Please look up the details of the case if you can. The officers mobile-ordered milkshakes and then went to go pick them up, so the workers there had no idea who the recipients were, they got stomachaches (allegedly) and a union rep got word, and before anything could be investigated an official NYPD union account tweeted that the officers were intentionally poisoned with bleach. The staff (who again didn’t even see them) were held in custody, investigated, them and the restaurant got harassed by the general public, their reputation was affected, all so that the police could cry wolf about getting persecuted after the increase in scrutiny on them last year.

The new England and Wales Police Bill, just passed in the House of Commons, allows the Police the power to "clamp down on protests for being too noisy, and create 10-year prison sentences just for causing someone ‘serious annoyance’" even if the protest is ONE person.
It's worth noting that the Police authorities have stated that, contrary to what the Government has said, they were not consulted on these powers and don't actually want them. (I treat that with suspicion since it's a power they will have and can use, even if they claim they don't want it, but it's stil an extraordinary thing for them to contradict the Government that much)
There's an unproven (but not completely unreasonable) notion that a motivating force behind at least some of these draconian rules is Steve Bray, the activist who has, for the past several years, been yelling, on a daily basis, in Parliament Square in London, usually "Stop Brexit" and the like, and can frequently be heard in the background of UK radio and TV news broadcasts. He's been embarassing the Tories for years now, and it's hard to NOT see some petty revenge being involved in this.
Not forgetting that of course when shit like this happens, in any country - and UKnia is no exception - the result is to consolidate power even more in the hands of the already powerful - the corrupt, the right-wing, the rich - so that they can shut down any voices and sparks of opposition even harder.

It is important to note that this isn’t because there are less people. In fact, the dems in charge fully admit that they had just as many people in late april as in early march, but the Biden administration took emergency measures to solve the problem and massively expanded the facilities to ensure that there was enough space.
What’s more, they got the average processing time down a huge amount, and didn’t just settle for the mandated maximum. For minors, the average wait time went down from 133 hours to 28 hours, with the federally mandated maximum being 72 hours. Immigration cases are being processed in record time and numbers with a strong focus on humane treatment and ease of immigration. Plenty of moderate democrats are genuinely angry about it, claiming that the Biden administration is letting thousands in with a rubber stamp approval process. “It isn’t how it is supposed to be!” complain moderate democrats over Biden’s far left approach to immigration reform.
Now, these were just temporary emergency measures throw together in roughly three weeks to deal with a massive, record breaking influx of migrants. It could easily be suspected that the administration was just acting good as long as the nation was paying attention, except the Biden administration continued working on immigration reform even when the news cycle moved on, steadily making major changes for immigration reform and continuing to do so even now.
DACA was re-opened to new applicants.
Temporary Protected Status has been reinstated and expanded
DACA-like status for domestic violence victims and other crime victims, allowing victims of crime a green card and a work license during the years long waiting period.
People can wait in the US for court hearings, allowing families to reunite and waiting to happen under humane and safe conditions.
There are a ton of things the Biden administration has massively improved over the last 4 months or so, and I am not going to list them all out. And they are still making changes in a positive direction. Here is an article that lays out some of these things written by an immigration lawyer. It was written two days ago, and there is no sign that the Biden administration is going to stop chipping away at immigration reform within their capacity to do so.
Remember, as long as it is the law Biden has to enforce it, and all law making is on deadlock as republicans refuse to cooperate. He literally cannot change these laws without every single democrat senator signing on and at least 10 republicans jumping the fence. He is not a king. If you want to be angry at someone focus on the one or two democrat senators that refuse to get rid of the filibuster, specifically Joe Manchin.
What Biden can do on his own is restructure and reform the DHS and ICE to be much more humane organizations through rule changes, executive orders, administrative policies, and putting pro immigration reform people in charge of the whole process. And that is exactly what he has done and continues to do.
If immigration reform is an important issue to you, and it should be, consider where we were a year ago and where we are now. Many leftists will have you believing that virtually nothing has changed, that people have moved on due to their bias that democrats are better than republicans. They are wrong.
This is why “both sides are bad” political opinions are so dangerous. In six months we have gotten better immigration reform from Biden than we have in 30 years and he doesn’t even have the power to make laws about it. All that effort we made to get democrats (and better democrats) in is paying off.
Please don’t get discouraged now, we are actually making serious progress for the first time in years! Don’t let your preconceived notions of a “moderate democrat” president cloud your judgement!
If this is what we can achieve with a moderate in charge and a deadlocked senate, imagine what we can do with a real leftist at the top and a couple more senators to break the deadlock. Real change is within our grasp but we have to keep on pushing for it.

