these are getting weird
Plunged into sudden disarray and confusion, pedestrians on Augusta Boulevard were reportedly left frightened and wandering helplessly Monday after encountering a bright orange “Sidewalk Closed” sign. According to witnesses, a growing crowd of disoriented commuters were milling anxiously in front of the sign, with one woman sobbing quietly into her hands and saying, “But this is the sidewalk,” while several others began drifting aimlessly into yards, bushes, and even the street.

We need to fight Stalinism by shutting down any services within 15 mins of where people live
one of my favorite images on earth. the pure unbridled freedom emanating from it. the white car flying over the railroad tracks in the middle of the night....the black cop car half-hidden in the shadows to the left side, likely seconds before pouncing.....the joyous rabbit captured mid-leap, sailing past the jaws of a waiting predator, forever fleeing the inevitable. i feel giddy just looking at it
I would never be mean to my friend and lover public transport but the bus does take the piss sometimes
I feel a bit guilty for slamming an ATL DOT post like this (via Threads). It's true that safer driver behavior is needed, absolutely.
And I know that there are good people at ATL DOT who want to do the right things.
But we live on this street (Ralph McGill Blvd) and we have to deal with the speedway, and many people throughout the city live on similar car sewers and deal with the danger on a daily basis.
Atlantans are tired of just being reminded of long-term plans for safer streets -- we want action. Design matters (and so does quick implementation).
A message to "stop treating streets like racetracks" would land more successfully if city leaders would accept shared culpability for the danger because of their failure to redesign the racetracks on a faster timeline, and promise to do better.
