Hello (-^u^-) My name is Christine (Though you might know me by my online username, Poppun) and I finally have a tumblr account, which is mostly going to be used as a place for my favourite things and some of the drawings I make. I hope you enjoy them

I just remembered I did these, a while back some behind the scenes stuff from Dead End Paranormal Park was shared that included the birthdays of the main human characters: Barney's is October 3rd (Libra), Norma is August 16th (Leo), Logs is January 2nd (We already knew he's a Capricorn), and Badyah's is May 20th (Taurus)

And honestly it was really neat, I really enjoy applying astrology to characters and trying to work out what zodiac sign they have when their birthdays aren't given. With Dead End you can work out a few more characters based on their birthdays either happening on-screen or being referenced:

Pugsley's likely a Virgo (He was a few weeks old when he met Barney, shortly before Barney's own birthday, so Pugsley would have been born in September or late August). Zagan was born under either Cancer or Leo (Birthday is celebrated in season 2, she could be a cusp sign), Patrick was definitely born under Cancer (his birthday is right before the Christmas in July episode), and Vince is a Leo (birthday is the month after Patrick's, curiously a Scorpio in the books with a Halloween birthday)

And of course I wanted to figure out Courtney's, the one major character with no hints at all, but looking at my astrology books I think I pinned Courtney down as a Sagittarius

I was out earlier today, it was cloudy so I wasn't expecting much

(Darn, da-doo)

But had been meaning to go to a store in the area anyway, so thought I may as well try

When I left the store it was still pretty cloudy, but I decided to wait in the parking lot and see if it cleared up in time

(Good for you)

When suddenly

(Da-doo)

And without warning, the clouds cleared, and there was this

♪Total eclipse of the sun♪

It got very dark, and there was this strange sound, like something from another world

(Da-doo)

And when the light came back, this weird plant was just sitting there

(Whoop-see-doo)

Just, you know, stuck in, among garden section And then in the vacant lot next door there was a huge circus tent

(Cirque da-doo)

I could have sworn neither had been there before But then this girl with pink hair stepped out of the tent and summoned another weird plant

And now both plants are sitting in front of the store gossiping, and the girl got annoyed and went back in the tent like this isn't the first time it's happened.

It's a little awkward, but I feel like it could have been a lot worse

Made a joke magical girl but now she's real oops.

It's the star of Kit's favorite magical girl show, Magical Fairy Dreamy Dripper, a shy mythical kelpie living among people who can magically transform water into anything with her magic umbrella.

Going off what you said, I decided to take a guess at colouring her in (^.^) The teal one looks more watery, but the purple looks more magical

It's been a while since I made one of these, but recently I revisited the series and finally had an idea that worked for it, here's my fan made cover for "Consequences":

So a fun little fact, I actually came to this series a little bit later, after the first few shorter stories had already finished and the main "Paradise is Where the Heart is" story was already well under way, but was still aware of the series from the original posts, with this and it's direct sequel "We are not alone" being the first ones I actually spotted.

Going by the titles alone, I had always gotten a slightly ominous feeling from them, particularly the latter, and thought they were two parts of a "Head quarters gets tired of a lack of results and sends a new team" story, with Paradise possibly being the aftermath of the new team failing too, so reading them was a surprise. But knowing the consequences the story was actually about, this feels like a good fit, with a bit of that original ominous feeling mixed into the foreshadowing for the end of the story

Happy second anniversary to Centaurworld! \(-^.^-)/ 

I first watched it about a month before season 2 released, just after the start of a string of difficult patches and often watched the show or listened to the songs to calm down (I have no idea how many times I’ve listened to “Breathe in a bag” and “Fragile Things, reprise”). Because of the series I’ve not only met some new friends, but also ventured into new types of projects, including a couple that are still in progress.

The quote actually comes from a convention panel I attended several years ago, to describe the dynamic of two characters, I don’t remember which series, but the quote has stayed with me all this time and feels like the perfect fit for the herd’s dynamic.

The lettering was especially fun to do and I loved figuring out ones that fit to each character, my favourites are probably Glendale’s looking like she got them from several sources (including the logo), and how Horse, Rider, and Stabby’s gradually go from angular with cold colours to softer and warmer.

Has anyone ever wondered about this book? The one mentioned in the after word of Tokyo Mew Mew volume 5? For a long time I had wondered about it, and the other night finally sat down and did a proper search for it, which lead to a deeper than expected....rabbit hole.

What's written here is the only information I had to go on: the publication date, the illustration, and that presumably it would still be in print. I expected that it was a book that was published exclusively in Japan and was unheard of in the west and that I might translate it. So I did a search in Japanese first for "rabbit dandelion picture book" and then just "rabbit picture book" and found a video with a reading of it; surprisingly with a western name for the author and that I didn't necessarily have to translate it.

It turns out the book Mia Ikumi remembered so fondly was a translation (Translated by Kyouko Matsuoka), released in Japan under the name "Shiroi usagi to kuroi usagi" (White rabbit & black rabbit) in 1965. It was first published in English under the title "The rabbits' wedding"; her place holder title is actually closer somehow, "usagi no kekkon" instead of "usagi no tanpopo"

The story is about 2 rabbits who spend their days playing in the forest, when one day the black rabbit becomes preoccupied, when the white rabbit asks him, he tells her that he wishes he could be together with her forever, she reciprocates and they're married wearing dandelions and joined by all the rabbits and other animals in the forest in celebrating. The book was banned in Alabama for a time since it was believed to be an allegory, and is praised for the same reason now; back in the day there was a whole mess about the director the Alabama Public Library service Division contesting the ban by only removing it from general circulation, while still allowing it to be available upon request. There was even a play about it staged in 2015.

Though ultimately there may not have been any message at all, in an interview author Garth Williams said that he chose the designs based on creating contrast and inspired by a water colour painting he'd seen of two horses.

If you're a fan of Tokyo Mew Mew or any of Mia Ikumi's other works, or just want to read a cute story about bunnies getting married I recommend looking it up, you can find videos of people reading both the English & Japanese versions online easily and it is really sweet. For anyone who is looking at this set but wary of decades old candy, those are stamps, the set is called Minky Momo Stereo Stamps, I presume the clear pieces attach to the little pegs on the back to act as a handle, there's an ink pad included

It looks like the cassette is a rolling stamp too, with the colour and image set changing depending on which way you run the stamp.

It is a really neat package

Sign the Petition

Save Deadend Paranormal Park

By now most of us have gotten the news that Deadend Paranormal Park has not been renewed for a third season, however, I believe that we can channel that disappointment and frustration into change. Please sign this petition and share it wherever you can, tag Netflix’s decision makers where possible to show support on a level they can’t ignore.

Re-watch what we already have if you can, if you can’t, watch the official clip uploads; boycotting is too imprecise, anything can be the cause and it only shows viewership dropping off after the cancellation announcement, which could further enforce the image of animated shows as disposable.

By creating a public show of support, and emphasizing what Netflix has to gain by overturning their decision, I believe we can succeed. Campaigning saved the original Star Trek series, it gave fans movies for both Invader Zim & Rocko’s Modern Life, resulted in Doctor Who being given another chance, and in two addition seasons of Sailor Moon’s original dub. Why not this too?

I actually understand Japanese well enough that just the blu-ray release met my goal of being able to watch the original (and equally importantly, that the series was digitally preserved), but wow, that's wonderful. I'm glad to see the series is getting more love
