I just want to tell writers that it's okay to think your own writing is awesome. It doesn't make you vain. It doesn't mean you have the Dunning-Kruger effect. It doesn't mean you aren't critical enough. As someone who always felt like I didn't judge myself harshly enough over my writing, I wish someone had told me that when I was learning. Yes, I want people to suggest improvement when I ask for it. But it's okay to be confident in your overall skills. It doesn't mean you're doing it wrong. Trust me, the people who are actually incompetent NEVER doubt themselves.

About three years ago a stranger from tumblr sent me $15 and told me to buy a cutting board with it. I bought a 3-pack of plastic cutting boards with it that I still use all the time. Idk who that person is but their impact on my life is sitting behind my sink and allows me the luxury of having different sizes of cutting boards to choose from. Those cutting boards are well loved and frequently used and I do often think of you when I use them, whoever you are. So if you’re out there, thank you again.
