Did some urban sketching over the weekend. This is one of St. Mary Cathedral in downtown Austin, TX. I used Staedtler watercolor pencils and a 4B pencil in a Moleskine sketchbook.
I hit up a life drawing session last Monday. It had been a while and I felt it. My lines weren't confident. I put some time in refining the original 50 minute sketch and here is the result. I am happier with it. Practice makes progress.
Sketched up this cafe racer today. Been dreaming of two wheeled adventures lately. Nothing like an open road, twisting the throttle, and leaning into some curves. Done in ballpoint pen.
Having trouble sleeping so I thought I'd post. I haven't been drawing much lately due mostly to handling other creative aspects of getting a website set up. However, this week I spent a lot of time in waiting rooms and sketched up some poinsettias. This is one I had time to finish. Not the prettiest of sketches, but it felt good to put pen to paper. Done in ball point pen.

I also went to the Houston Museum of Natural Science this past weekend. They had some awesome exhibits on Native American cultures as well as a exhibit on Egypt. This is a shot of some of the mummies they had on display. Seeing art and artifacts from thousands of years ago is always a humbling experience. Egyptian art is some of my favorite and the Houston museum didn't disappoint! I took so many pics. They also had replicas if the Rosetta Stone and the bust of Nefertiti. Sneak peek at an upcoming t-shirt design made for those who ride (bicycles or motorcycles). After some thought I figured I should focus my shirt designs on things I am passionate about. I have loved riding bicycles since I was a small kid, and that same love translated to motorcycles upon adulthood. I started riding motorcycles in 2003 and have dug every minute of saddletime. So, this design is going to be for those who love riding chain driven vehicles. The full, finished design coming soon!!
A closeup of a feng shui painting meant to bring in more fortune/$. I enjoyed experimenting with this one. Watercolor pencils, sepia ink, and acrylic paint on watercolor paper.
Update on the work in progress notebook. I stained the leather and painted the peony with whites and pinks. But I now think I need to repaint some of the petals to change the directional lines so it looks more like a peony and to give it more dimensionality. Gonna keep going.
Sketched out an idea for a cloak after watching a bit of the Marco Polo on Netflix. The top eye is a sketch that includes various ideas for the corners of the borders. I've been working in leather lately and I think I could make something as detailed as this strap setup if I used a woodburner. It is autumn in TX and I could use a cloak for an upcoming January event. I also sketched a idea for a knotwork ankh. I think it looks pretty cool and I want to incorporate in my garb/costume somewhere.

Some more fanart for Inktober. This one is of @missfelicitydavis and her awesome rendition of Ms. Marvel. Check out her feed where she posts tons of outstanding cosplay! On this one, the inks were done with a brushpen and a Micron pen. The colors done with watercolor pencils (the sketchpad was not a good paper choice for watercolor, it buckled). The fire effect didn't come out like I would have liked. Still, not a bad experiment there, learned some stuff for next time.
