During one of my lessons, I slid off the front of my blade (making me desperately miss my toe picks) hit my knees and then slipped off my knee guards and smashed my face into the ice. I felt my teeth hit the ice. I looked like someone had punched me. I had a busted, fat, bleeding lip, bloody nose, a gash on my chin and a big bruise on my cheek. I'm very stubborn so I cleaned up and got back on to finish my lesson. The public skaters were looking at me like I'd lost my mind, but my coach was delighted.
#dumb skating rants#I've had a bit of anxiety lately so my most recent lesson was tough for me.#I need to work harder.#It's just frustrating that things that are so easy for me in figure skates are so difficult in hockey skates.#Especially anything going backwards. It's mostly psychological since I can do it all but am not committing enough to put some power into it#Also I've started working on stickhandling which is both easier and harder than I imagined.
