Crosshair grew up in the Bronx, New York, the son of New Zealand immigrants. His family had brought Māori with them (the indigenous Polynesian language of the Māori people) and it was as much a part of the household as English was. He and his three brothers were quadruplets, and they grew up a few streets over from their older cousins Echo and Fives, who were twins. Multiple births seemed to run in the family.
Their parents died while the brothers were still in high school, leaving them to raise their younger sister on their own. In 1942, the draft age dropped from 21 to 18, and all four brothers were conscripted into the Army at once. She was around nine years old when they left. All four brothers listed her as their emergency contact, because there wasn’t anyone else.
They didn’t stay in the general ranks for long. Captain Rex noticed that the brothers each brought something distinct to the table. One handled demolitions. One could work out a technical problem faster than most people could identify it. One kept the other three pointed in the same direction. And Crosshair shot things that needed shooting, at distances that shouldn’t have been possible. They also spoke fluent Te Reo Māori, which was not a language enemy forces were likely to crack. Rex flagged them for the Office of Strategic Services, and the OSS agreed. The four brothers were designated the 99th OSS Operational Group: a small, self-contained unit built around their particular mix of skills. Among themselves, they called it the Bad Batch.
After the war, Crosshair spent a fair amount of time at the Copacabana. He’d found that a billiards table was a reasonable place to make money. This was, of course, enabled by his steady hands, good read on angles, and enough patience to let the other guy think he had a chance. It wasn’t so different from what he’d done during the war. Just quieter, and significantly more lucrative.

Wrecker grew up in the Bronx with his three brothers, the son of New Zealand immigrants, a few streets over from his older cousins Echo and Fives. He was conscripted into the Army in 1942 at eighteen and was quickly pulled into the Office of Strategic Services by Captain Rex. Alongside his brothers, he became an integral part of the 99th OSS Operational Group — the Bad Batch. His specialty among them is explosives, finding new and creative uses for each bomb in the arsenal.
Not long after being drafted, he was caught in a bad accident. It left scarring across the left side of his body, cost him the sight in his left eye, and took most of the hearing in his left ear.
Of the four brothers, Wrecker is the loudest and the hardest to miss. He is quick to laugh, quick to act, and genuinely fond of just about everyone he meets. While in active duty, he wrote to his younger sister Omega as much as he could, sending letters stuffed with small trinkets found on missions and drawings he’d made for her.
After the war, he took a job at the Copacabana as a bouncer, a perfect position for his large stature, and one that continues to keep his family close.

hey do you ever think about how in the training simulation in episode one, Hunter sends Tech out to go solve their new problem by rewiring something? and then Tech falls? do you think about "Tech, get us in the air. the rest of us will find crosshair." do you think about how Tech tried to call explicit attention to how weird Crosshair was acting in the hall after the Palpatine speech and Hunter was too focused on Omega to pay attention? do you think about how Tech tried again in the cafeteria and Hunter was again distracted by Omega's arrival? do you think about how he also tried in the barracks and Hunter was distracted by arguing with Crosshair about his leadership capabilities? and again in the cell, and again Hunter was too busy arguing about leadership? do you think about it. because I think about it all the time.

Echo grew up in the Bronx, the child of immigrants from New Zealand, and lived a few streets over from his cousins (the quadruplet brothers who would later become the Bad Batch). He and his twin brother Fives had been on their own since college, after they lost their parents, and had managed well enough between the two of them.
He started his bachelor’s degree at Columbia in 1938, the same university where, two years later, he’d meet a first-year student named Riyo Chuchi. She was sharp and certain about many ideals, and they agreed on enough of them that it turned into something more. By the time he graduated in 1941 he was putting her name down as his emergency contact on his draft registration.
When the draft came that same year, Echo and Fives went together. Both were assigned to the 501st Infantry, with Echo as serial number 1409. They shipped out the same way they’d done most things: side by side. While he is away, he writes to Riyo every week without fail.

