being a historian on tumblr is such a uniquely bizarre experience. almost everyone will believe what you say as long as you write an all-caps rant starting with something like “LISTEN UP YOU DUMB FUCKSHITS” but god help you if you attempt to factcheck a single statement or disagree with someone else’s opinion. it’s like a conference on steroids except half of the academics have never even touched a database in their life. one time i got an ask calling me an idiot sjw because i said julius caesar, a guy who wrote seven whole books about his war crimes, was a war criminal. this place is an academic’s hell and i love it

A friend of mine works at starbucks and says that some of the shops are starting a "question of the day" to basically improve their reviews... but the questions are too much for a 30 second interaction. Such as "what are some of your hopes and dreams?" or "what do you think aliens would think of us?" or "where do you see yourself in 10 years?"

I work at Starbucks and we’re having a meeting on Tuesday to talk about doing MORE of this and it’s truely horrible. Also we get scored on how well “we connect with our customers” so if you’re not super talkative or don’t ask questions like this you getting a failing score.

straight men repress their feelings so severely with their friends and family, and then they come across a girl (whos been socialized to be Empathetic and Nurturing) and they find that they can tell this girl about their Feelings ! everythings great she’s The One ! in reality they just have a normal human bond but actually connecting with anyone is so foreign to men and their emotionally barren male relationships that it seems like something great and wonderful. so now girl is put on a pedestal that she’ll eventually fall from bc she’s human and not just a Male Feelings Receptacle and everyone loses all bc fathers refuse to cry in front of their sons
