pairing: Jamil/Vil/Idia/Malleus x Spider-woman!Reader + other housewardens
Itās no secret that you have to be strong and powerful in order to take on all the overblots, let alone the first one. It took everyone by surprise the first time you defeated one. Especially since you had no magic or powersā¦that they know of at least.Ā
It had been weeks since the last overblot. Everything seemed to be going smoothly for you and the school. Despite all the fights and close calls, you havenāt gotten caught yet. It was a relief. Honestly, you thought people would be more suspicious about you now. Sure, some people have come up to you and tried to figure out your secret. Some have even tried to stalk you and find out what it was (we all know who). Except, no one has figured it out yet. Maybe thatās why you felt safe in using one of your webs to grab something. No one was around, so it was safe to do so. Well, that was until you were aware of the person behind you.Ā
āPlease tell me that was not a spider web that just came out of your wrists,ā Jamilās voice spoke up from behind you. You whipped around in fear, only to see Jamil more freaked out than you are. He stood rigid in the doorway as he glared at the webs connecting your wrist and the book like it personally offended him. āPlease tell me itās a fishing string, or something.ā
āJamil! I can explain,ā you urged as you took a step toward him. Only for him to take a step back as he finally looked away from the transparent web and back to you. āItās not what it looks like.ā
āIt isn't? Then please explain it to me,ā he asked as he attempted to keep his voice smooth but the slight tremble in it was noticeable. He noticed the pleading look in your eyes and sighed as he looked around. The alchemy classroom was empty for the most part. Class had just ended for the first year and he had only come to get a special herb for tonight's dinner. Quietly, he turned and closed the classroom door behind him before turning to you. āWell? Are you going to explain or should I get it out of you another way?ā
āPlease donāt,ā you muttered before sighing. You gently placed the textbook down on the desk next to you before raising your hands. The small string of web that connected you to the textbook fell softly to the ground. āSee? No harm done.ā
Jamil sighed as he eyed the web that was now on the floor. Looking back up at you, his glare slowly morphed into more of an expression of confusion. āSo what was that? Some kind of potion you drank in Professor Crewelās class? I donāt quite remember learning anything of the sortsā¦ā
āIt wasnāt a potion. It was,ā you sighed as you trailed off. Looking down at the floor in order to avoid his intense stare. You had hoped to keep it a secret for a bit longer, at least until the school year ended. āLook, if I explain it to you will you promise not to tell anyone?āĀ
Jamilās brow furrowed as he eyed your hesitant stance. The silence filled the gap between the two of you for a bit before he finally sighed. Nodding, his gaze softened as he took half a step forward in hopes to decrease the tension. āFine, you have my word.ā
Looking back up at him, you saw the determined yet hesitant look in his eyes. You stood up straight before nodding and raised your wrists back up a bit. āBack home I got bit by a spider and,ā you spoke as you looked down at your wrists. Slowly, you looked back up but paused in your explanation, āJamil why are you across the classroom now?ā
As soon as you had mentioned the spider Jamil had disappeared to the corner of the classroom. His stance was completely tense and a disposable mask had appeared on his face. His glare pierced into you more intensely than it had originally during his overblot. āSpider,ā he repeated those words like venom. Subtly, he leaned further back into the corner to keep some distance between the two of you. āAnd now youāre half spiderā¦ā
āNo,ā you sighed as you took a step forward. āJamil look-ā he quickly leaned further back as his glare intensedified. Stopping, you sighed quietly as you stood in place. Raising your hands back up to show that you meant no harm to him, though he wasnāt buying it. āIām not half spider. Iām still completely humanā¦I think?ā
āYou think,ā he spat back with a look that could kill. Slowly, he started to move towards the classroom door again without ever moving from the wall. He stuck so close to it he practically cleaned it with his jacket. Reaching around for the doorknob aimlessly, he never once looked away from you. āIāll keep your secret safeā¦just maybe get a DNA test now.ā
āJamil,ā you stepped forward only to watch him bolt out the classroom. āSeriouslyā¦ā
āHow peculiar,ā Vil spoke up from behind you. Despite the intense situation for you he seemed completely unbothered by it, intrigued even. The only sound that filled the silence was the click of his heels against the floor as he approached you. Without warning, he grabbed the hand you used to shoot the web and inspected your wrist. āInteresting, there seems to be no apparent hole for where the strings come out.ā
