âWho has never killed an hour?â
â Mark Z. Danielewski, House of Leaves
Fake poster meme: Walter.
â Hugh Dancy, Lee Pace & Rinko Kikuchi.
Sci-Fi Drama âș In the year 2134, androids have been developed. Electrodite Systems, a corporation specialising in technology, is advertising androids as âhumanâs best friendâ and selling them to those in need of companionship. Martin (Lee Pace), bought Walter (Hugh Dancy) a few years ago when he was lonely and living by himself. The two developed a close relationship until one night when Martin doesnât return from work. Walter discovers that his friend was mugged and murdered during the walk home.
Should anything happen to their owner, androids are sent back to Electrodite and their memories erased so they can be resold. However when Walter is set to be reprogrammed, he meets technician Shiori (Rinko Kikuchi). He tells her that he does not wish to forget about Martin. Surprised and touched by the androidâs apparent humanity, Shiori âstealsâ Walter in order to learn just how human a robot can become.
The images of these wounds hung in the gallery of his mind, like exhibits in the museum of a slaughterhouse. The human organism is an atrocity exhibition at which he is an unwilling spectator .Â
