🪻 Lonely Star ⟡ ݁₊ 🥀

This was a therapeutic illustration that gave me the chance to experiment with my art style! To be a little vulnerable, I’ve always struggled with a chronic sense of loneliness. I wanted to pour that emotion into this piece, with the thorny plants dragging her down and becoming all-consuming of her body.

There’s a sense of comfort that’s almost beautiful even when you’re buried under the weight of isolation. The more you feed it, the deeper it sinks into you, and the harder it is to part with. Pain and sadness is an awful feeling, but there’s an unfortunate side to it that almost feels safe—it’s something that I feel like a lot of people are too scared to talk about.

I’d like to leave this loneliness in the past someday, but for now, I hope this artwork serves as something anyone experiencing the same thing can relate to! You’re not alone 🩵

Yim Siwan's performance as Myunggi is one of my favorite portrayals of a morally grey character I’ve seen in a LONG time! Please go send him some love because he did a damn incredible job 🙏🏻🩵

It’s been uncharacteristically rainy here in Vegas the past few weeks on and off, so I felt inspired to paint this hydrangea illustration and capture the ripples that form on water with each raindrop ✨ I was also really inspired by the song "A Slow Summer Song" from the kdrama Summer Strike and wanted to capture that cozy and gentle vibe 🌱

This art piece symbolizes the act of letting go of the past and slowly being able to lift your head above water to a brighter future 🌷 I didn't want to illustrate the girl with her head already out of the water just yet, so I wanted to express that feeling of a light at the end of a tunnel or being so close to finally achieving your dreams that you could touch it!

I started working on this illustration of Atsushi Sakurai a couple days after his passing last year, but I fell into a rut and couldn’t find the strength to finish it until now 🥺 The award for most perfect person to study dynamic anatomy poses, stylized realism, and intricate clothing details would have to go to this beautiful soul. Gone far too soon—I hope Atsushi, Reita, and the rest of the incredible rockstars we’ve lost are all chatting up in the heavens about the music they loved to create 🙏🏻🩵

UNDYING 🌘✨

I created this illustration in honor of Reita—the bassist of one of my favorite bands of all time—who sadly passed away a week ago. Being a fan of the GazettE for over 15 years now fills me with a pride I could never put into words. This band has been with me through my most difficult times and Reita has always been a source of comfort, excitement, tears, and laughter for me.

I feel so blessed that I had the opportunity to see them live in 2016, shake Reita’s and the rest of the members’ hands, and tell Reita how thankful I am for everything they’ve done for me face-to-face. Your memory will live on for an eternity, Reita 🩵 Fly high, our precious rocker. You’re the best bassist in the world and the GazettE, the imprint you’ve left on the rock community, and your spirit will never die 🤟🏻
