THIS IS THE HARDEST I HAVE LAUGHED IN SO LONG YOU HAVE CURED MY DEPRESSION
This is one of the greatest posts I’ve ever witnessed. The payoff was amazing.
My roommate heard it going and went “OH MY GOD is it EVER going to resolve?” then the payoff hit and she busted up laughing
The final trailer.
I want to see this get an Oscar nomination and make A GAZILLION BUCKS.
"I don't pay you to tink you taw. I pay you to tee."
"I did! I did taw!"
"What did you tee? What did you taw?"
If this doesn't get nominated for best animated feature film and at least several other categories.... well, I will be very upset of course.
I'm crying with laughter, I can't wait to see this movie. TAKE MY MONEY
@foolishmortal THANK YOU you're so right
Everyone clearly had a blast being a part of this and their work deserves appreciation! I am going to be very obnoxious about this movie for the foreseeable.
Honestly we like to pretend that the world used to be simpler and less violent but maybe we were just ignorant kids. Like do you know how difficult it was to learn geography when Carmen Sandiego ended with a disclaimer that "all geographic information was accurate at the time this program was recorded." They had to change the freaking theme song because it listed countries that no longer existed
When the Planeteers started Linka was from the Soviet Union. Then she was from Russia. Then she was from Eastern Europe.
Friends, the Planeteers lasted for six years.
Media company, circa 1991: Let's just make some educational programs for children. Teach them about people from other places. Simple geography.

I’m sick and tired of actually feeling inspired by these stupid sonic shittposts, I think about that ‘don’t worry about your life past 9pm’ post ALL THE TIME and they slapped SUPER SONIC RIGHT NEXT TO IT TOO
I love that thing when people get a little bit tongue-tied and garble what they’re trying to say so they make a little “blegh” 👅 noise and start over. verbal reset button. hitting the top of the tv to unscramble the signal
The tailors at Colonial Williamsburg made a suit for their cat
The best part is that they were inspired by a diary entry from 1775, written by a 12 year old tailor’s apprentice who had been left unsupervised all day and decided to make a suit for a cat. Here’s a link to the blog post about it, but I’ll just paste the whole diary entry here:
“I had been at work about two months when Christmas came on – and here I must relate a little anecdote. The principal [the tailor] and his lady were invited to a party among their friends…while it devolved on me to stay at home and keep house. There was nothing left me in charge to do, only to take care of the house. There was a large cat that generally lay about the fire. In order to try my mechanical powers, I concluded to make a suit of clothing for puss, and for my purpose gathered some scraps of cloth that lay about the shop-board, and went to work as hard as I could. Late in the evening I got my suit of clothes finished; I caught the cat, put on the whole suit – coat, vest, and small-clothes [breeches] – buttoned all on tight, and set down my cat to inspect the fit.
“Unfortunately for me there was a hole through the floor close to the fireplace, just large enough for the cat to pass down; after making some efforts to get rid of the clothes, and failing, pussy descended through the hole and disappeared; the floor was tight and the house underpinned with brick, so there was no chance of pursuit. I consoled myself with a hope that the cat would extricate itself from its incumbrance, but not so; night came and I had made on a good fire and seated myself for some two or three hours after dark, when who should make their appearance but my master and mistress and two young men, all in good humor, with two or three bottles of rum. After all were seated around the fire, who should appear amongst us but the cat in his uniform. I was struck speechless, the secret was out and had no chance of concealing; the cat was caught, the whole work inspected and the question asked, is this your day’s work? I was obliged to answer in the affirmative; I would then have been willing to take a good whipping, and let it stop there, but no, to complete my mortification the clothes were carefully taken off the cat and hung up in the shop for the inspection of all customers that came in.”
“I was hoping they’d beat me and forget about it but to my horror they stuck my work up on the fridge”

“I was wondering when you’d show up,” the exorcist said with a shake of her head. (She personally preferred the term incorporeal entities removal specialist, but it was impossible to advertise with.) “It was common knowledge your place was infested by the time you bought it.”
