Alright, I’ve been looking for this story for far too long, and it’s gotten to the point where I’m banging my head against the wall.

I’m looking for a Fantastic Beasts and where to find them Fanfic, I think it’s part of a collection, maybe large? The chapter it’s in is probably less than a 1000 words. I haven’t read it in years, but I’m mostly positive it’s on Ao3. So helpful I know…

The gist of it is: Tina brings Newt to her apartment and Queenie is there ready to raze the earth for her sister. This is from Queenie’s PoV and she goes from Newt is a threat to Newt must be protected for he is precious.

Also I’m thinking about Allen again, and how his life is just an on fire garbage can. Like, I think out of every character I can think of, his life is just the worst. Not the Most Intensely Traumatic (might give that to Ciel Phantomhive tbh, for single worst experience) but it’s just so unrelentingly soul-destroying.

Because he starts off, right, as a child, and he doesn’t know who he is. He doesn’t know where he came from. He has nothing and no one.

Then he gets taken in. And everything he knows about that guy later turns out to be a lie. He knows nothing about that man and that man knows nothing about him. He gains his whole identity and all of it is about as substantial as paper maché.

He gets taken in by another guy. That guy knows some stuff and tells him none of it. He learns to lie about everything to everyone in a very sincere attempt to pretend he doesn’t exist and is in fact someone that he just isn’t. It’s not him. He doesn’t want anyone to meet him.

He moves on. Everyone adores not-him and he adores all of them. He still doesn’t want them to meet him.

Things start happening. He finds out he’s a vessel for someone else, in a different way from how he was previously. At some point that guy will probably destroy him, leaving no trace of him in the world. Both the people that raised him knew this.

More things happen. The real him isn’t real either. He’s some other guy he’s never heard of and doesn’t understand and doesn’t know anything about, who made a lot of promises to a lot of people. He doesn’t know what they are. He’s expected to uphold them anyway.

And that’s where we’re at. Allen is a person that doesn’t exist and has never existed and everything about him is a lie from top to bottom. And Allen has to live with that.

Shipping Markiplier's guy from Iron Lung with Ryan Gosling's guy from Project Hail Mary is a great example of a crossover ship that is not, per se, a crack ship.

These two never met and the stories they are from are not technically all that compatible (Grace is trying to stop the stars from going out, Simon exists in a far-future society where they already did), and yet, the themes and circumstances of the characters do create the irrefutable impression that if they ever DID meet then they would have a whole lot of feelings about it. They would not, indeed could not be normal about each other without that seeming weirder than if they had sex about it.

Basically a similar reason why some stories will pick veterinarian instead of other doctors when you need the protag to do something difficult to the point of absurdity and outside usual medical knowledge but still medicaly related.

Vet are used to work on very varied patients that can't communicate their need precisely and often will have learned to adapt tools because they aren't made for their patient.

Listen when a vet manage to neuter a lady rat or a less than 1.5kg chihuahua without any harm or lasting mark?? And sometime both in the same day? Scary cool.

Anyway if you need something explained very well and er...creative use of any material around (due to no money) with a somewhat good reaction under pressure, teacher are a good choice in a story :) also the "not qualified" is very realistic in a way. If you are passionate about your subject there is no way to get less confident about it than teaching. It's TERRIFYING, cause your administration crush you, you are not paid well, your students may not care but mostly... WHAT IF YOU TAUGHT THEM WRONG AND RUINED ALL THEIR FUTUR !

i'm barely joking it depend on the age, very young and it is a constant fear, teaching anything to middle schooler is a victory,end of it and high school get very scary cause that's when they'll start to orient their career choice and it's well known that a teacher that fuck up may just destroy a subject forever for a student.

Anyway ; cheer for teacher that don't loose the passion and don't succomb to anxiety and depression, y'all are the best and deserve better