authors note: Hey guys!! So I know this isn’t much backstory written for Echo. That’s because he is one of the more main characters I will be telling the story about and didn’t want to give too much away! 💕 Hope that is cool with you guys. You can expect much more content about him in the future!! Also, I know not a ton of people ship Echo and Riyo. I personally love most ships Riyo is in, so no bias here! I just feel like their dynamic would fit a 1940’s setting really well. So in my mind it just makes sense for this AU! Hope you guys agree! Love you!!
When recess had ended and all the enrolled students had filed into the building, the clones’ tour continued. Wrecker carried Omega on his back as she rested, tired from the play she had so eagerly engaged in with the other children at the school. As the glowing orbs on the vines began to shine brighter, Rivqah showed the small businesses surrounding the main road. To finish it off, Rivqah insisted on showing them the lake. When they arrived at the sandy beach, each of them took a moment to admire its size and the peaceful sound of the gentle waves. Omega squirmed out of Wrecker’s hold to run to the edge of the water.
“This is nice,” Hunter said as he stood beside Rivqah, arms crossed as he watched Omega pick up a stick to poke at something in the water.
“If you think this is nice, wait ‘til you see my secret spot.” She purred out as she began walking along the beach.
“Secret spot?” Wrecker questioned as he began to follow along with the other clones.
“Is it much of a secret if you’re showing it to us?” Echo leaned his head away from Nova as the droid buzzed around his head, seemingly lazily.
“Let me think,” Rivqah began walking backward to face the four of them. “You already know my health issues, my embarrassing level of excitement to see all of you in person, and last night you got a pretty solid idea of my drinking habits. Oh, and you’ve already seen me naked. I think it’s okay, I share one more secret today.” She giggled as she turned to walk forward again.
“How generous of you,” Tech said flatly, studying the way her hips shifted as she trudged the uneven terrain and the way the fabric of her skirt swayed, flashes of her nude backside running through his brain at the reminder of the encounter.
“Yeah, just stay out of my bedroom,” she laughed as she approached a large fallen tree trunk where the beach line cut off, straddling it before calling for Omega to join the rest of the group.
She waited for Omega to catch up before leading the group through the jungle. The sound of waves didn’t fade despite the lack of beach in view. There wasn’t an actual trail, but Hunter noticed a subtle clearing Rivqah had made through frequent visits. To the average eye, it would all blend together, but he could see how each branch and vine was shifted to perfectly fit her frame. He watched as she gripped the trunk of a tree, stepping over another fallen tree. When she let go, there was scraping left behind from countless touches in that exact spot. It didn’t smell like anyone but her down this passage. When they arrived at the smaller, sandy area nestled between large boulders, everyone took the time to admire the location.
Rivqah went straight to a wooden chest that was wedged between rocks, climbing onto a smaller boulder to sit on her knees. She glanced at Omega as she pulled a woven blanket from it.
“There are some really cool fish that always swim by the shore,” Rivqah said through a smile, watching as the child predictably raced to see for herself.
The clones watched as Rivqah pulled out a small pipe and a cylinder, opening it to reveal green bundles of leaves, then packing them into the bowl. She glanced to make sure Omega’s back was facing her before taking a lighter and pressing the tip of her pipes to her lips.
Tech studied her behavior as she inhaled, blowing a large cloud of smoke away from the sandy part of the beach. The familiar scent from the hookah in the bathroom brought his mind back to the image of her. He startles, gripping his data pad tightly when a moan escapes her throat as she stretches over the rock, her head hanging off behind it.
“What is that?” Wrecker asked, wide-eyed, as he leaned over her smaller frame, staring at the way her long hair hangs from her scalp, its edges brushing against the foliage beneath.
“My guess is Marcan,” Tech fixes his goggles. “A genus of flowering plant used for recreational and medicinal purposes. It contains psychoactive compounds, primarily Tetrahydrocannabinol, resulting in mental and physical effects such as euphoria, relaxation, or paranoia depending on the person and situation- also known as a high.” He says, looking at his datapad.
“That is correct,” Nova stated as he hovered slightly apart from the group, scanning the area. “Rivqah utilizes said compounds to manage pain and restlessness. It is a popular choice on Parahdee.”
