i will say if (redacted) happens with moiraine this season, it’s good to know that they aren’t following the books when it comes to how she handles it with lan. because if i recall, she didn’t tell lan what happened in the rings and just kinda left him in the dark until *it* happened which harmed him and they barely spoke when she came back. i think they are avoiding that after a. the cold shoulder / platonic breakup they had last season and b. by her telling him what she saw in the rings. i just wonder if that will change his storyline later when it comes to bonding.

in a perfect world, they will be fine and will have a very sweet reunion after siuan and mat save mo from the finn.

Moiraine’s book treatment of Lan was unapologetically Machiavellian. People love to dunk on Myrelle, but Moiraine made that arrangement with a clear understanding of how it would play out. She’s just as culpable, though it speaks to the lengths she was willing to go to ‘save’ him. There are very few people for whom she would have made such effort.

The softer show version of events seems more palatable, at least thus far. But folks need to let go of their eternal emotional support Warder expectations. Lan has his own arc; he needs to be set free one way or another in order to fulfill it. Nynaeve gives him that agency in the books, and her ceding control in that way is as important to her arc as it is to his. Light willing, Rafe & co. don’t take that from them.

I know Lan is a man of honor — yet he would kill Rand without hesitation, even if it doomed their world to chaos, if that’s what it took to keep Moiraine. The cruel irony? She would despise him for it. For choosing her over the Dragon Reborn, for loving her more than duty. And Lan would say: "I would wage war against the Dark itself for all eternity, if it meant you remained at my side."

zoë robins ACTED in that scene with moghedien. i'm generally a fan of how she manages to convey the layers of nynaeve through expression and this was a huge showing of that, i feel. she was taken over completely by the compulsion at first but when it starts to crack and she's beginning to break through, the combination of her smile and the slowly dawning horror in her eyes is just so delicious.

Moiraine goes through the Redstone doorway and doesn't die, but the Warder Bond with Lan is severed. There are a few possibilities for why that might be:

Transporting to another dimension severs the bond -> this one doesn't hold up because when she went through the first doorway, nothing happened.

The destruction of the doorway affected the bond -> this one doesn't make much more sense, because what possible mechanism would accomplish that? She can still channel, so there's no reason for the bond to be severed.

Which leaves me with

Moiraine used one of her requests with the Finn to sever the bond.

Except that would imply that the bond is permanent, and Elyas suggested that Aes Sedai could release the bond. So that's weird. Unless she's such a control freak that she'd rather Lan go ballistic and suicidal, but be compelled to go to Myrelle, instead of being a normal amount of grief-stricken and being free to run off to finish his personal war in the Blight.