“Haunted,” the tired young man corrected. “I have ghosts, not bedbugs.”
“Good thing too,” she winked. “I wouldn’t know how to get rid of the latter for you.” She gave him a reassuring nod. “But your problem I can solve. Give my team twenty-four hours, or twelve if you’re willing to wait until the next full moon, and we’ll have your house cleansed top to bottom. Tell you what. If it turns out there’s more than four in there, I’ll give you the bulk discount too.”
“There’s six,” the young man replied. “But I do not want the whole house cleansed. I only want you to remove three of them.”
The medium-turned-businesswoman looked up from the form she had wanted to hand him. “Excuse me?”
“I don’t want the whole house cleansed, I don’t want it to be spiritually uninhabitable.”
“You-” She gaped. “Why on earth wouldn’t you want to sweep the hole house?”
Even through the fatigue on his face the young man looked indignant. “Because there’s kids in there!”
Her lips moved silently around unspoken words. “There’s…”
“Kids in there!” he repeated. “Children! Three of them. Two little ones and their older sibling, I think. They haven’t talked to me yet.”
“Sir, you’re talking about ghosts,” she emphasized.
“I’m talking about children,” he said stubbornly. “And I’m not throwing them out. They’re more scared of the others than I am!” He shook his head. “No, the wailing one in the attic and the two who keep scratching at the windows and leaving wet footprints on the carpet definitely need to go, there’s no reasoning with them. But the kids stay. If you can’t guarantee their safety during your procedure I will find someone else to help me.”
Never in her twelve years on the job— “Well,” she said hesitantly, looking at her potential client rather more nervously than before. “I suppose I could call in a colleague to…I presume some sort of personalized ward would do it.” She crossed her arms. “But this is highly irregular! It means a custom job. I won’t be able to give you a reliable estimate of the price, and it’s certainly going to cost you!”
The young man smiled the smile of a man who had very recently bought a twice cursed, triple haunted house both willingly and gladly. “We all live under the spectre of capitalism,” he said wryly. He dragged the form towards him and began to fill in his address. “The kids stay. Whatever the costs.”
Four months earlier…
“The place is fucking haunted. I knew it was too good to be true.”
It was the first time in a year and a half that he could confidently say he looked and felt just as tired as his sister. He shouldn’t have bought the stupid house. He should have questioned the price, shouldn’t have been taken in by the woodshop in the basement and the French windows.
“Maybe it’s not quite haunted,” his sister suggested hopefully. “Maybe it’s just cursed. You could get a witch in. I’m sure I could find you one, trans kids love growing up witchy.”
“No it’s definitely haunted,” he grunted, rubbing his face with his hands. “There’s some thing that wails in the attic whenever I go near it and whenever it rains there’s this awful scratching at the downstairs windows and four sets of footprints appearing on the carpet.”
His sister opened and shut her mouth, her optimism flagging.
“There’s hardly a whole mug left in the house, the keys to the attic just went missing, and then there’s the screaming every night and the sobbing every morning and my damn books being dragged around and stacked in front of my desk.
His sister took in a singing breath. “Sounds like kids.”
He lifted his head out of his hands, staring at her. “What?”
She grimaced. “I’m sorry. I don’t want to be that mom. I’m listening, I swear. It sounds horrible, I’m sorry.”
“No, what did you just say?” he pressed.
She gave him a tired, wry smile. “I don’t know about the attic and the windows, but, screams of terror in the night, crying in the early morning, things breaking and getting lost and being set out for you to find… Sounds like just like kids.”
He was still staring, almost frozen, at the lines of fatigue and determination etched into his sister’s face.
“You… You’d be able to tell a child’s cry apart from any other wouldn’t you?”
She snorted. “From five miles away with my ears plugged. ‘Only the birthing parent gets superhuman hearing’ my ass.”
