collective

They are not your get out of jail free card when it comes to creator boundaries - you already have that card and it's your human freedom!!

If you're going to write queerplatonic dynamics, actually write them that way instead of just labelling an amatonormative dynamic that way for the sake of it

To be clear, this isn't a bit. This is what they actually did. "Its too late" is the new "Climate change isn't real"... And its still a lie!

Every serious climate scientist agrees that there is no such as thing as too late, just as there is no such thing as too early. We should have done a lot more than we have to fight climate change, and the world will suffer for our inaction, but there is no point of no return. We can always work to reduce the amount of suffering that occurs, and eventually turn things around to the point where our planet is healing once again. Do not believe anyone who says it's "too late".
