This is an important announcement!!!
You can be asexual and still have sexually intrusive thoughts.
As someone who struggles with severe OCD, I have had sexually intrusive thoughts, and still sometimes do. Because of this, it took me SO LONG to figure out that I might actually be asexual, and that my thoughts didnāt mean that I automatically wanted to be with someone in a sexual way. They were intrusive thoughts that I had mistaken for normal ones; ones that I thought everyone had.
I have not found a lot of distinction between those who arenāt asexual and have sexually intrusive thoughts and those who are asexual and have the same thoughts. I think this is because very often, being asexual is seen as being sex repulsed. And how can you be sex repulsed if sexually intrusive thoughts keep popping into you head?
Anyways, this is a reminder that you ARE valid and that you cannot control your thoughts. No matter what anyone tells you, you canāt, and that is why those who struggle with intrusive thoughts canāt control when they happen or what comes to mind. Also, itās completely okay not to be sure of your identity. You can decide that you donāt identify as x after all.
Sorry this is so long. Iāve just never seen this brought up before.
