my conspiracy for me is that right now, it's very much a contract type thing, like don't you forget it's the two of us or nothing etc but just in general I think mack and will love the idea of like, all those legendary hockey duos and model themselves after that vibe. they idolize guys like kane and crosby and mcdavid, who are all known for having one guy to do it with and I think that's something they've been chasing every since they met. like, they live with marleau and jumbo, who famously refused to stop rooming together years after they had to because they liked each other so much, and that's what they want. they're myth making.

no like. how was that not everyone’s first thought when listening to that podcast??? william, for a hockey guy you are BAFFLING!! set up home alone traps bc he was scared someone would break into the house and “get them.” making personalized gifts for the sharks staff?? not only putting up but LEAVING christmas decorations up for months after christmas. i’m barely scratching the surface. will is fucking WEIRD, like i’m throwing my willhead hat on the table and saying mack is objectively the more normal of the two. at least he’s weird in a defined hockey boy way. idk WHAT will is

will barely even knowing when his family is there for road games but having to be a good sport after and taking pictures with seventy-five family friends he's barely met, will refusing to spend time alone with his dad but taking mack along to everything he does and his dad not reading the room and leaving him the f alone for one millisecond, will always wanting to do something and plan something and stay busy because otherwise the voices get to him, mom who is a control freak with a color coded spreadsheet saying will is the best planner after her, colleen talking about how 'we' were playing denver etc about will's teams like she was part of it, the bedazzled jackets and inserting herself into every inch of his life down to the wag chat and getting all will's friends to call her mom, buying a whole ass cape cod house so will and his friends can come stay over and colleen can once more be part of that junior hockey vibe she seems to miss so much, the way none of the smiths have ever heard of being alone or taking motherfucking chill pill at all, will somehow being extremely gay coded and instead of being heinously bullied for it in a sport that revolves entirely around masculinity ending up beloved by every dude he's ever played with and their girlfriends, cat 'will has so many friends!', colleen being surprised mack and will are that close even though will's known for codependent boy best friends, the way she was like but I wonder if they'd been as close if they hadn't had that shared experience together. like anon this is a SKILLS issue I fear!!!!

torn between feeling vindicated as someone who wanted mack far from the olympics and feeling sad as a willhead to watch him get scared of being on a breakaway with mine two eyes and seeing him turn around on the breakaway chance. what is warsofsky doing to the wackles

everyone devastated over that mack post game interview which 1) wouldn’t have happened if his play off dreams hadn’t been indulged and catered to to this degree so that he now feels even more responsible if he can’t get them there 2) warso had had ANY other plan than “just throw mack on there a lot” which he’s been doing the entire year and people kept defending and wanting more of 3) the focus had been on developing a good team rather than winning by the skin of mack’s teeth so warso can pat himself on the back and feel like a good coach.

plus, everyone wanted him to get the c right? could’ve protected him from having to do this kind of media for at least another year but but but but everyone wanted him thrown to the wolves for that shiny c agenda. was it worth it. was it