Rivqah lazily raised an arm to point to Tech, bobbing the finger as she took another hit in acknowledgment. When the cloud escaped her lungs, she sat back up. “You’ve never smoked before?” She asked with a sour expression as she dug in her wooden chest to pull out a water bottle, opening it to take a couple of large gulps.
“No,” Hunter said, cautiously looking to Omega at the sound of a splash, watching as she wades into the water with her pant legs pulled up to her thighs.
“Oh,” Rivqah voices through another cloud, waving it away. “Want to?”
Hunter looked back at Rivqah, staring at the fresh haze in her eyes. The smoke's scent was strong, nearly masking her natural scent, though as it dissipated with the breeze, he was pleasantly surprised by how much sweeter she smelled. The offer was tempting, to share a similar state of mind with that scent, but another splash and glance at Omega shut the idea down. He needed to feel sharp with a child in the water.
“Paranoia?” Echo winced at the idea, shaking his head. “I’m not taking chances.”
“It’s all about the vibes,” she spoke slower than she had ever during their time spent with her so far. A pleasurable crackle broke through her voice as she continued. “You guys are safe here.”
“Alright, I’ll try,” Wrecker said as if his leg was being pulled.
Rivqah grinned, turning to face him and straddling the boulder. She handed him the pipe carefully, guiding him to put the pipe to his lips. She brought the lighter to the bowl, softly instructing him on what to do. She shook her hand off when the heat of the tiny flame was almost too much to handle. She watched him inhale, then quickly reached for the water bottle when he began coughing.
“That’s a good hit when you cough,” she laughed as she passed the cure to him, patting his back as he quickly drank to cool the burning in his throat.
“I will try it as well,” Tech said as he sat in the sand in front of Rivqah. “It will be interesting to personally test the effects of a common drug.”
“You guys do that,” Hunter said, eyes lingering on Rivqah as she helped Tech take his first hit.

It didn’t take long for the Rivqah, Tech, and Wrecker to make their way to lie on her large blanket. She lay between both of them, only half of Wrecker’s frame fitting the edge. He didn’t care, though; he was too focused on the way the vines above wrapped around the branches, admiring the flexibility and coiling of the plants.
“I feel so heavy,” Wrecker mumbled, half-lidded eyes scanning the glorious sight.
“Interesting,” Tech says, his arm draped over his stomach to provide a comfortable weight. “I feel light.”
Rivqah inhaled deeply through her nostrils as she sat up, twisting her torso to look over both of them. “Like, in good ways?”
“The best,” they both agreed in unison.
She giggled and shifted to look forward to the lake. Her relaxed eyes tracked Omega as the child splashed around, fully given up on keeping her clothes dry. Echo and Hunter stood at each other’s sides, supervising Omega with idle conversation. That end of the beach began to look more interesting. She stumbled as she came to her feet, brushing sand from her dress.
“I’m gonna go see what they’re up to,” she mumbled as she left the blanket, quietly approaching the shore.
“Where did Rivqah go?” Tech asked only moments after she left, staring at the sun vines through his goggles.
“Dunno,” Wrecker mumbled.
Hunter’s attention was slightly turned to Rivqah, watching her take long and slow steps toward both of them. His arm stretched out to her when he noticed how her legs slightly wobbled with the sand shifting beneath her feet. She grabbed his arm, stumbling over a pile of sand to squeeze between them. She leaned into Hunter’s side, wrapping his arm around her shoulder like a blanket. Hunter looked down to watch as she lay her head on the side of his chest plate. Finally, he thought, it was his turn to be close to her today. He lightly fists the arm near her chest, careful to avoid accidentally brushing his fingers against her breast.
Rivqah reached her arms to the side once Hunter’s arm was settled on her shoulders, snaking them around Echo’s bicep, pulling him closer to hug his arm. She hummed in contentment, unaware of the way Hunter and Echo exchanged glances, communicating their surprise without words. Physical touch was rare for all of them, and never in broad daylight with the expectation that they’d continue any type of relationship moving forward. The unfamiliarity of it all caused a rush of anxiety.
“I’m so happy you’re finally here,”
The melody of her phrase startled them both. They broke eye contact to take in her expression, observing her serene face. Her eyes fluttered open to lock onto Omega again, smiling at the way the child lifted a weed to investigate it.
