I think there's an essay to write about the relationship books like A Brief History of Time Lords and Whology have with the Expanded Universe.

They draw from the EU fairly often but usually in a way that casual fan might miss, which is kind of a tedious balance. That creates a somewhat bizarre picture of what is and isn't acknowledged. Figuring out where that line falls and comparing it with how other books/the stories handle it would be really neat! You could really dig into the idea of 'canon' in DW!

Unfortunately that likely also means bring up Portia da Costa's The Stranger in a semi-academic setting, and I am not a brave enough man to do it.

Writers have two modes and they are "i haven't written in three weeks and i am rotting from the inside and everything feels wrong and i don't know who i am anymore" and "i wrote for four hours straight and forgot to eat and it's dark outside and when did that happen and i feel like a god" and there is nothing in between. no chill. no medium setting. just famine or feast and a very confused nervous system.

Ahsoka and Maul back to the Clone Wars (these two would get a lot done but confuse a lot of people while they're at it)

Dooku and Obi-wan (I've actually seen some of these, and they're really great) back to when Obi-Wan was a child OR right before TPM

Han and Anakin back to TCW (Father in law bonding, hellish edition)

Leia and Anakin back from the end of ROTJ to ANH (Father daughter bonding, hellish edition)

he would not fucking say that, but with disability.. he would not fucking be able bodied. sick n tired of characters walking away from multiple life changing injuries without a scratch. let’s get some natural consequences in here.

give that knife/sword fight survivor nerve damage. give the character who was shot in the gut a stoma. give that fire survivor lung damage and an oxygen cannula. give that leg injury survivor a cane. give that starvation survivor gastroparesis. give that spinal injury survivor a manual chair or powerchair.

while we’re at it, give your characters congenital disabilities too, just because. give them intellectual and development disabilities. give them acquired and postviral illnesses. dare to make somebody bedbound. for me.