By all logical thought processes those of us who don't give a flying hell regarding religion (in other words, us hellbound sinners), are the ones who should be more expected to use "Jesus fucking Christ" as an expletive.
And on top of that, using it this way is just part of growing up in a place that's dominated by Christianity! It's a cultural norm to be irreverent regarding the Christian God's name.
Like guess what, anon: we grew up hearing *y'all* break your own tenets to use this phrase in situations that, at best, merit mild frustration. Acting like using it is cultural appropriation or some shit is insane. It's literally because Christianity is so predominate that the primary methods English-speaking peoples have to curse is referential to the Christian Messiah, and not only that, it's because y'all are so happy to break your own rules that it's so blasted common!

Maybe remind yourself of the forceful conversion of millions, on pain of death. Maybe remind yourself that the ones who have oppressed, slaughtered, enslaved, and generally made trouble for women, blacks, gays, any other religious group they could get their hands on, and all sorts of minority used your God (and cherry picked verses of your sacred text) to justify their actions.
If you even bother to read the texts you call sacred you might even realize that they could do so because, in many cases, the text *endorses such behavior*, if you ignore the basic teachings of your Messiah.

Let me say that again: Her father, who has control of her money, chooses the lawyer who is going to attempt to remove his control of that money. Her father, her lawyer, and her fathers lawyer all have direct financial incentive to continue the conservatorship.
This isn't just an issue with Britney: it's a perverse and corrupt court & legal system.

What a funny way to say “cops blew up neighborhood”
It’s been really hilarious to watch the LAPD try to dodge any responsibility for this while the media tries desperately to help them by publishing the most confusing fucking headlines but what really happened is that the cops found and confiscated thousands of pounds of “illegal” fireworks in LA and then decided to take 10 pounds of that, call the press, and make a show of using their new expensive toy, the “total containment” truck that is supposed to be able to take explosions of up to 15 pounds.
So they took the 10 pounds of explosives and their toy truck to a poor Black neighborhood, got reporters there, stuck the explosives inside, and set them off intentionally instead of just defusing them like they did with the other 4,990 pounds of fireworks.
For some reason, likely because something went wrong with their truck which I bet cost the city a shit ton of money, the containment completely failed and the explosion destroyed cars, homes, and injured 17-19 people (I’ve seen different reports with different numbers), a couple of whom were in critical condition but it sounds like everyone survived.
The LAPD then had the audacity to tweet that they didn’t know what caused the explosion when it was them who caused the explosion, intentionally, and we know because they called the media so that everybody could see them do it.
In summary, the LAPD wanted to show off/justify their ridiculous budget but their expensive toy was a dud and so they ended up bombing a poor Black neighborhood (because they would never risk this in a white neighborhood) and don’t want to admit it.

Reading about the Tess Sharpe situation has only solidified in my mind that minors should be held extra accountable on the fucking internet. It's time to stop that bullshit of "You're harassing a minor!!!!!!" whenever an adult tells a teenager on the internet to STOP.
Teenagers are not free to break boundaries. In fact, teenagers need to LEARN to respect boundaries and if I've learned anything in this gods forsaken website, is that they will break them and then expect everyone to bend over backwards when they get upset that they were caught.

Today is another heavy day in Canada.
CW/TW: residential schools, genocide, religion.
For those of you who may be unaware, Canada has it's own very recent history of genocide. This history has been known but unacknowledged by the government and religious groups responsible for too long. Now the extent of this tragedy is becoming more apparent to the rest of the world as we find the bodies of indigenous children who died while at residential schools in the "care" of government and religious groups.
In the next several months they will find more and more unmarked children's graves using ground penetrating radar at the sites of these schools.
This is not ancient history. The last residential school in the province I live in now, closed in 1996. The families that these children were stolen from are very much still alive, as are the survivors of these schools. There is work being done to identify and bring the children home.
You can help by offering support to the indigenous people in your life; we will continue to see more emotional and triggering news in the coming months.
As the number of graves discovered increases we need to remember that they aren't just numbers, they are children and siblings and cousins.
You can also choose to wear orange on July 1st ("Canada day") in solidarity with the survivors and victims of residential schools. This is not a year we should be celebrating Canada, this is a year for mourning and justice.
