*In-ho comes onto set one day, and Gi-hun watches excitedly as the cinematographer goes over the different parts of the camera; something twinges in him as he storms over, but he hesitates as he sees the cinematographer is rushing through explanations, irate*
In-ho: *approaches coolly* Good morning, Gi-hun.
Gi-hun: Hwang-ssi! This guy was on the set of Hunt! And he shot and edited most of the clips from the American sets- How cool is that?!
Cam guy: *ignoring him* Are we using the RED or just a DSLR for these shots?
In-ho: The DSLRs are fine. Show me what you have.
*Gi-hun deflates a little*
Gi-hun: *perks up a little* So, you can edit directly *in* the camera?
In-ho: Not necessarily. Most will be done on computers, but how you preset the camera can make a world of difference. Here, let me see.
*the cinematographer huffs as In-ho changes the camera settings, but it's worth it to see Gi-hun try to follow his motions through different aperture and white balance settings*
Gi-hun: 😮 The whole mood just changed!
Cam guy: *takes camera back* Okay, so what do you want for this scene?
*Gi-hun can hardly keep a smile off his face throughout takes, even as he makes out with the actress with him on the bed, and In-ho is jealous of the way he caresses her cheek as her hands run down his chest; still the second he yells cut, he's back in a robe and he rushes over to the camera and the director, until In-ho reluctantly has to tell him to control himself; but the light in Gi-hun’s eyes is invaluable for these next shots, and In-ho can hardly look away (not that him being completely bare is helping); after a few hours, when shooting is done for the day, In-ho is exhausted, but Gi-hun is still bubbly as ever; he tries to review dailies with the camera team, but his eyes stay on of Gi-hun*
Gi-hun: So what are we doing now? I thought all this happened in post! Is there I way I can hang out with the post-production team? Also, I'm so sorry I was being so random in half of these takes. *blushes* I never know what to do when I'm naked, and- Oh, we can... You guys edit *while* we're shooting? So, wait. Do we use Blender or Studio to edit or-
In-ho: *laughs out loud* We use something a bit more powerful than that, Gi-hun-ssi.
*the camera team rolls there eyes*
Gi-hun: But where do you guys *learn* all this stuff?!
Cam guy: *annoyed* YouTube.
Cam assist: *haughtily* SNU.
Cam assist 2: My dad makes movies in Taiwan.
In-ho: Actually, filmmaking has followed me throughout most of my life. I've made and watched films ever since young.
In-ho: *Oh, how cute* What about you?
Gi-hun: Well, I was in drama club, then in high school, I acted for three years, and my mom suggested I go to college for acting, but I really needed to take care of my brother. I was literally handing the agent who talked to me coffee when she suggested me coming to her agency for modeling work. After that, I was in my first commercial and... now I'm here! Kinda lucky, I guess.
*the camera team give him annoyed, tense smiles, carefully moving him out of the way*
In-ho: Perhaps not. Seems you were headed in this direction. What do you like more filmmaking or acting?
Gi-hun: I've never don- I mean, I've never held a film camera before. Except like camcorders for my friends when we were messing around, *picks up camera* but I've always been interested in making films!
Cam guy: *snatches it* Put that down!
Gi-hun: Oh! Sorry! Sorry.
In-ho: *glares at him, but realizes they need to finish preliminary edits and sequencing* Why don’t we come this way? *leads Gi-hun away* Actually, I can show you some of the cameras I like to use for my own personal work-
Gi-hun: COOL! *takes DSLR from his hands*
In-ho: Careful! *he places the strap over Gi-hun’s head* This is pretty old, but a few years ago? It was pretty top of the line.
Gi-hun: We still use it, though! And you're the one always saying "We can shoot on anything. All you have to do is point the camera"!
In-ho: *blushes* Haha, w-well, not this time. Most "basic" cameras can produce good quality images, but each one is limited to the technology that was available at the time.
In-ho: 😰 But some films in their entirety are shot on smartphones. There's many ways to tell a story. I'd... be happy to show you.
*Gi-hun smiles and In-ho’s breath catches*
Gi-hun: That'd be amazing! 🤩