“Does she know how to swim?” She looked up to Hunter for an answer.
His eyes met hers, slowly shaking his head without breaking contact. Just as his gaze began to trail to her lips, she shimmied out of their arms, swung her arms back and forward to clap.
“I’m going in,” she said eagerly, smiling at Omega when the clap got her attention.
Rivqah reached behind her to untie the skirt of her dress, shaking her legs until the fabric pooled at her ankles. As she stepped out, Echo glanced at her backside with wide eyes, relieved to discover that Rivqah was wearing bikini bottoms. But he couldn’t help but notice the way the fabric hugged her flesh. He groaned in frustration with himself and walked away toward Tech and Wrecker, ashamed.
Hunter chuckled a bit at the other’s reaction, looking back to Omega and Rivqah as the woman approached with an exchange of words. He sighed and lowered until he was settled in the stand, spending the next hour watching as Rivqah gave Omega her first lesson in swimming.
A/N: Yeah, I head canon that Omega doesn’t actually know how to swim despite having grown up on Kamino because she was only ever a medical assistant. LOL it’s meant to be ironic
Oooo love new people writing for the bad batch!! Welcomeeeeeeee!!! I’d love like a tbb x plus size reader or like what them flirting would be like??
A/N: Thank you for my first request! I’m really sorry if this isn’t exactly what you want- I’ve been having a really hard time with this prompt simply because I don’t really headcanon tbb as treating a plus size reader very differently than any other reader 😭 so it’s short, but it exists
TBB x PlusSize!Reader
Hunter
Hunter loves thick thighs. I said it.
His hand would always manage to somehow find your thigh if you sit next to him. At first, it would just rest there. But without even thinking about it- he’d squeeze and massage.
Sit on his lap. If you’re worried about the weight, he’d do his best to assure you that it’s more than okay. And honestly? If you still don’t believe him, he’d start to beg (only in private of course, he can’t let his squad think their sergeant is that desperate).
Echo
I truly think Echo would appreciate a plus-size reader so much. For him, to feel like he doesn’t have a lot of flesh himself, to be loved by someone with extra, it makes him feel whole.
He would unironically say that to you as well if you’re ever feeling insecure about your weight too. He knows it’s corny. He doesn’t care.
Wrecker
This one feels obvious: but he 100% would brag about how much he can lift around you. When you tell him his weight, he’d just laugh and go “That’s all? That’s light work.”
Would always pick you up, and only ever put you down unless absolutely necessary or you’re pleading with him that you need to pee.
Tech
Tech is different from his brothers. He already doesn’t see why body shape or size matters- and honestly your weight would be something he doesn’t even consider when it comes to loving you.
However, hidden behind lengthy info dumps, if you pay close enough attention you might notice him slip in a fact about why someone with your body type is an ideal mate.
If you ever questioned if you were attractive to him though- he would just bluntly say it if you’re already dating: “Yes. I find you to be extraordinarily beautiful.”
If you’re not already dating? He would likely drop a statistic on how your body type is desirable.
Crosshair
Genuinely believe he would be more of a cuddler if he was with a plus-size reader. He wouldn’t ask. And don’t you dare comment on it, but he’d snuggle up on you and lay his head on your chest like you’re a teddy bear.
He’d comment on how warm you are, and it never sounds like he’s annoyed, rather completely relieved. (I HC Crosshair as hating the cold iykyk)
Would totally stare if you bent down in front of him, and he wouldn’t care if you noticed. In fact, he hopes you do notice.
The next morning came with anticipation. Rest was even easier than before, and the morning light was inviting. The clones enjoyed the peaceful chirping of birds as each prepared for the day, and mild surprise filled them when they spotted Rivqah standing at the bottom of the staircase. There was an unspoken concern that the clones held when Rivqah offered to meet them in the morning for a tour of the village. From the last two meetings, she had been late. However, in this moment, she was certainly ready, wearing another sheer dress that exposed her midriff, hair half up, speaking to a white metallic orb droid that floated near her head.
