One of the most well known monsters in d&d is technically just the larval/nymph stage of a much worse monster.
King Arthur and his knights did have plate armor several centuries ahead of its actual development because Merlin could see the future and he personally equipped the Knights of the Round Table with plate. That's also why they were such powerhouses, because they were using arms and armor way more advanced than what anyone else in the area had.
Now do the version where he gives them black powder too.
I'm going to be honest with you, I absolutely adore this concept.
I don’t think we talk enough about how, despite the presence of multiple globes, PotC takes place on a flat earth, ice wall included.
I'm gonna need some elaboration here
They literally sail over the edge of it after passing through a hole in a wall of ice. They fall off. They get back to the other side by passing through the whole ocean.
But also there’s a globe on, like, everyone’s desk.

I know that this is a joke, but at the same time I've been thinking about it, and there might be a reason for this: magic. I've honestly been pondering it all day, so hear you go:
Now hear me out, I know it sounds like a cop-out but it's actually something that is supported and explained as early as the first movie. Whenever something that is "magic" exists in the PotC universe, it has rules that MUST be followed. In this case, the rule for the edge of the world is that in order to find it, you need the magical map (the circle map Shao Feng has at the beginning of PotC3).
But there are other examples that support this and the "rule" I proposed.
In Curse of the Black Pearl, Barbossa and his crew are specifically cursed until 2 conditions are fulfilled: 1) ALL of the medallions are returned, 2) blood from each member of the offending party (or their descendants, like Will/Bootstrap)
In Dead Man's Chest/At World's End, there is the whole shebang about Davy Jones, specifically how he can only go on land every 10 years. However, there is also some implied rules about his condition - DJ can't feel his heart if it is "buried" (like with the infamous jar of dirt), the fact that they Look Like That because Jones broke his oath/promise (in and of itself something pretty strongly tied to rules, albeit unexplained).
In At World's End, Calypso being unsealed is a pretty big example of this - she can only be unsealed specifically by burning all 9 "Pieces of Eight" (or rather, the stand-ins used), AND if someone releases her from her bonds "as a lover" - granted this one falls into the realm of fae rules and that sort of thing, what with the Po8 not actually being pieces of eight, and the fact that the person who was probably SUPPOSED to release her being Jones (as he was her lover), but it STILL follows a set of rules, and does not deviate from them.
All in all, this really just makes it clear that the world itself is not flat in any degree, but rather that they wound up traveling between Life and Death/DJ's Locker/etc. (or whatever you wanna call it, idc) because they were following the rules of the magic - something that Calypso would know, what with her being a deity.
Granted, there are a few holes in this idea come the later movies (the Bermuda Triangle, why Will started getting gross and barnacles despite seemingly obeying the Dutchman's restriction, the Kraken, Calypso, and mermaids, seeing as they are seemingly magic "without" rules, etc.) But at the very least I think it's a strong enough explanation that it could be used when looking at any other of the PotC films.
This also leads into a different theory of mine:
Magic in the PotC universe is dying out.

the sun:
unfathomably ancient, and will outlive all of us by billions of years
the light coming from it is so strong that brief exposure can burn or blind you even from millions of miles away
once worshipped as a god by various religions and cults who made sacrifices to appease it
will eventually expand as it burns out and dies and consume us in a desperate attempt to extend its lifespan
constantly making incredibly loud noises which would cause agony and eventual deafness if we could hear it, including ‘screams’ before emitting solar flares

the ocean:
an enormous, singular mass that’s constantly heaving and tossing its bulk against the land we build our homes on and gradually ‘eating away’ at it
also extremely old and likely to outlast any of our lifespans
countless people, ships and even entire landmasses have vanished into its depths, never to be seen or heard from again
so vast and dangerous that it’s still mostly uncharted, and less is known about its deepest areas to us than our solar system
full of teeth and tentacles, enormous storms and even more unknown terrors none have ever returned from to tell the that tale of that can and will consume you without thought or reason
also historically worshipped as a god and often characterized in myths and legends as an vengeful, merciless entity
those who sail on it tend to be deeply superstitious and respect its power with a reverence bordering on awe
a single one of the superstorms it brews on a regular basis can devastate vast areas of civilization
will eventually rise and consume us
nuclear radiation:
even brief exposure can cause long-term and irreparable damage, including bleeding, burns, hair loss, premature ageing, internal bleeding and the growth of tumors which cause a wasting disease that consumes your healthy cells until you die
cannot be entirely contained of blocked out, only ‘shielded’ by thick barriers of lead and concrete
radioactive waste is so toxic that it’s buried deep underground and/or entombed within a ‘sarcophagus’ of multiple layers of shielding to prevent it from escaping and infecting the ground we grow and raise our food on, the water we drink and the air we breathe
areas where it has escaped or been set loose and leaked into its surroundings are evacuated and abandoned for hundreds of miles, and anything that survives within them is shunned as a carrier of the infection and contained in ‘exclusion zones’
also capable of outlasting us by many centuries, to the point that people have considered setting up intimidating architecture and writing unsettling cryptic messages to warn future generations not to seek out or disturb it in areas it is concentrated in that sound like biblical accounts of our smiting at the hands of a malevolent god
most accidents that have occurred while handling it are a result of a combination of our lack of knowledge about its abilities and hubris

