Today I saw a pic of a baby cowbird next 2 its nest "parent" and it was so much bigger!!!!! Which is the sort of thing that gets normal people upset about the injustice of nest parasitism but makes *me* worry if baby cowbirds get bird dysmorphia

This (from Cornell Labs via Merlin) is the pic I was looking at. It's just a little baby but it's so much bigger than its "parent"!!!! Do baby cowbirds feel isolated? Do they understand they're a different bird, or are they just a really bad sparrow?

The yard is full of young birds and animals, and it is so much fun to watch them. I like the baby appearance almost a bit more than the adult one but I guess it is mostly because I like the diversity. It feels like an honor that their parents decided that this is a safe spot for them to learn how to live. Bonus-tree clip - the Redbellied youngster was not on the ground. Posting this because I‘ve had some people accuse me of AI and so I’m sharing this to dispel it. Not only am I staunchly against AI, I have literally spent a month and a half on this, and have multiple works in progress shots of this piece being made.

Humans have been creating realistic art for centuries and I personally have spent years creating art and loving art, so much time spent on learning only for people to accuse me of not creating anything at all.

I make duplicates of the piece in my gallery in case I make a mistake I can just go back to the previous version, I also included WIP shots with the layers visible.

I frequently merge them during and then again at the end to make room for more layer space as I work on a kind of large canvas in procreate (I tend to use around 20-29 layers)

The cruel irony is that AI most likely stole from my art as it has countless other artists, and just like other artists, now I’M being accused of my own art "looking like AI" because AI stole from me.

It is upsetting and disappointing, I’ve been posting art for years and creating for even longer. I have posted timelapses of various pieces on instagram too (and you will find much more of my art on there as I’ve been posting there the longest.) Even though I understand where the suspicion comes from, especially with AI encroaching on almost every platform, please actually look at an artists socials or ask some questions before you start lobbing accusations of theft and laziness. (Which generative AI is both of those things, in my opinion.)