“I am simply stating my concern,” the droid speaks with a masculine tone. “Your lack of proper sleep and alcohol consumption will cause heavy fatigue and-“
Rivqah turns her attention from the droid when she notices a group of familiar clones closing in from down the droid, taking a few steps away from the droid in order to greet them. Despite the droid’s expressed concern, she looked well refreshed.
“Good morning!” She sang.
The group exchanged light greetings as they continued to approach. Tech stared at the floating droid as the others admired her dress, hair, or smile.
“What is this?” Tech inquired with a knuckle pressed to his chin, stepping closer to the orb.
“My name is Nova,” a light blue light scanned from left to right on a black line centered on his plain face, black camera lenses shifting to focus in and out on Tech. “I am Rivqah’s health service droid. My directive is to monitor her health to prevent burnout and distress, as well as tend to any disability caused symptoms.”
“Disability?” Wrecker looked to Rivqah in concern.
“It’s nothing-“ she begins with a light wave.
“It is not ‘nothing’. Rivqah has CPTSD along with chronic pain and fatigue,” the droid listed, hovering from clone to clone quickly.
Rivqah cringed at the droid’s response, her cheeks becoming warm with embarrassment. Worry rushes through her veins as she averts her gaze to the entrance. Perhaps, she thought, it was a topic that should have been brought up over dinner. It should have been a factor in their decision to work with her.
“What is CPTSD?” Omega rolled over the letters slowly, as if they were marbles in her mouth that she was trying very hard not to drop.
“Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder,” he pauses to scan Rivqah before furthering his explanation. “Your vitals are indicating a spike in cortisol.”
Rivqah turned to look at the droid, hands fidgeting with the fabric of her skirt. Her eyebrows furrowed. “Is it an unusual level for this time of day?”
The droid stared for a moment as it loaded in information. “Your average morning cortisol levels have increased by 33% in recent weeks, likely due to the excitement of meeting Clone Task Force 99.”
Silence fell over the group as they registered the words. It was flattering. Especially for Tech, who understood the implications of the hormone, and Hunter, who can smell the pleasing metallic scent on her again, to know their arrival caused such excitement. It felt awkward as well to be abruptly made aware of the result of the trauma she had endured. However, given that she stated she was a refugee, it wasn’t entirely surprising. What was most surprising about the situation was Tech’s quick recovery, which took the pressure off Rivqah like it had never been there.
“Fascinating,” Tech breathed as his head tilted around the droid to study the details of it. “A disability specific service droid must make navigating life much easier. Especially for such a complex disability.”
“Yes,” the droid answered with pride. “Rivqah’s distressed levels have dropped on an average of 11.67 percent each year I have assisted her, 58.9133468 percent less overall since I began working as her service droid.”
“I am very grateful,” Rivqah says relaxed once again.
“You have stated many times. I suggest a decent breakfast before you begin your day to calm your nerves,” the droid retracted from Tech to hover over Rivqah’s shoulder as he spoke.
“Exactly my thoughts,” Rivqah said cheerfully as she began to approach the wide doors to the front entrance. “Who else is hungry?”
“I’m always hungry!” Wrecker laughs as he lands a playful nudge on Tech’s shoulder and races to follow.
The steps leading down to the village's main stone path were many. Minutes would pass before they reached the bottom. Tech made an effort to stand close to Rivqah’s side, watching every movement her droid made as she carefully gripped the railing of the staircase.
“I recommend taking a break at step 57 to avoid any accidents,” The droid says as it lowers to be closer to Rivqah’s legs.
“I don’t want to take a break, and I’m not counting steps,” she sighed as she continued walking.
“That is okay. I will count for you.” The droid begins to count down, not leaving very much room for quiet conversation as the time passes.
“I’m sorry, he’s used to my walks being later in the day and alone,” Rivqah glances back to the others, shoulders tensing again in embarrassment.
“You don’t need to apologize,” Echo responded quickly with a soft smile, waving his scomp link to signal his relatability.
Rivqah’s shoulders relaxed again, keeping her eyes on Echo with an appreciative smile, ignoring Nova as he finished counting down “4...3…2…1..”
