To the multiple asks in my inbox about communist parties/orgs in the US, I will give some general advice.

Joining an organization is not a permanent decision. Don't get too in your head about it. Pick a local org that impresses you the most and do your best to network with other communists, educate each other, and study the local conditions in preparation for further activities.

There are no Bolsheviks in the US. That is to say, we are not at a level of revolutionary organizing where we can look to one party and say "this is the one, these folks are the vanguard, if we work with them we will achieve revolution". The October Revolution happened twelve years after Bloody Sunday and the Revolution of 1905, and we are not even yet at a Bloody Sunday of our own, although we might be getting there if current events continue to disillusion the masses. The Bolsheviks only formally split from the Social-Democrats in 1912.

While it is certainly possible and useful to identify reactionaries and opportunists among the US left, we are not yet at the point at which we can avoid them altogether in our organizational activities. Every org will contain some regressive elements and hold on to some regressive ideas, especially more so in the present, but even once the revolution is underway. If your goal is to find a group of unblemished perfectly progressive activists who all share your own beliefs, give up now and save yourself the trouble.

On that note I recommend reading Lenin's "Left-Wing Communism", particularly chapters six and seven. There are no perfect organizations; as Lenin wrote, "We can (and must) begin to build socialism, not with abstract human material, or with human material specially prepared by us, but with the human material bequeathed to us by capitalism. True, that is no easy matter, but no other approach to this task is serious enough to warrant discussion."

hi... due to my poor (worsening, it seems.) health situation i had another crappy month where i've gotten through nowhere near enough of my work and i am in a really awful spot financially, which is to say right now i can't afford rent, pain medicine (and i am in dire need of it right now 😔), phone bill, or groceries. i have no choice but to ask for help if it's not a problem and isn't going to put you in a bad spot financially in turn.