āYouāreā¦taking this surprisingly well,ā you muttered as you looked at him.Ā
He only seemed to find your comment amusing, laughing quietly at it. He let go of your wrist only to pick up the book and inspect the web that was still semi-attached to it. āIāll admit I did react the first time I heard about it. Seeing it in person though,ā he glanced at you before smirking. āRookās description gave you no justice.ā
āOf course he knew,ā you sighed as you turned away from him. Staring down at the desk where you had originally left the book. This whole time you thought you were keeping a good secret, that no one knew. Expect more people than you wanted to know. Itās no surprise that Rook had found out, even less of a surprise that he told Vil. The only thing that's bothering you is if they told more people.Ā
Vil looked at you and noticed your downcast gaze. His brows furrow ever so slightly as he notices the pained yet thoughtful expression on your face. Sighing softly, he placed the book down before grabbing your shoulder and turning you around. āI didnāt tell anyone if that's what you worried about,ā he reassured you as he tilted your head up with a hand under your chin. āI made sure that Rook didnāt either. The only people that know are us and him, that I know of at least.ā
His steady gaze did little to reassure you, if someone like Rook had noticed your secret without you telling there's no idea how many other people had known. Getting lost in thought, you hadnāt even noticed Vil inspecting your hands and arms again. It was only when he spoke up that you finally remembered where you were.Ā
āWhat have you used your webs for?ā He looked over your wrists, front and back. He inspected them quietly before looking back up to meet your questioning and thoughtful gaze. āOther than grabbing books when youāre lazy, I mean.ā
āWhatāoh,ā you quickly pulled your hands away as the reality of the situation hit you. Vil, probably the most charming and disciplined guy in the school, witnessed you being lazy and careless. Despite his curiosity you couldnāt help but be embarrassed at the realization. āBack home I used it to help people. But since no one knew of me hereā¦I thought I could live a normal life.ā
āA normal life,ā he repeated quietly. Raising his hand to his chin as he put on a thinking look. Out of all the people in the school, he probably understood the most about having a normal life and responsibilities. āI certainly understand the appeal, but helping people? You still do that here.ā
āThat's,ā you tensed up. His words hit harder than theyāre meant to. Sure, you helped people here, some could say you were a hero. Except, itās completely different from when you were spider-woman back home. Right? āDifferentā¦I fought bad guys back home. I was just helping people hereā¦ā
Vil crossed his arms as he looked at you judgmentally. Never had he thought he would meet someone trying to downplay their actions and ability to help people, especially giving it up for some normality. āI suppose there's a difference but you have to be kidding?ā He sighed as he looked down at you. The two of you stood in silence for a few moments before he gave up on convincing you, there was no hope with you being so stubborn. āFine, if that's how you want to put it.ā
You nodded and followed him as he guided you out of the classroom with a hand on your back. The two of you walked for a bit before he suddenly spoke up, āso you canāt use that silk for clothes making?ā
āWhat,ā Idiaās timid voice spoke up from behind you. His hooded figure standing in the middle of the doorway pointing at you like a cartoon character. His eyes wide and jaw dropped at seeing you use your webs. He took a quick few steps forward and closed the distance as if he caught you in the act of committing a crime.Ā
āIdia,ā you quickly said. Throwing your hands into the air so fast that you dropped the book to the floor. Despite his lack of confidence and overall social abilities, you felt completely nervous now in his presence. āI can explaināā
āYouāre like a real life superhero,ā he exclaimed as his whole body started to tremble in excitement.Ā
āWhat,ā you suddenly froze. Slowly lowering your hands, you looked at him as if he was crazy. A superhero? Sure, you were used to being called that back home but hearing it here made it sound completely foreign. Out of all the reactions you expected to receive from him, this was certainly the last one. āA superhero? Me? You got it all wrong, Iām notāā
Idia cut you off as he suddenly grabbed your hands. He inspected your wrists to see if there was anything that could have been the source of the webs he just saw. āHowād you do it? Was it technology? Do you have superpowers? Did you get them or were you born with them? Can you do anything else? Can you show me it again? Can youā,ā he rambled on at the speed of light. Asking you question after question, never giving you a chance to properly answer him. He continued to nerd out with the biggest smile on his face as if this was the best thing that ever happened to him since he figured out how to never get bad wifi. He continued to speak when he suddenly realized he was nerding out. His questions abruptly stopped as his hair turned pink at the ends.Ā
