Your outstretched fingers could never find purpose Too busy converting into imitation guns and pointing at an unimpressed sky Frowning at your lack of direction #micropoety

Simmering
Lipstick stains on abandoned coffee cups;
Steamy arguments ascend through ceilings
Boiling.
Bubbling.
Blanket statements cuff collars tight enough to strangle
Sentences; untied laces waiting to trip
Till I fall out of love with how you make me feel.
Scuffed knees and twisted ankles on roads we said we’d walk together
Injured, can’t keep up with the pretense of staged photos,
snapshots of broken promises, memory lanes polluted with sewerage
Opposites attract incompatability
How could we not notice the shreds of our individual needs scattered in empty vodka bottles re labelled compromise? Drunk in lust
Half closed eyes made you look better, must be dim light
Bloody knuckles
shattered lenses
We deal with pain differently.
Second Hand Box
I belonged in a second hand box
frayed at the edges
dented with the hands of many men
many memories
wrinkled with age and use
creased lines underline mishandling of precious goods
labelled in bold naive print
Please do not bend
They folded me
in positions that disfigured my innocence
forcibly posted into envelopes that sent my soul to destinations of misery
holes filled with fury
special deliveries received by strangers claiming temporary ownership due to curiosity
Unstuck. Misshapen. Opened. Used.
Purity torn by the ripping of paper thin skin
contents scattered over stained sheets
They hurt me.
strip searched for internal probing
eyes closed.
Lower regions burning.
Lonely.
#SyriaVote
Gift wrapped bombs distributed on the roofs of innocents Labelled terrorists War against an ideology with no fixed location Hear the screams of blood splattered voice boxes trapped under rubble you sent First class First world Murderers
Returning to safety While mums wrap babies in flammable fabrics Soothing eyes that will burn out tonight Goodnight kisses Sincere prayers Death is the final sleep
Less of me
do your kisses still taste like second place? Last season's hugs draped around my shoulders while pedestrians laugh at my expired fashion statement That always seemed to scream inadequacy. I wore your charity shop compliments, never noticing they stunk of past relationships vain repetitions. Donations intended for the less fortunate Frayed at the edges A few sizes too small; I squeezed myself into your expectations while my soul scribbled suicide notes on the seams wanting you to want me while you wanted less of me I became less of me.

Ashes to Ashes
Ashes of self worth Preserved In a fancy urn dressed in butterflies A cute package for death Curves carved in ornamental designs Trapping my remains Growing stale On the inside. Scattering my existence in notebooks Embers of pain Trees sacrificed for pride Charcoal stains made with blunt pencils for strangers to admire A shrine of sooty words No one listened to When I spoke. A eulogy pronounced to empty pews Here lies self confidence.
Sown on the concrete, thrown on stony ground; seeds searching for the cracks between pavement slabs
desperate for fertile ground. A discarded book, pages stained and well thumbed through, ripped, pages
missing. Unidentifable author. Can you accurately judge a book without a cover? Flung in...
My piece featured ;)
My spoken word response to Fergurson.
Eggs
Wrapped in a blanket of excuses you left for me scattered around our love nest Once a haven for our egg shaped dreams, futuristic bubbles I sheltered patiently Waiting for the blessed hatching Now empty Except for the broken shells and yolk coloured splashes of destruction that in another life people would call art. Smashed cages Discarded dreams and traces of hatred And you are nowhere to be seen.
Commute
Buttocks firmly pressed against foreign familiarity Spread legs Crossed Posterior planted in public places Strangers interlocked in mental sprints for empty seats Satisfaction contrasts standing frustration Daily commute Heads bowed in silent prayer to technology Thumbs scroll for momentary doses of entertainment or skipped tracks, head bobbing, restricted skanking to shuffled musical therapy Toes accidentally crushed in the foot stomping Barges, groans, Move down please Shoves baby on board badge holder as priority seats are occupied by greedy passengers who lack empathy At what other time could we recreate the exact location of people present on a train Delayed Phone calls die Signal failure Eye contact only occurs to confirm they too witnessed the racial harrassment spewing from that bald guys lips Observed quietly by smart phones desperate for world star recognition Not interfering except to catch a better angle Perspective Prioritises personal gain over morality Community dies on the commute
DIY
Walls secure my possessions Stones chipped to a particular fit Protecting my treasures from piracy attempts Shutting out the cold Keep Out plastered on every external wall No trespassing I felt safe Till you bulldozed my defences while I was sleeping Now ur squatting in my heart And there's a gaping hole in my structure If you're staying You need to fix that...
Day three
Recollections Eyes cast backwards, walking in reverse Historical events retold in humorous anecdotes, overtaken by sorrow, each step fuels memories Voices raised in spoken photo albums of a life's journey Transitions Exclamations, audience pulled closer to the core of the speaker Travelling alongside the flip pages of time Witnessed through the perspective lens of the narrators eye Emotions. Reflections. Blank canvas splashed with interwoven colours that cannot fit into the lines Artistic representation I see your world in my imagination Captivated by auto biographies Everybody has a story
Day two
Clouds in my head Stormy forecast of mixed emotions Weighty with ignorant idolatrous versions of personal perspectives and rebellious responses to random enquiries Thunderous grey Formed against the contrary thoughts of my internal processes Life is never black and white These clouds A warning of the venomous outpour about to spill from my mouth Threatening hail Stones to break your bones because my words were made to hurt you Belittling your existence with dictionary definitions and encyclopaedic explanations why your opinion is whack Drench your soul in fury Till your soaked with the message And stop asking me Unnecessary questions
Poetry Month Day 1
Balaclava clad terrors overwhelm my ability to manoeuvre through life This limp is not a gangster attempt to fit in My feet drag Coz my limbs are tied Transparent chains Struggling against restrictions no one else can see Chokehold swallowing my screams into a smile, kidnappers cause me to fake reality publicly Black tape enforces shadows of speech Tongue tied Forced silence
These blacked out gangsters are my employees, responding to the task I had briefed them on, earning their wages in torment This is what I wanted Taunted in cages I built for this purpose The truth shall never be free
I’m a hostage
To my secrets
Grace (A poem dedicated to my wife...)
She…swam so gracefully And effortlessly left a trail Behind her. I could never Seem to erase her from my Memory. The ripples of her existence Blurs all she touches and makes Her the focal point of my memories. She shed her feathers for a more Modest light brown canvas That suits her so beautifully.