Rivqah’s foot slips after two extra steps, gasping as gravity urges her backside to slam into the stairs. However, Tech quickly loops his arm around her waist, pulling her to his side to steady her footing. His speedy impulse surprised all of them. Hunter’s hand reluctantly lowered at the realization that Tech handled it with lightning speed, likely because he was occupied with watching Rivqah’s steps as Nova counted- testing how accurate the droid’s prediction could be. Tech’s hand lingered on her hip for a moment before stepping to the side to give her space as he fixes his goggles.
“Thank you,” Rivqah keeps a hand on his shoulder as she fans herself off with a laugh, a blush of what might be embarrassment or having been momentarily held by a soldier. She planted a grateful pat on Tech’s shoulder, composing herself.
“It is no problem,” Tech says as he assesed her, staring at the redness growing on her chest just as it did last night over dinner. When he realized it may appear he’s staring at her breasts, he averted his gaze forward.
“I told you,” Nova said flatly as he floated back toward her shoulder.
“You okay?” Hunter’s worried voice broke through her soft pants, looking to her ankles to make sure she didn’t scrape anything.
Rivqah looks over herself as she replies with a laugh, “Yes, I’m alright, just surprised.”
A sudden growl interrupts the exchange and Wrecker grunts, "Alright, that was my stomach. I need food.”
“Rivqah will require a short break-“ Nova begins.
“Yeah, I’m on it.” Wrecker waves the droid away and leans down, placing a hand on her back and wrapping his arm around the backside of her knees before lifting her up to his chest quickly.
Rivqah gasps again, white knuckling an edge of his armor at his collar, “Wrecker, you’ll drop me!”
“No way,” he laughs as he continues down the steps, the rest of the group following close behind as they exchange looks of amusement that Wrecker is choosing to show off his strength after Tech’s swift rescue.
After a moment, her grip on his armor loosens. She knew his build could stand to carry her, but the fear of him deciding to drop her lingered, preventing her from completely relaxing. She didn’t notice how Wrecker held her like a delicate flower, or the way Hunter stared at her bare legs as they hung over the side of Wrecker’s strong arm. Nervously, she gave a slight wave to a couple passing up the stairs from the opposite direction.
“Why don’t you carry me like that?” The woman said with feigned jealousy to her partner, laughingt.
It felt like an eternity before they had finally found the bottom, and she wobbled when Wrecker planted her back down on steady ground. She fixed her hair and dress as she spoke. “That was an eventful journey.”
She waved them along, walking with more confidence in her stride now that it was flat stone they were trailing. The group passed through the center, looking around at the ancient architecture of the smaller stone buildings, wooden signs with symbols ranging from a mug to an axe burned into them. Ahead was a stand in front of a building, smoke rising from a grill. An old woman manned it, already greeting Rivqah with a loud call of morning greeting and a wide wave of a spatula.
“You’re early, today,” the elderly woman says with a lower tone as she slows to a stop in front of it. “Lucky I saw you from the stairs, though I might not have if Strong Arms here wasn’t holding you!” She laughs, pointing behind her to the grill to show that Rivqah’s food is on the grill, along with enough for the others. “My eyesight isn’t the same as it once was, but I couldn’t miss that!” She cackles as she flips the pocket sandwiches.
“This is Wrecker,” Rivqah says with a small smile, placing a hand on his chest plate for a moment before respectfully motioning to everyone else. “And this is Hunter, Echo, Tech, and Omega! Everyone, meet Sallah. She makes the best sandwiches.”
Rivqah places a hand on top of Omega’s head as she introduced her, leaning over to watch as the sandwiches are placed in individual napkins. Her mouth watered at the savory scent, and her stomach tightened with anticipation. Wrecker shared the feeling, taking in a large sniff. He nudged Echo with a wicked grin.
“I bet you’re feeling on top of the world with your clones finally here,” the woman passes Rivqah a sandwich first, then one to Wrecker, since he looked the most excited out of the rest, then so on. “You know how many hours she talked my ear off about all of you?”
Rivqah eagerly took a bite of her sandwich, chewing as she listened to the Sallah, swallowing hard and wiping sauce from her lips with furrowed brows. “What is it with everyone today spilling all my secrets?”
