deriding things as performative is anti third space
im sitting on a patio at my favorite cafe rn and im hand stitching them hem of a dress im working on. and i can see why someone would say im being performative by working on something like this in a public space. but frankly theres no element of that. i just want to work somewhere that isnt my apartment. i want to be in public, i wanna chat with strangers, i wanna see the world. it’s nice to hang out somewhere that isnt my home!
what i mean is when you say people are being performative you discourage them from doing shit they love in public. and thats no way to foster the world we want to see.

Strange haunted photo where Winifred looks like she's a painting
I have placed her in a more fitting setting
For the first time in my tenure on tumblr, it's "THAT'S A PHOTOGRAPH?" and not "THAT'S AN OIL PAINTING?"
You ever hear that old chestnut about how most people neglect the part of the story of Icarus where he also had to avoid flying too low, lest the spray of the sea soak his feathers and cause him to fall and drown? You ever think about how different the world would be if Icarus died that way instead? If the idiom was to Fly To Close To The Sea? A warning against playing it far too safe, about not stretching your wings and soaring properly? You ever think about how Icarus died because he was happy?

Buzz Aldrin punching a moon landing denier in the face at the age of 72. Lol.
This video has been almost completely scrubbed off the internet because the loser who got decked keeps suing everyone. Luckily for you guys EYE have a copy of the video! :)
In honor of the Artemis 2 launch!!! Suck it crazies in the chat yelling about how NASA is using AI!!!
"you're a coward and a liar" it wasn't that long ago a man could be shot or stabbed with a sword for saying that to another man and nobody would think the man defending his honor had done anything wrong.
Also, Mr. Aldrin had an active military career before his astronaut days and i'd say he hasn't forgotten how to throw a damn good punch -- just look at his wide stance
10/10 well-deserved punch
additional info
at the time, Aldrin was 72 years old, 6 foot 2 inches, and 250 pounds. Sibel (the man he punched) was 37 years old
Sibel has made multiple "documentaries" about the moon landing being fake and has repeatedly harassed the astronauts involved, in this instance getting Aldrin to agree to the above meeting by pretending to be doing an interview on space for a Japanese children's television show
Buzz Aldrin's step-daughter was present, and in addition to being poked repeatedly and aggressively with a bible (Sibrel wanted him to swear on a bible that he went to the moon) Aldrin felt the man following them into the hotel refusing to leave them alone might pose a threat to her
charges against Aldrin were either dropped or never filed, based on Aldrin's lack of a prior criminal record, witness accounts of Sibrel's having drawn Aldrin to the hotel under false pretenses, Sibrel's aggressiveness before the punch, and Sibrel having declined to seek medical attention and sustaining no obvious injury visible to witnesses during the incident
having a headache while hydrated is so unfair. you were supposed to protect me.
human pov following objects 😭
Oh easy mistake. Yearning actually rises from the floor and longing hangs from the ceiling
oh this phrase is not going to leave my mind for a solid week at least. obsessed with this collection of words

birds have secret bones we're not allowed to know about
thinking about diatoms again
microscopic living stars made of glass that eat the sun. and they're all around us. in every body of water. glass sun-eating stars.
I like them a lot. they produce up to half of all earth's oxygen. the air you breathe is thanks to sun-eating stars made of glass. and that's pretty cool.
and you know. like oblongs and triangles and some other bullshit
day one after changing sheets: ok im gonna kick my bad habits i won't eat in bed or leave knives or scissors or lighters in bed I'll have only normal bed things in my bed and I'll change the sheets more often too
day two after changing sheets: oh yeah this half eaten bundt cake is sleeping with me tonight
Take a moment from your busy day to relax and observe all the ways to pester a peahen, at her insistence.
For the birds that like pets, do beak rubs tend to be their favorite? They seem to ask for more pretty consistently
Yep! They like break rubs best, followed by jaw rubs under the jaw, followed by gentle neck rubs where their head is in my hand and my thumb goes over and over the spot behind their jaw/ear. They also enjoy a finger stroking over the top of their heads (especially if their jaw is resting on my hand), and having their little head held like a stick shift (like being tucked into their wing to sleep I guess, because they'll fall asleep like that if they're already sitting down). They don't seem to mind the neck pets where I circle my fingers around their neck and stroke down (but they also don't particularly ask for it), and Bug likes her saddle pet (rapidly and harder than you'd expect, more like you're trying to brush something off her that's a little stuck on...I don't know why she's like that), but none of them really like anything past about mid back to be touched. Some of them have liked feet rubs (Princess is going to be like that, maybe Dragon too, but Bug and Mantis are Not).
This is, I think, tragic for them all. Visitors who want to pet them rarely want to put fingers too close to beaks, so they just end up mildly annoying the birds trying to pet them on the back like a cat or dog. I regret to inform you that peafowl have no bones and their necks are very long, it doesn't matter where you pet them... If they want to bite you, they will. The birds WANT you to pester them in the face, that is counterintuitively where you are least likely to get a hard bite. They show affection through face and neck preening. But I cannot convince anyone to pet them in the face like they want.