“If I find someone to help Millie with the kids for an evening, will you come to my house to…listen to ghosts?”
It was now her turn to stare. “You think you’re haunted by children? By child ghosts??”
“I mean…” His mind passed frantically through every sensation of crowded panic he had ever felt in that blasted house. But it was his house now. His responsibility. What if there were kids in there? “Maybe!”
There was a single beat of silent, parental horror.
“Let me call Mill to sort something out.”
@smokey-the-lesbian, I hear you <3
Even with her most clairvoyant colleague to help her, it had taken her three whole hours to figure out what was wrong with this damned house. And that was just the diagnostics! She could have fully exorcised a house twice this size in that time! Served her right for taking on a custom job, she ought to know better.
When it came down to it, it turned out that there weren’t six ghosts after all. It took them an embarrassing amount of time to discover it, but the wailing in the attic had not come from a real ghost at all. It was only a sensory haunting, a spectral echo of some wraith long since departed. Once they had diagnosed this, it was very easy to dispel.
The scratching and wet footprints at the entrance were part of a similar confusion, but of a different kind. It was not two ghosts leaving two sets of footprints, it was one ghost leaving two sets of paw prints. A Black Shuck to be precise, and a very confused one, since it kept trying to get into the house. It didn’t seem to mean any harm, but the child ghosts—there were indeed three of them—were clearly terrified of it, so here she was, with all her occult accolades, building a bloody dog house at four in the bloody morning.
“I don’t care what you say,” her fellow medium grinned. “I’m writing this one up for the newsletter.”
“Leading it to the nearest crossroad should have worked,” she grumbled, scratching the last of the runes into the wooden roof.
“Well, we’re nearly done, and at least we won’t have to banish it.”
“I suppose.” Neither of them liked exorcising protective spirits, it felt ungrateful.
Her friend glanced back over at the house. “Do you think it’ll work out? With those kids?”
She pulled a face. “Well, he’s stubborn enough to stick at it, that’s for sure.” She followed her friend’s gaze. The lights flickering behind the windows looked different now than when they had just arrived, warmer, and calmer. Well, with the whole house swept clean of lingering energies, and the shuck guarding the edges of the property…. Who knew.
She turned back to the rather shoddy dog house—it didn’t need to be weathertight anyway—and pretended not to hear, at the very edge of her clairvoyant senses, the distant sound of youthful laughter.

Grace, your friend is an apex predator.
Stupid ugly statement
Let’s say you wanted to glue fabric to wood, but what do you use? What about glass to paper? This to That lets you choose two things you want to glue and lists what types of glue is best. (Because people have a need to glue things to other things!)
This is an incredibly awesome site. Go check it out!
Whhhhaaaaaattt!???
EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS
This is one of the first websites I was told about in props. It also has information about the toxicity, adhere time, price, and other stuff about the glues.
Useful for cosplayers and DIY!
THIS IS MY FAVORITE WEBSITE
I consider it my duty as a librarian to make sure everyone knows about it.
for those curious, this is joanne, a 15-year-old sumatran tiger currently living at phoenix zoo. it's very sweet to see her playing and tumbling around like this at her age -- she's got some people taking care of her if she still has this energy at that age.
i did see some users in the notes who were concerned about her looking 'scrawny', or wondering if she's maybe a juvenile -- far from it! at 15, joanne is very much considered a geriatric tiger; she's a grandma. she is, however, a sumatran tiger (panthera tigris sumatrae) -- sumatrans are the smallest extant subspecies of tiger, built more for the sweltering jungles of sumatra than the blistering cold of the amur river or the dense forests and mangrove swamps of south asia.
when you're used to seeing amur or amur-bengal hybrid ('generic') tigers on television or online, most of which are often overfed and overweight, a sumatran is going to look a bit weird, but joanne looks to be in wonderful shape -- look at those muscles flex and that coat shimmer when she moves! that's a healthy old lady for sure. props to joanne's keepers for taking such good care of her.