āIdia,ā you said softly. Leaning down a bit to get a good look at his hooded face that was being covered by his hair. You slowly reached your hand out to him to shake his shoulder when he suddenly jumped. He practically jumped fifteen feet in the air before backing up and apologizing profusely.Ā
āIām so sorry,ā he suddenly yelled as he backed up quickly. Waving his hands in front of his face repeatedly in hopes to create some distance between the two of you. āJeez, what was I thinking? This is what I get for going outside for once. This is a total side character moment! I wished this was a game so I could reset and redo this whole story againāā
āIdia,ā you suddenly cut him off. You held his face in both of your hands, much to his surprise. His hair burned a brighter pink as he started to stammer and tremble again. You only responded by holding his face tighter, squishing his cheeks a bit between your fingers. āStop the rambling, it's freaking me out.ā
āI,ā he started out before you interrupted him.Ā
āNo,ā you quickly cut him off as you squished his cheeks more. āYes, I am like a superhero but only back home. No, I wasnāt born with my powers. I got them after I got bit by a spider. Yes, I can do other things like climb on walls. No, I won't show you again.ā
The two of you stared at each other in silence. His cheeks and hair burned a bright pink as he stood there in embarrassment. Meanwhile, you stared at him with a serious yet annoyed look. The tension seemed to calm down for a bit before he suddenly spoke up meekly, āso you canāt show me again?ā
āHow interesting,ā Malleusās low voice spoke up from behind you. His tall form filled up the doorway almost completely as he stood there with a hand under his chin. He stared down at you with a thoughtful expression, as if you hadnāt just used a web to grab a book from across the classroom. āI never knew someone could possess this ability. Can all humans do that?ā
āWhat,ā you turned around quickly and looked up at him in shock as he approached. You were completely baffled that he could think this was normal. You slowly backed up against the desk as he approached, unintentionally cornering you there. āItās not normal and I have no idea if anyone else can do itā¦ā
āReally,ā he asked in that same stoic yet curious tone. His striking green eyes peered down at you as he studied your expression. He seemed to be lost in thought with his tilted slightly to the side. āHow unfortunate,ā he muttered to himself before smiling down at you. āSeems you prove to be even more unique and interesting.ā
āThankā¦you,ā you muttered questioningly before nodding slowly. Despite the revelation he seemed to be taking the news quite well. Which seemed normal considering how different and magical his home seemed to be. Awkwardly clearing your throat, you looked to the side before standing up straighter. āPromise you wonāt tell anyoneā¦please?ā
Your words seemed to catch him off guard. Eyes wide and completely silent as he looked down at you in shock. Asking him to not tell anyone about your secret? Thatās one way to become indebted to a fae, and not in a good way. āA secret?ā He mused as he looked down at you with a growing smile, āand what do I get in return?ā
You practically snapped your head back toward him as the situation hit you. Seems all the lessons he taught you in passing about fae culture skipped your mind. Sighing quietly, you furrowed your brows as you looked up at him. āIāll invite you to every game night at ramshackle," you started. āOnly for as long as you keep the secret though.ā
His smile only grew at your clarification. A small, amused laugh escaped him as he crossed his arms. āHow interesting,ā he said happily. āHow very interesting indeed. Fine, Iāll keep your āsecretā safe for now. Now tell me, when is the next game night you and your little group are having?ā
Sighing, you looked up at him in defeat. You crossed your arms and mirrored his stance as you calculated the possibilities of him outing you. Surely he wouldnāt, but thatās what you thought in the past and the outcome wasnāt as ideal. āThis Friday after school. Bring some snacks if you can, and perhaps convince Sebek to come as well.ā
His expression seemed to falter at the mention of his personal guard. Though, he shouldnāt be too surprised considering how often you and the first years drag him into your guys hangouts. Slowly, he recovered and gave you that same smug yet charming smile he always seemed to have. āVery well, Iāll be looking forward to this game night you refer too. Until then, my lips are sealed.ā He confirmed before turning and walking away.
Letting out a small sigh of relief, you slumped back against the desk behind you. āWaitā¦āfor nowā?ā
