The beginning of the end for every digital artist
its so fucking unfair that i never got to be a little girl
or a teenage girl. who got to go to sleepovers and learn how to do makeup
what do you even do when you keep mourning all the childhood you missed. do you just shrug and go back to work or what
i find myself most often resenting this not even just because "it would have been fun to go to sleepovers and get crushes and play with other little girls", even though that is undoubtedly something i missed and feel sad for, and something that should be mourned-- a lot of the time it's because it feels like i'm lacking vital context to navigate the world as a woman.
makeup and braiding hair and accessorizing. specific types of grooming and hygiene that are just not intuitive. skills i didnt learn, because they are taught in specific gendered contexts.
and one could look at a tutorial or course, but studying a 2D projection by yourself representing what you're supposed to be learning will never teach you an understanding of a 3D skill like being in the same room as other people learning it too.
i miss my childhood i didnt get to have as a little girl, not only because the little girl within me feels lonely and the big girl i grew up into feels isolated, but because the big girl i am now didnt get to learn the things she needed to learn as a little girl.
The one aspect of my life that I resent the most is the way my body grew up so large, so quickly. I stood at 5’10” in 5th grade. At the time, I relished the importance and maturity it offered my reputation, and the way it let me psychologically distance myself from the body of the little person suffering abuses from her father. I relished the tomboy experience, wanting so much to be the privileged gender, and leaned hard away from all the hallmarks of girlhood. But the little girl inside me has always hated how rapidly and irreversibly my own body fled that sweet, lovely, pretty era, now a huge oaf bumbling through womanhood, trying to keep up with my girlfriends, to whom it all seems to comes so easily, confused and othered like a non-native speaker… I have hated how poorly my body has come to disagree with my internal image of my real self.
Chappell Roan, who left her talent agency when she found out the Ceo was in the Epstein Files, is getting more hate than people in the actual Epstein files. Pedophiles are currently presidents and starting wars, wife beaters are getting awards and selling out stadiums, but a lesbian who is not the nicest most cheerful person 24/7 is the actual devil and getting banned from performing. I think she should be meaner. Let her be the nastiest bitch in the world. Maybe more women will wake up from the fucking trance this world has put us through and realise being "not nice" is not the biggest crime in the world.

(smoking a cigarette) the average american is afraid of what is new and what is foreign, and especially of what is adult. they are trapped forever in daycares of their own design, reading books and watching shows made for children. And while there are interesting things made for children, by and large, they tend to stick to inoffensive, intensely juvenile things that won't challenge them much. And worst of all, if you suggest to your Average American that they should try to step outside of their narrow box, especially if they're trying to become artists, animators, film makers, novelists, etc, everyone acts as if you've just bombed the daycare. Wow.
and what's extra interesting is that children are by nature extremely curious and open to seeing new things. So this is a learned resistance. Refusing to try the brussel sprouts because they look yucky, you know.
Meanwhile, America is bombing actual schools and daycares and the nerfing of exposure, as previously described, is preventing people from engaging with this news, like it’s just some lifestyle thing people can opt out from, as if it’s some defensible position that they *just can’t deal with that right now*
So the banner ad didn’t scale down for the mobile browser and it took me multiple minutes to realize that this stock photo of people in business suits was not, in fact, an illustration of what oathbreaker paladins in service to an evil power are supposed to look like