“Well, it’s only fair we know more about you, considering how much you knew about us before we met.” Hunter chuckles and takes a bite of the sandwich, giving an approving nod at its flavor. He watched Omega take a large bite of hers, reaching down to wipe sauce from her cheek.
“How many credits will this be?” Tech asks before taking a bite.
“Newbies,” Sallah rolled her eyes with a smile. “We don’t accept credits here. We accept smiles and the occasional barter, but for anyone who’s friends with Rivqah, no smile required.” She winked as she began cleaning her station.
When Tech gave Rivqah a look of uncertainty, she swallowed again to explain, “Parahdee is moneyless. We use droids for manual labor; most work here is done through passion alone. This sandwich isn’t just fuel, it’s art.”
Tech fixes his goggles as he studies the sandwich, turning it about. It doesn’t look like art. In fact, it looks rather plain. He takes a bite, feeling around for the flavor. Once he’s past the bread, flavor bursts in a way he’s not used to. He continued chewing, lost in thought as he tried to understand the economics of Parahdee, pausing his jaw when he noticed Rivqah’s stare.
“It is delicious.”
Rivqah giggled at Tech’s statement, then looks back to Sallah. She thanked the elderly woman and placed a hand on Omega’s back, guiding her away from the stand. “Let’s check out the school, they should be at recess about now!”
“What’s that?” She asked with a full mouth, looking back to the other clones as they closely followed, all of them too busy chewing to answer.
“You’ll see,” Rivqah said happily.
They were able to finish off their sandwiches during the short walk to the building Omeg and Rivqah gazed out at the night before. It looked much larger up close. Rivqah discarded her napkin at a trash bin at the side of the stone path, the others following by example. When they reached the building, they wrapped around to the playground.
“Ms. Rivqah!” A little girl shouted from the top of the slide, prompting others to look toward the open section of the tall fence that allows entry and exit. She slides down in a hurry, desperately trying to beat the other children who have begun racing their way toward the group.
Rivqah steps forward, kneeling down to be eye level with the tiny beings. She laughs as the group of small children attempts to tackle her with hugs, “How are my little brats doing?”
“Ms. Rivqah! Ms. Rivqah! I lost a tooth!” A boy opens his mouth wide to show off the lack of a front tooth that she’s peeled from their embrace.
“Wow!” Rivqah exclaimed in a tone fit for a young child, eyes wide as she looked over the blank space in his mouth.
A little girl with a harsh stutter begins to speak. It takes her a moment to get through her sentence, but when she does, Rivqah responds as though she didn’t notice. For a few moments, it went like this: the handful of children, excited to give her breaking news of what being a kid is all about right now, and patient woman warmly accepting it all.
Hunter kept her eyes on Rivqah closely, his chest tightening with a feeling he couldn’t possibly come to name in this moment. Her giggles rang like bells in his ears, and the smile creases formed on her face looked more genuine than anything he’d ever witnessed. He felt more certain with his previous thought process from the night before. Rivqah would make a great role model for Omega. His attention span faltered when a young girl pointed to him.
Rivqah looks over her shoulder as she stands. “These are my new friends. Guys, I’d like you to meet Omega,” she smiles reassuringly as she gently guides Omega over to her side with a soft touch at the child’s shoulder.
“Hi,” Omega greets with a nervous smile. The children range in age, a couple of them about her age, some much younger.
“You wanna play with us?” One of them asked eagerly, bouncing on his feet.
Omega quickly turned her head to look for Hunter’s approval. When he gave a small nod, she didn’t hesitate to run off with the group of kids, following as they led her back to the slide.
The grown men studied Rivqah as she crossed an arm over her chest, the other arm moving so she could rest her elbow in the hand that gripped her own waist. She lightly pinched her lower lip, rubbing it as she watched the children play. She was silent and wistful. It reminded them of Maeve, when she told them she volunteers to welcome people to Parahdee.
“Fresh meat, then?” A woman chuckled as she approached, effectively breaking all of their focus on watching the children play.
“Mrs. Gajino,” Rivqah greeted as her arms relaxed at her sides. “I’d like you to meet my new friends!”

I want to get married!’ ‘u still have a rat tail’