Drawing Faces (A Collage of Tips)
Hey hey! We just drew a cute sketch of one of the alters in our system (Ava) and, since we’re really happy with it, we’ll share some proportion and facial construction tips that will hopefully help you with drawing too.
Picture for example above, explanation/details are below each picture.
The center of the eye almost always lines up with the corners of the lips (approximately–some people have slightly smaller or larger lips). If you’re confused about the size of the mouth, but the eyes look great, just draw a line down from the center of each eye and you’ll have the exact size of the mouth you need!
It’s approximately five eyes that go across the face (depending on your style, play with this a little). The head wraps in a circle, so if the end eyes go over that’s cool, especially when drawing the face at an angle or in a semi-realistic style like this.
The key part is that one eye width is in between both eyes. This helps remain as a guide for typical eye-to-eye distance. Then, if you have a character who has wider or closer together eyes, you can change that consciously!
Enticing eyelashes have movement! They essentially work like arrows from the center of the eye. Upper eyelashes curve in the opposite direction of the lower eyelashes (directions are on the left side of the above picture).
Just make sure they curve, no one has straight eye lashes (unless you’re deliberately using that for stylistic effect)!
Hair has lots of movement too! Drawing arrows to start getting a sense of direction can be a great place to start. Start the arrow where the hair is attached to the head or pinned (like with a clip or hair tie) and then fan out from there.
Draw hair in sections/chunks that vary in size. See how some are thin sections and others are thicker? Typically on the edges of hair it’s thiner (like by the face, edges of the hair/outline) and in the center of sections it’s thicker.
As always, don’t be afraid to use references so you can see how hair falls on the shape of a human head!
A little neck trick: There is a V of muscles that connects near the collarbones and all the way up to under the ear. Make sure this V is something you draw (even if you erase it because your character has a thicker neck). The thinnest part of the neck cannot be thinner than this V.
Also, shoulder muscles start pretty soon after the neck, so see that thick red line on the side? That’s where the V and the shoulder muscles (the ones that get really sore on all of us) coming around the back connect. This gentle V will add a much more realistic look to the necks you draw and help the head look properly supported!

I love chatacter sheets, but with no character creation rules it feels like putting the cart before the horse
The character will come pre-made. The goal is for people to feel how the dice rolling system is.
This isn’t a test of character building. This is a test for the core dice mechanics.

My favourite idea in modern fantasy is potion candy.
For example in Bayonetta, alchemical recipes are turned into lollipops. They’re tastier, easier to carry around than bottles, and modern crafting techniques means they’re more potent than traditional potions.
Oi, just think of what this entails.
An aesthetically inclined potions master’s or alchemist’s shop would look EXACTLY like a manic pixie dreamland candy store.
Little plastic baggies tied with pink ribbons full of bright and green yellow lozenges that regenerate your health, clearing up colds, the flu, and fevers in a minute.
Color-changing gummy bears that allow you to see in different wavelengths, negating invisibility spells, and opening up a whole new avenue for finding your way around town using the ‘invisible ink’ painted directions for tourists.
Candy bars of chocolate, studded with nuts and other magical ingredients that melt in your mouth, granting you the ability to speak in different tongues and mimic bird calls.
Tins of mints that freshen your breathe and allow you to breathe underwater, coming in packs like ‘grow some gills’, ‘partial shark bite transformation’, and ‘salt water seelie fins’.
Licorice that help you repel anything from tiny insects to terrifying creatures that skitter in the dark - as long as they’re sensitive to the smell of elderberries or whatever the heck the potioneer or alchemist decides to flavor it with.
Gum that, when chewed, spat out, and stuck to an object, forms an incredibly sticky substance which can harden and patch up the hole in your boots and other flavours that waterproof or fireproof or somehow enchant the thing you stick your gum too.
Incredibly expensive gift boxes of Ferrero Rocher-like chocolate balls that are doused with liquid luck. They’re very potent, individually wrapped, and only sold to select clientele.
Gobstoppers that temporarily grant you super strength and stamina with a incredible healing powder at the center so that if you accidentally tear a muscle while lifting something the wrong way, you just bite straight into it and BAM, you’re alright again.
I like this idea a lot.
