"this is an inaccurate adaptation" okay but is it good "this didn't happen in the book" does it make sense in the context of the new work though "they totally changed the plot" and is the new one good or bad "it's completely different" not what I asked "they changed all the stuff I like" then I get why you wouldn't be into it but I'm asking about its own artistic merits "this character is meant to be blonde" I couldn't give less of a fuck
I love how Zohran Mamdani is wearing a suit everywhere. And if he has anything else he puts it ON TOP of the suit. A basketball jersey. A high-vis vest. All worn over the suit. Heās like the mayor character in a cartoon whoās always dressed as The Mayor. If I didnāt know who he was and he biked past me in NYC Iād be like holy shit was that the mayor

Idk something about people online believing they have any right to judge, much less actually judge the ākorean-nessā of seven adult men ā who were born and raised in South Korea, speak Korean as their first and everyday language, who look unambiguously korean, who went through and were formed by the south korean education system, who came up in the korean music scene, who live, work and own property in South Korea, who support and contribute financially to numerous charitable causes in South Korea, who have represented South Korea at an international level, have held actual diplomatic passports, four of whom are full members of the Korea Copyright Music Association, who have received more awards in SK for more categories and achievements than I can remember, who individually take time, effort and money to support other korean artists in a range if fields - it rubs me the wrong way.
As if the identity of BTS collectively and as individuals doesnāt matter nor count unless they perform korean-ness/foreign-ness/other-ness in a way that is easily recognisable, palatable and digestible for (white, anglophone) western sensibilities and can then be deemed āauthenticā by non korean commentators on the internet.
Which is I think the point of the album in a way. āArirangā isnāt a fundamentally Korean project because of its title, itās sound etc. Itās Korean because BTS themselves are completely, unapologetically, unavoidably Korean in and of themselves.

I just love how they include the kids in Abbott Elementary. yeah, sometimes itās just for a witty comment or two, but you have these glimpses of reality, of their lives beyond their roles as students. they have siblings in other classes. they appear in different teacherās rooms through the seasons and have different relationships with them. they have real problems that are acknowledged. they cause shit and act sweet and get frustrated and joke around and push back and grow. I just love how they make it feel like a school that does care about the kids. because itās not just a bunch of adults standing around talking about āfor the kidsā - you, the viewer, get to see the kids as the staff does - not as a mass group or an idea, but as dozens of individual people who develop right alongside our main cast of characters.
ABBOTT ELEMENTARY (2021- ) Season 5 | Episode 15 "Safety Day"
The stereotype of the nerd girl taking her glasses off and suddenly she's beautiful, but in reverse. A cold tough mean office lady who glares at everyone until she gets glasses and suddenly becomes sweet, approachable and friendly since she no longer has a constant headache over not being able to fucking see, doesn't need to squint at everything, and actually remembers individual people by name now that she can tell them apart at all.
