Okaay feel free to skip this disclaimer here if you want. But this miiight be a bit boring because it’s mostly just a literate retelling of the Kieran and Carmine introduction but with Seyra and Louis (plus I didn’t make them talk since my friend is their main writer and I don’t feel confident enough to make a fulllll thing of that. If I did though this would be different rather than copying or editing game dialogue). But I think it gives glimpses at Louis and Seyra’s characters + some plans for the Teal Mask arc in Muted Violet + Im proud of it and you get to see me describe Kieran and Carmine. so…
This was also to practice for if (because the rps been paused for a good bit now) / when it’s my time to introduce these two
The path up to Mossui Town had taken a bit longer than intended.. considering that Louis got exhausted from the combination of getting up early and jet lag, then nearly stumbled into one of the rice fields levees. Fortunately, Seyra managed to catch him before he could end up the mirrored reflection of a sopping wet Poochyena they saw playing in it.
At first, their only problem was the sick classmate that was waiting for them back at the bus stop. But now their second problem was the dull, gray color that began to settle against the sky above them.
A droplet falls from above and taps the end of Seyra’s nose. They’d better hurry unless they wanted Louis’s prior rescue to be for nothing.
The road gives quiet scrapes with each step of the foot, coupled by the soothing rustle of the rice fields against wind. It’s getting steeper up the hill, but Mossui Town drifts from a blur to a reality before their eyes. There looks to be a bench just up ahead. With the soothing, rustic feel of the buildings that surrounded the place, it looked like the perfect place to stop and look for the caretaker.
Or at least, so they thought.
Several feet from where they were, two chatting faces come into view. One stands tall, her finger tapping at the side of her hip while the opposing hand makes vague gestures in the air with every word. The other, however, shrinks into himself. His fingers tangle together like he’s trying to make pretzels, and somewhere between the interaction. The boys gaze, once trained on the deep gray of the concrete, finally drifts up.
He immediately startles like a deerling caught in headlights. “Ah!” His sleeves fly up near his chest, his clean, white uniform catching some of the sunlight that peers through the storm clouds. “Sis,” he clumsily stumbles behind her “look, they’re here!”
Her head snaps to the path. Louis and Seyra come to an abrupt halt, caught in the attention of someone who towers over them. “We already have to deal with two of them?” She brushes some hair from her face.
Ushering him along, the two students bolt right up to them without warning. Behind her, the younger boy keeps hidden in a small, hunched posture.
“Hey, you!” The girl gives them a pointed finger that lands right in the center of Louis’s face, making him flinch backwards. Despite the fact it hadn’t moved, he adjusts the patterned, plastic mask with a hesitant hand. Seyra side-steps an inch between the two and hovers her arm over his torso.
Her eyes narrow, flashing them a yellow gaze so piercing it could cut stone. “You’re two of the students from the Paldea region, aren’t you?”
The young boy leans out from behind her, his own eyes much softer behind the consuming, messy black of his hair. He can’t seem to decide whether to settle his attention on Louis or Seyra. On one hand, the mask on Louis left his face veiled behind cream and dark, meshed eyes. That, and the night-like colors of his hair, gave him a mysterious flair that drew him in.
On the other, the striking blue of Seyra’s protective stare, accompanied with the fiery hue on her head and the way she moved to shield her friend, made her look especially fierce. “Woah,” he breathes, “way cool..”
“Hush, Kieran.” The older one scolds with a shake of the head before turning her attention back to the Paldean students “I’m Carmine.” She says, her voice carrying the confidence in her smile.
Carmine’s hands lift in a duo of languid waves. “Sorry, but I can’t just let outsiders like you two waltz into Mossui Town.” She lets out a chuckle that’s barely restraining her true skepticism. “If you want to come in, one of you will need to battle me first…” Her attention lingers on Louis before focusing on both at once, that mask rising suspicion in her gut that drives the hope for a match in her head.
She clasps her hands together. “So, I pick..”
However, Kieran interrupts. His tone mumbly and hesitant, yet Carmine still stops to listen. “C-c’mon, sis.. You just wanna battle. You’re makin’ a big fuss over nothin’..”
Carmine suddenly flips like a switch, showcasing a restrained burst of agitation that matches the blood orange undertone of her hair. “I told you to hush, Kiki! I wasn’t done talking!”
The switch flips off, and like magic, her voice is right back to normal. She smiles and hums, “Just ignore my little brother.”
Kieran shrinks back before suddenly leaning half-limp, his head ducked down and shoulders slack. “Aw man..”
