awww the like button turns into a rainbow when you press it! that's so cute...hey staff what's with all the trans women you keep nuking?
i think we should be ridiculing them more for this. you don't get to try and go all "queer website" when your staff likes to go on nuking sprees targeting the trans fem users
would be remiss not to mention that the rainbow notably straight up just removed the trans flag colors from it. like they’re gone. it’s the progress flag minus the trans flag colors.
that’s not the whole flag, now is it
hey staff what the fuck
hey staff don't you think you're being too on-the-nose

“Because the truth is, tech doesn’t have an image problem. It doesn’t have a message problem. It has an intention problem. What’s wrong with the axe murderer who broke into my house is not that he hasn’t successfully persuaded me to buy into his narrative. What’s wrong is that he’s trying to kill me with an axe. Similarly, when you launch a product that’s designed to put millions of people out of work, block access to sources of verifiable truth, replace human creativity with slop, and lower the barriers to every sort of atrocity, the problem isn’t that you haven’t told the public a good story about those things. The problem is that you are trying to do them.”

Bilbo loves maps, but he finds Dwarven tactical maps incredibly difficult to read because they focus strictly on minerals, defensive walls, and underground water veins. To help him understand the mountain, Thorin takes a giant sheet of parchment and personally draws a simplified map of the royal quarters for Bilbo. However, Thorin fills it with deeply personal notes. Next to the library, he writes: "Where Master Baggins hides when he is cross with me." Next to the eastern balcony: "Best view of the sunrise, though the Hobbit is usually asleep." And next to the royal bedchamber, he simply carves the rune for "Home"
Name as many Shakespeare plays as you can. Feel free to write them down and check your answers but not to cheat. How many can you name?

Look I like... I do (kind of) understand the appeal of ReShirement AUs, but they nevertheless always make my brain go wibbly in a really weird way bc ReShirement is sooooo... fundamentally against everything I feel strongly about for Thorin Oakenshield
having rewatched Five Armies since I made this post, I reiterate: I get the emotional/romantic appeal of reShirement, more or less, but hhhhhh it is very much not my idea of an uncomplicated happy ending, I can far more easily see an arc for Bilbo about making a new home in Erebor than I can see Thorin leaving behind everything he's worked for
while I think regular bagginshield would never part from one another the moment they begin courting, modern au bagginshield has the messiest breakup ever at least once and it becomes everyone's problem. very clearly still in love with one another and pining and subtweeting and soft blocking and posting story reply bait!! sending each other gifts on their birthdays and showing up at each other's houses in the rain and just AHHHHHH
I'm still thinking about this.
Bilbo who insists he isn't all that into social media- and yet when Thorin and him get into a spat and 'go on a break' he's suddenly always posting. New story about what he's reading and which coffee shop he's at- maybe one of those question boxes asking people to tell him what they are currently reading. The cute little latte art his barista makes him. He's reposting photos his friends are tagging him in to show he goes out and does things. Tweeting random thoughts and then retweeting posts that are definitely not about Thorin and him. Spending an hour scrolling tumblr reblogging cheesy black and white gifs of people hugging or cuddling because he's lonely and won't admit it beyond a simple tag saying #wish that was us.
Thorin who sends flowers to Bilbo on his birthday. Mails the gift he had bought because he truly wanted Bilbo to have it. Sends him flowers when he posts about getting promoted at work, flowers on Valentine's day, flowers on what would have been their anniversary. He has notifications turned on for only Bilbo so he misses nothing. He can't help it, can't help taking in any bit of Bilbo he can despite how it makes his heart ache and how all it does is make him miss him more.
They probably don't see each other face to face for weeks. The weeks which felt like months. Neither one of them even tried to see anyone else- Dwalin thought Thorin would punch him when he suggested being a wing man. But then there's Bofur's birthday party. They have to go. They each know the other will be there. They have to go.
And when they see each other, its like magnets just passing that threshold of space and they are pulled together again. Stepping outside under the guise that Thorin wanted to smoke. People are peeking through the window, expecting an explosion, a fight. Within minutes they are hugging. As if their separation hadn't been self imposed!
Bofur cheerily raises his glass in toast. "Best birthday gift they could give me, right there. Now I don't have to listen to them both mope!"
Thorin doing stereotypical uncle/parent things with the boys. Thorin freaking out when Fili or Kili climbs a tree or does anything remotely reckless. Thorin stealing a bite of the boys food as an “uncle tax.” Thorin still reading the boys bedtime stories even though they are adults. Thorin smiling to himself anytime the boys do anything because those are his boys. Thorin fixing the boys blankets at night when he’s on watch duty, making sure they are the most comfortable the environment will let them be.
Thorin not eating until he knows the boys stomachs are full, because he never wants them to know painful hunger. Thorin not sleeping until he knows where the boys are. Thorin refusing to let either of the boys take first watch because he can’t rest easy unless he knows they are sound asleep in their own beds, a habit that persisted from when they were little. Thorin never taking his eyes off them in battle, to the point he sustains injuries he easily could’ve avoided, so that 1. He doesn’t lose them and 2. Neither of them have to feel the guilt of losing a brother like he has.
Thorin pleading with the orcs not to kill his boys when all he can do is watch them get sliced to bits. Thorin refusing to care about his own health, ignoring anything doctors say, so that he and the boys can recover in the same tent. Thorin holding their hands as they writhe in pain from the poison in their veins, assuring them that it will all come to pass. Thorin getting help from the boys as he learns to walk again after losing his foot. Thorin being the proudest King in the history of his bloodline, because he knows his heirs are the best there ever was.

I’m still taking a break from drawing for mental health reasons, so it was a delight to check my inbox and see @hattedhedgehog had finished my Boffins commission! Thank you so much!
